What a bunch of Jack A.#$#s. I can’t believe this. This is insane and completely inappropriate. This makes my blood boil…

It would have been really difficult for me to be charitable had I been at this Mass. I guess this goes to show me how far I have to go in the area of Christian charity but this just makes me so angry…
CHICAGO — Six Iraq war protesters disrupted an Easter Mass on Sunday, shouting and squirting fake blood on themselves and parishioners in a packed auditorium.
Code:
Three men and three women startled the crowd during Cardinal Francis George's homily, yelling "Even the Pope calls for peace" as they were removed from the Mass by security guards and ushers.
Code:
One Mass attendee, Mike Wainscott of Chicago, yelled at the anti-war protesters.
Code:
"Are you happy with yourselves?" he said. "There were kids in there. You scared little kids with your selfish act. Are you happy now?"
Code:
The group, which calls itself Catholic Schoolgirls Against the War, said in a statement after the arrests that they targeted the Holy Name Cathedral on Easter to reach a large audience, including Chicago's most prominent Catholic citizens and the press, which usually covers the services.....

Man, my mom saves the entire year to buy pretty dresses and little suits for the kids. I’d have sued those people for compensation if it happened to us, lol. 😛

Of the six people arrested, five were in their twenties, and one was 18 y.o. Here is a bit more information on the group:
The anti-war group “Catholic Schoolgirls Against The War” has claimed responsibility for the protest. They took part in the Wednesday Loop protest on the fifth anniversary of the start of the war. The Illinois Coalition for Peace and Justice lists them as members and describes the group this way: “Catholic Schoolgirls Against the War is a humorous, political street threatre group composed of college students and young adults. The group was formed in October of 2006 and meets twice per month.”

Why not go to a church where the majority of parishioners are pro-war, rather than the cathedral? Picking on the cardinal over such a matter is just stupid.

You think they’d go to a church without tv cameras? \

We’ll see whether IL hate crimes laws have an exception for terrorism against Catholics.
This is physical assault on Catholics because they are Catholics, worshiping in their cathedral on the holiest day of the year.
This is not a drama troupe, no matter what the press is saying; these are extremists with links to pro-terror organizations. They wouldn’t know peace if it hit them in the face.
Sure they wanted to be on TV, but they would never have done this in a mosque, not even with cameras rolling.
I’m all for turning the other cheek, but when the safety of innocent parishoners is in danger, the perps need to be nailed to the wall.

Thank God they did it before the Consecration.

Felony charges are far too good for them. But that’s ok - they will have a far more important Judge to face on their final day.

So if the Church supported the war it would be OK to squirt them with fake blood and disrupt the Mass?

I don’t think thats his point.

Why did they do this? Isn’t the Church very critical of the Iraq War???

They’re 19 and 20 years old…was it in bad taste and poorly timed and selfish…yes.

Can we honestly banish them to hell for it…errr…probably not…

Gain a little perspective

I think you are the one who needs to gain some perspective. lizanne just mentioned that they will need to answer for their actions on judgment day. No one is banishing them to hell.

You must offend very easily. You seem to think the fact the Church opposed the war is relevant. Why?
You are entering… the Twilight Zone! Ne ner ne ner ne ner ne ner! 😛

Why… Why! Why! (is this the twilight zone or an Ingmar Bergman flick?)

Hello ppeter,
Yep…I think you got it right…It sure “sounds” like a Hate Crime to me, Catholics being targeted for being Catholic. How did the victims at the Easter Mass know whether or not, the blood was “fake”?

I was at a “Gay Rights” protest years ago, where the protesters, who where involved in an Unlawful Protest, had water-pistols filled with urine, which they claimed came from persons who where infected with HIV/AIDS. The protesters threatened to squirt the “infected” urine onto the police officers.

There are some pretty disturbed people out there. These people in my opinion are mentally ill. There is also a good possibility (in my opinion) that these kids are involved in illegal drug use. The ones shown in the photograph, look like “pot-heads” to me; “War” protesters today…. “Legalize marijuana” protesters tomorrow… and so on…

I also read the post here, where the ages of the suspects were mentioned, I wonder what influence parenting or the lack of parenting had on these individuals.

Chicago is a liberal city, so my guess is that these kids will get a “slap on the wrist” and that’s it and that some “journalist” there will portray these individuals as “Hero’s” or at the minimum , try to “minimize” or “justify” their actions. I think that some serious “jail time” is in order here. I bet the ACLU will represent them for free.

God Bless You

That’s just crazy. Such a threat is a deadly threat, and can legally be met with an equally deadly threat, at least in some circumstances. Lead doesn’t have to come from an infected person to be effective.

Bunch of cowards.

If they had any real belief in their cause, they’d protest like those Buddhist monks did in Saigon in 1963.

They’d probably hail Osama bin-Laden as some kind of hero.

Scumbags.

I, for one, would like to hear you answer Bob’s question. It seems valid to me. You implied that if the Church were in favor of the war, that the tactics these protestors used would have been justifiable. That is why Bob asks “why would it matter?” It isn’t a rhetorical question…it is a valid question, in need of your answer.
