The man in no “alter Christus” and it’s silly to portray him as such (Post 57). He’s just some guy who got harassed by some people. If he were a drunkard getting the same treatment from some crowd, no one on this Forum would care. Reading a Bible in public doesn’t elevate you to some special status.
Are you serious?

The preacher’s answer was spot on. “They got a problem with God, not with me. They don’t want God tellin’ 'em ‘Thus sayeth the Lord’”

That’s a better answer than I could have come up with.

None of these 99% defenders of gay love did a thing for that man. The film’s author bought him a sandwich and a milk shake.

Tell me again how much the 99% care for the poor.
Maybe they just don’t care for the bottom 0.5% (unless they have an NYU Sociology degree)?

I’m not sure if you are just playing devil’s advocate, or just being contrarian.

I would say that this “street preacher”'s (who very well could be a drunkard, many homeless are) actions are defensible, while the actions of the protestors most certainly are not.
I thought the same thing.

We are all called blessed for acting in Christ’s name. Even if that brings us scorn and revile.

This guy definitely was being persecuted in Christ’s name.

None of them care for the poor? Just because a person is homosexual is proof that he or she is uncharitable? Does a sandwich and a milk shake amount to true charity? Yes, those people mocking the man were wrong, but did the man taking the pictures take the man to a “rescue mission” so that he might be helped?

In New York City, the subway cars have posters that tell you not to give a buck to a bum, but to call 311 so that the man can really be helped with food and shelter by people who will respond to his need.

I know several homosexuals who are as generous with their money as any heterosexual. 🤷

But, go ahead, make fun. 😦

Sure, it’s wrong to make a public fool out of a drunkard or a man who uses the street for a toilet, but that doesn’t make him special even if he has a Bible. I’m not so sure that some Christians might uncharitably not refrain from mocking him or calling the cops down on him.
Or 99%ers.

So far I have seen a lot of hate and intolerance from the left.

You ought to visit World Net Daily and read of the rightwingers there who hate and are intolerant of the President. Not trying to hijack the thread, but to show that not only leftwingers are capable of intolerance and genuine hatred, given the epithets they use when speaking of him.

Did I say that?

I imagine the photographer felt sorry for the man for what he had gone through and thought the least she could do was to buy him a sandwich.

Are you speculating she didn’t?

I agree, but this was a spontaneous act of mercy.

👍
But, go ahead, make fun. 😦
I wasn’t making fun, I was criticizing them.

Never said that either.

Amen. “The least she could do” is right.
Are you speculating she didn’t?
I can’t bet the farm on it, but I’d bet my next paycheck that she didn’t take him to a facility that could help him.
I wasn’t making fun, I was criticizing them.
Then I was wrong to say that.

Never said that either.
Saying that you’ve seen a “lot of hate and intolerance from the left” without any mention of the right implies that hate and intolerance is a leftist trait.

We all on this Forum tend to make absolutist statements - all black or white - yet the world is gray.

Anyway, until tomorrow, TTFN. 🙂 🙂

In the video

I guarantee you every homeless person knows where a shelter is. Whether or not she pointed him in that direction is not relevant to her act of spontaneous kindness.

Nope. Well, at least in this case, with something that is directly comparable: Tea Party vs 99%ers.

99%ers: countless acts of violence, public nudity, drug use, etc

Tea Party: zero problems. Zero. Which is amazing, as the Tea Party is probably 25 times larger than the 99%ers. And I’m being generous to the 99%ers.

Not saying that there hasn’t been right wing violence, of course, just that in the most recent directly comparable circumstances, the Left doesn’t come off looking so good.

I think the point here is that IF these people had a genuine cause they wouldn’t be pushing around some vulnerable old guy just because of his beliefs.

They are doing exactly what they accuse the religious of doing to them. Imposing their beliefs through bully tactics.

Curious…what do expect her to do? Hog tie him and drag him off to the nearest homeless shelter where he can be locked away from the “normal” people?

You do realize that homeless people are not stray animals to be rounded up, neutered and rehomed, right? They have the freedom to go whereever they want, just like everyone else.

Considering his appearance, he apparently has access to a shower and laundry facilities.

Over Sixty National Organizations Sign a Letter of Support for Chick-fil-A
The widespread support for Dan Cathy and Chick-fil-A continues, as over sixty of the nation’s most influential, pro-family, pro-liberty organizations signed a joint letter
of support addressed to Chick-fil-A’s president, Dan Cathy.

The letter states, in part: “We, the undersigned, extend our united support for you and your biblical position on natural marriage and the family. …As you are likely aware, biblical values and companies that support them are under attack. It is incredibly important for successful men like you, representing a national brand, to unapologetically stand for God’s truth as revealed in the Scriptures. The example of Chick-fil-A and your leadership has encouraged many.”

Then why not stay on topic instead of jumping to Obama, or taste tests?
