OK. My 1965 comment was not for the vote. It’s in my Psychiatric Nursing Book. 1973, is fine. My group of Judge comment was by the Radio Psch Dr. Laura xxx.
Maybe there was a preliminary discussion???
Thank you for your accurate up date.

I just don’t see the connection.
Surely you are not saying that there is still widespread homophobia in Netherlands?
How do isolate cases of homophobia cause widespread emotional and relationship problems in gays?
In the past there was widespread homophobia then maybe the argument has some ground. But not now.
Here’s something about “Acceptance of Homosexuality in the Netherlands” from the Netherlands Institute for Social Research. It’s from 12 years ago, but that is not long enough for any major changes to have taken place in Dutch society:
Acceptance of homosexuality in the Netherlands
According to international comparative opinion research, the Netherlands is among the countries where homosexuality is the most widely accepted…

In recent years, however, a number of developments have taken place which rather contradict this image of complete acceptance. Hostility towards homosexuality is common in schools, making life more difficult for homosexual teachers and pupils than for their heterosexual counterparts. Gays and lesbians are not infrequently insulted in the streets or even physically assaulted; in some neighbourhoods their lives are made a misery, and in orthodox religious circles homosexuality is regarded as a sin…

[T]he majority of gays and lesbians have encountered negative experiences, on the streets or in nightlife centres, but also from family members, at work and in sport. These experiences relate to denigrating comments about homosexuality or homosexuals, malicious gossip or bullying, and verbal or sometimes even physical violence. ‘Fag**t’ is a widely used insult at work and in sport.

In 2000 respondents were asked what they would think if their ‘imaginary’ son or daughter were to live together with a partner of the same sex. 12% of respondents said they would find this unacceptable.

The fourth and last dimension of attitudes to homosexuality in this study concerns the reaction to the visible presence and expression of homosexuality in the public domain. This dimension rarely receives attention in population surveys; only one survey, held in 2000, asked about one aspect of this: kissing in public. If two men do this, 42% of the Dutch population find this repugnant; if it is two women who are kissing, this raises objections among 31% of respondents…

Negative attitudes to homosexuality are found more than average among young people, older people, men, the less well educated, religious people and Dutch citizens of ethnic origin. Among the indigenous population, religiousness is the main determinant of a negative attitude; of the indigenous Dutch population who say they consider religion to be ‘very important’, almost 80% have a negative attitude to homosexuality.

Oh I could give you sources about racism towards Asian Americans as well. Just google.
Hers one already

But do we hear asians complaining that because they have all these oppression they get emotional and relationship and health problems?do they portray themselves as victims? I think they just want to be normal Americans just like anybody else.

than i guess i was wrong in believing that doctor and believing that the Netherlands and New Zealand were less homophobic. Next time i should do more research.

I think anecdotal personal experience is important too. You never know what biases are inherent in these research.

If you ask me
Would you rather stand in the public street of Netherlands or New Zealand or Australia wearing a placard saying
  1. I’m gay
  2. I don’t support gay marriage
Which one would you choose?
I would definitely choose number one. I’m scared to do number 2 even though that’s what I believe in because I would likely be assaulted.

I’d probably do the first as well. Even though I’m both 😶

If @thorolfr is truly correct then choosing number 2 would be safer.

It shows that sometimes we don’t need studies to tell us this information. It is obvious where the oppression really is.

Many Asian Americans might not portray themselves as victims, but that doesn’t mean that mental illness is not a problem in that population:
A Hidden Tragedy: Mental Illness and Suicide Among Asian Americans

What do Jiwon Lee, Kevin Lee, and Andrew Sun have in common? Sadly, they are three Asian Americans college students who killed themselves in high-profile cases in April at prestigious universities.

Kevin Lee, (no relation to Jiwon,) a sophomore at Boston University studying biomedical engineering, was found dead in his dorm room. Andrew Sun, also a sophomore studying economics at Harvard, jumped to his death in Boston. Jiwon Lee, a dental student at Columbia University left a note that said “not living up to expectations.” Her body was found in the Hudson River.

According to the American Psychological Association, using the year 2007 as case study, suicide “was the second leading cause of death for Asian-Americans aged 15-34.” The website ReAppropriate, which advocates for Asian American concerns, estimates that the three students who killed themselves are part of about 150 college-aged Asian Americans who will die by suicide this year.

