Thorwald,YUP! I got fined for not wearing one.![]()
I bet you wont be doing that again any time soon, will you?$58.00![]()
I understand where you are coming from. I just live my life on the edge, I guess. I really have no fear. I know that God is always with me.Thorwald,
I had edited my post while you were responding. I apologize. Anyways what you say is interesting. God is ultimately in control, there is no doubt about that, and if it is someones time to go then no bullet proof anything is going to change that. I still donāt see wearing things such as bullet proof vests, seat belts or driving around in a bullet proof vehicle as signs of lack of faith though. Like I said, I have great faith that a bullet will kill me. I have great faith that wearing a seat belt can save someoneās life. Iāve seen it
God bless
While there is nothing wrong with expressing the joy you feel now of being in the Catholic Church there is no reason to drag your former church (or any protestant church for that matter) through the mudI no longer belong to a stupid denomination that is split off from the pope, but now I have a Roman Catholic
NO! I take the seat belt off, when I enter bush roads.I bet you wont be doing that again any time soon, will you?![]()
ITāS OKAY, IāM ALSO ANTI - CATHOLIC AT TIMES TOO!Roman_Catholic;5450824]While there is nothing wrong with expressing the joy you feel now of being in the Catholic Church there is no reason to drag your former church (or any protestant church for that matter) through the mud![]()
Wow, you are tooooooo kind!To a great many people they are not stupid.
They are part of the faith they have grown up with. For some it is all they know. In fact it was more than likely your Methodist upbringing which prepared you for entering the Catholic Church.
:yup:Perhaps it taught you reference for the Holy Scriptures? To love and obey our Lord? The worthiness of seeking truth where ever it may be? To follow the lead of the Holy Spirit where ever it may lead/pull/push?
Protestants⦠come to think of it, all of my friends on my friend list are either catholic or moromon! None of them are protestantā¦Just keep in mind that while this is a Catholic forum there are Protestants who frequent it. Protestants very far from stupid![]()
God bless you too!God bless
ā¦what are bush roads?NO! I take the seat belt off, when I enter bush roads.![]()
He just means, when he is out in the bush country, far away from where there might be a police officer.ā¦what are bush roads?(I donāt drive)

:tsktsk: Thorwald! How dare you compare mormons to my methodist church! lolUhā¦Mormons are Protestant.![]()
Even Jesus did not take stupid risks. When the Devil tempted Him to leap off the Temple parapet, because surely the Angels would guard him from harm, He said, āDo not tempt the Lord your God.āIt is a good thing, that your āenemiesā are poor shots, otherwise, you might have received a head wound.
I should have ādiedā many times in my life, but I was always āsavedā from the impending ādisasterā. I came to realize, that no person, or event, can take my life, until God decides that my time is up. I have no fear of anything in this life, where my life/death is concerned. I am in Godās hands. Let His will be done.![]()
:yup::yup: TRUE! Please wear your belt⦠I know that heaven sounds like a good place but that doesnāt mean that you should run towards it so fast that you forget where you were going!Even Jesus did not take stupid risks. None of us has any fore-ordained time of death. Our ātime will be upā when our bodies no longer work well enough to keep our souls attached to them. If we put ourselves in the way of harm, that day will come sooner, rather than later.
Sorry!:tsktsk: Thorwald! How dare you compare mormons to my methodist church! lol![]()
For someone who puts no faith in the Catholic Church, you sure do put a lot of faith in the book it compiled. Remember that FIRST there was the Church as the foundation (established by Jesus Himself when saying āupon this rockā¦ā). The Bible is not, whoever, the foundation of the Church (though certainly is very important because itās His inspired word).Catholicism has added the rosary (along with repetitious prayer), and prayers to Mary and ādead saintsā. Saul was frowned upon by God (The Chronicles) because he used a median and sought wisdom from Samuel, instead of praying directly to God for wisdom. Speaking in Latin, when the congregation does not understand this language, serves no purpose. The scriptures tell us, that if we wish to communicate with God in a language that He understands, this is okay, but we shouldnāt use a language that the congregation doesnāt understand, while they are in church for the purpose of worshipping God. These are just some examples.
This is completely understandable. Perhaps this will help: we do not bow down to an object in the sense of idolatry. Remember that bowing isnāt worship (just like bowing in Japan is done out of courtesy and not worship, and the same goes for bowing to royalty like the Queen of England.) Rather, when you see someone bow down to an image or to a statue, itās simply done as a sign of respect. Why show our respect? Because in the case of saints, looking at their image (if you know their life) can help us recall they example they set forth. Who was this image of?The priest saw how shocked I was to see everyone bowing down to an image on the wall (I didnāt like this so I couldnāt participate in this partā¦) I couldnāt bow down to it! Any way the priest saw my reaction and so he explained it to me but I wasnāt impressedā¦but I still didnāt do it. It felt really awkward because I didnāt want to offend him, but I think that he understood and was okay about itā¦
Your first comment has nothing to do with putting your trust in God. It deals with ātemptingā God.Even Jesus did not take stupid risks. When the Devil tempted Him to leap off the Temple parapet, because surely the Angels would guard him from harm, He said, āDo not tempt the Lord your God.ā
None of us has any fore-ordained time of death. Our ātime will be upā when our bodies no longer work well enough to keep our souls attached to them. If we put ourselves in the way of harm, that day will come sooner, rather than later.
You will believe what you will, as I will believe what I will. Hope to see you in heaven. For someone who puts no faith in the Catholic Church, you sure do put a lot of faith in the book it compiled. I would encourage you to dig deeper into what Catholicism truly teaches because you display your ignorance about it in this text. The Rosary may have repetition but it is not without meaning, itās not ānonsenseā nor is it babbling as we are told not to do. Itās a meditation on the life of Christ. To borrow from Paulās form of speaking: Oh what a horrendous practice!
Also recall that the saints are not dead. How can they be if theyāre WITH God?
Matthew 22:32
āI am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacobā? He is not the God of the dead but of the living."
Prayer to the saints is NOT worship. We ask them to pray for us, the same as asking you to pray for me. Do you never ask anyone to pray for you or do you never pray for someone that asks? If you do pray, are you God? Are you getting in between them and God? Of course not! So then why are you against the saints who are in heaven? If you wonder how they can listen to us, then Iād caution you not to be limiting God who is all powerful.
Having faith in the Lord is excellent, but being reckless and careless with what He gives us isnāt which seems to be what youāre promoting. Wearing a seatbelt is a lack of faith?
Letās take this to an extreme then. Will you never eat again because eating is lacking in faith that the Lord will feed you? Do you never sleep because He will give you your rest? Do you not work because He will provide you with any money you might need? I would hope you see the absurdity of this.
This is completely understandable. Perhaps this will help: we do not bow down to an object in the sense of idolatry. Having images of the saints is the same as having images of your deceased relatives. You honor their memory, NOT worship them. Unless youāre saying that having images of them is bad and should be thrown out when one passes away.
Remember that praying to a saint (asking for prayers for some intention like you would to any person here on Earth) is not the same as praying to God (worship).
