I don’t see anything appeaing about these 2!
To be fair, you are a very vocal Trump fan. There’s no one Biden could’ve realistically picked that you would have liked.

That’s not a criticism, just an observation.

Hillary made a poor choice for VP and in my opinion so did Joe. Kamala is unlikeable and when she tries to be likeable it is so fake.

She’s not likeable to you.

I find Trump profoundly unlikeable, but lots of other people don’t. Perceptions vary.

Kamala does have Hillary syndrome though. It’s hard to not picture her running roughshod over old doddering white guy Biden rather than supporting him.

Elizabeth Warren or, if a Black woman was preferable, Karen Bass would have been a better pick and more unifying overall.

I’m of the opinion, personally, that VP picks don’t really move the needle much for most people. For the vast majority of people, their vote is going to be determined by what they think of Trump, who is a far more important, polarizing figure.

The issue is, the Trump haters would vote for anyone running against, even if it was a goat.

The VP pick is important for getting people on board who are not those Trump haters, but instead are on the fence or not positive who they want to vote for. It’s especially important here because there’s a real question in people’s minds about Biden not being up to the task of President or not being able to finish his term. Kamala is not going to draw the fence sitters. She will push them away and they will either go back to Trump, vote third party, or not vote at all.

Just don’t buy it. I get the argument of “she’s not exciting” but I’m not sure that’s a liability in this particular election. I think a lot of Americans are ready for politics to be a little boring again. As a country, we’re kind of burned out on the reality show vibe.

Her policy positions are essentially just mainstream Democrat. If that’s an issue for you, Harris joining the ticket doesn’t really change anything.

It’s her personality that’s at issue, not her policy positions.
People love her or really dislike her. A whole lot of people, including many Dems, really dislike her. They may not say so out loud, especially since they’ll get called racist in today’s environment (And there may even be some racism in play), but she’s a polarizing figure.

I just think that will all be subsumed into the larger “ok, but what do you think of Trump?” question.

Then you as a Catholic support Kamala Harris??

If Catholics voted en masse against abortion candidates we might be able to move on to other issues that you and others deem more important than life.

It’s funny how Catholics can say to other Catholics that some of us are obsessed with life issues while all the while perpetuating the problem by PICKING pro-ABORTION candidates.

I agree. I also find it odd that the USCCB will be brought out when immigration is brought up but not when abortion is discussed.

Because they probably don’t care to admit that they’re probably not all that pro-life.

Me either.
We have to vote compulsorarily here.
Maybe compulsory voting pushes parties to find a few good options so people dont vote mickey mouse.

Eh, my life won’t change all that much. Probably pay more in taxes is about it. Washington doesn’t have a lot of influence in the area around Harlan Kentucky.

This country’s on a downhill slope and the momentum has become too great to change course now, just depends on if the people in charge are hitting the brakes or increasing speed.
I somewhat agree. I’m 65 and on Medicare. In a few years, I’ll be on SS. That won’t go away in my lifetime. I don’t have any debts and I have a nice IRA. It’s our children and grandchildren who will pay for this. Our children will reap the consequences of their votes.

My only concern is inflation.

No surprise here–conservative Catholics have just one litmus test for public office seekers. No one else need apply.
I would say liberals have several litmus tests - all in direct conflict with Catholic teaching.

I think Biden will “hit the brakes” on COVID 19, the causes for racial unrest, screwing up the environment and “speed up” on a few good things (education, green jobs, etc.) Someone’s taxes are going to be higher to pay for this stuff, but I am not convinced the middle class is going to take a hit on it this time. And simply by the fact that we will not have a daily, Presidential tweet storm to constantly feed the 24 hour Breaking News and social media cycle, maybe the level of our hostility and outrage with one another will come down a decibel.
If Obama/Biden wasn’t able to achieve that, what makes you think Biden/Harris will? Racial tensions increased under Obama.