Stanley Sue, a professor of psychology and Asian-American studies at the University of California at Davis who has studied suicide rates among Asian Americans, believes part of the problem is that Asian Americans are not likely to talk about their psychological problems.

But are they linking it to past injustices? Are they having relationship problems? Are their divorce rates higher than their counterparts? Do they have more sexual partners because of racism?

In fact your article strengthens my case further.
There was no emphasis on racism causing these problems. The whole article seems to be saying it’s the Asian culture that’s is contributing.

I agree.

Likewise it’s the gay culture itself that is causing the problems we see, not the homophobia.

I’ve heard ridiculous claims that homophobia causes depression and therefore to compensate they need to have more sexual partners? I mean how does that make sense?

And you base this on what grounds? And why is consent the only criterion?
I think it’s obvious a rape victim did not give his or her consent, I also think it should be obvious that a victim of pedophilia is not an adult, and a victim of beastiality cannot give consent.

The only criterion? For what?

And it should be just as obvious that two people of the same gender cannot form a married family. It should be just as obvious that such sexual acts are unnatural.

You answered your own point in a roundabout way.

Some things are obvious.

Of course they can. If they couldn’t, a single mother with children would not be a family, nor would a woman who had children via IVF. It’s love that makes a family, not sex. That’s why most animals don’t form traditional families. And people of the same gender can marry - legally. Gender and sexual preference are not a choice. If being LGBTQ were unnatural, God wouldn’t have made them that way. Just because something is not the majority doesn’t make it wrong or unnatural.

Blimey, what are you on about? I wasn’t debating the issue of gay sex but wondering about how SSA live their lives (e.g marrying a woman despite attractions, become a priest) and how this is changing.
Incrediable enthusiasm though!

Blessings
Your implying Homosexuality is an adult consenting act. I, diversified into sicker sexual behaviors. Guilty! My mind jumped into stoning of Homosexuals in Islam. How can you not have all the nightmare visions of poisonpops enter your head. As a nurse, we can have warped humor. I’ll spare you a humorous thought.( to me) Create in me a clean heart, Oh Lord! He will if I let Him. I’ve seen so much…
1965 Homosexuality was a perversion. A panel of 10 Psychiatrists convened. They voted gay was normal. 7 of the panel were gay! DUH.
Let’s say, Homosexuality is normal for the wordly. But, God calls us to a higher behavior.
Enough! God can argue His part.

I think think that you’re responding to the wrong person. I said that the West will eventually undergo a re-traditionalization period where people overwhelmingly turn on these ideas. I may love the family members that are homosexual but I would never, ever consider their behavior normal or that they could ever be “married.” Perhaps you should read what I stated again. Blessings to you as well.

I thought she was replying to me. I’m the one who said homosexuality was between two consenting adults, but bestiality and pedophilia were not, so there was no comparison.

In the end, we are all going to be judged by God, not be another poster, co-worker, parent, child, etc.

It’s just my opinion, but I think the first question Christ will ask is: How much did you love your neighbor - all your neighbors?

Russia isn’t Christian. Only identification with Eastern Orthodoxy increased substantially. Most Russians don’t even go to church or even pray privately.
For 2014:

The numbers most likely have not changed much in the past 4 years.
And there are parts that are predominantly Muslim and animists beliefs are common too in Siberia.

Of course they can. If they couldn’t, a single mother with children would not be a family, nor would a woman who had children via IVF.
It would be a family missing a father – either through unfortunate circumstances or decision on the woman to be content with a child missing a fatherly figure.
It’s love that makes a family, not sex.
Two men or two women deliberately deprive the child of either a mother or a father.
And people of the same gender can marry - legally.
Many things are/were legal.
Gender and sexual preference are not a choice.
No one said they were.
If being LGBTQ were unnatural, God wouldn’t have made them that way.
People are born with congenital disorders. Doesn’t mean they are intrinsically unworthy. Just born with an anomaly. God made them, and they happen to have physical disabilities. That doesn’t mean the disabilities are normal. They happen in a completely morally neutral way.
Just because something is not the majority doesn’t make it wrong or unnatural.
Something is unnatural because it goes against natural order. Whether it’s popular or not is irrelevant.
