The only thing I can come up with is that you are upset about the fact that people who disagree with the Catholic position have the same right to boycott, protest and express their opinion as you do.
I for one totally support their right to boycott. Likewise, I am going to exercise my right Wednesday to pick up a sack of sandwiches there.

I’m not sure if I understand why there’s a need for all of the animosity I’m seeing expressed here on this thread toward Chick-fil-A, if the overwhelming majority of those posting here, “self-identify” as Catholic, and, if we all not only know what the Church teaches, but are faithful to the teaching of the Church. If they spend their money to help those living in sin, to be freed of the grips of that sin, and lead more normal lives, we should all be in agreement with them. They are not Catholic, but here we have found the “common ground” that Obama loves to speak of, but never finds. I understand that there are those who are in disagreement with Chick-fil-A’s actions, but those people have chosen to live in darkness. Are they among us?

I have ZERO animosity toward Chick Fil A. I’ve said all through this thread that they have a perfect right to believe as they choose, speak as they choose and run their business as they choose. I don’t share their dominionist beliefs, and I do have concerns about them; but that doesn’t mean I hold animosity or hatred in my heart for them. I also think their chicken and fries are soggy and tasteless, but that doesn’t require animosity either. 😉

However, I also have ZERO animosity towards people who do NOT believe as I do and I support their right to believe as they choose, speak as they choose and run their businesses as they choose. As Catholics we are also supposed to hold no animosity towards those that do NOT share our faith-even those who hold diametrically opposing views. Supporting the rights of someone who does not share my faith does NOT mean I agree with them-which seems to be a common misconception here at CAF.

You can completely disagree with someone and still accept their inherent value as human beings, love them as Jesus did, and support their rights as Americans to express their opinions. As we do that, we find the common ground that allows us to be free to express our opinions and run our lives the way we choose.

I don’t think anyone would even know how many souls Christ Himself has lead to Himself, let alone the people at CfA.
That’s avoiding the issue. .
Their website contains information on what they do to lead people to Christ. There is a lot of real faith in Christ there.
Conjecture, absent some hard numbers.
They are led to Christianity. The Vatican 2 teachings in “Lumen Gentium” tell us that there are non Catholics who are entitled to be called Christian.
Non-Catholic Christians have been Christians way before Lumen Gentium. 🤷

Mike Huckabee has called for Wed., Aug. 1, to be Chick-Fil A Day to support the company which has taken heat because its founder stated that he supports marriage between a man and a woman.

Ladies, this is an excellent excuse not to cook Wednesday!! Put the family in the car and head out. Great opportunity to teach the kids how we can support the individual’s right to free speech. 👍

Check the site. Serves breakfast too and has a diet calculator. 😃

“we are very much supportive of the family — the biblical definition of the family unit. We are a family-owned business, a family-led business, and we are married to our first wives”

Has anyone addressed this horrible assault on 2nd wives?

It appears Mr. Cathy doesn’t care amy more for heterosexual assaults on matrimony as he does more recent novelties.

Good for him! 👍

Apparently Mr. Cathy is unaware that a man sometimes re-marries after the death of his wife, making the deceased the “first wife.” (Even Catholics, rarely but sometimes)

Wow!

Mark Steyn puts the whole issue into perspective, regarding Boston mayor Tom Merino’s accompanying announcement:
Yet, when it comes to fighting homophobia on Boston’s Freedom Trail, His Honor is highly selective. As the Boston Herald’s Michael Graham pointed out, Menino is happy to hand out municipal licenses to groups whose most prominent figures call for gays to be put to death. The mayor couldn’t have been more accommodating (including giving them $1.8 million of municipal land) of the new mosque of the Islamic Society of Boston, whose IRS returns listed as one of their seven trustees Yusuf al-Qaradawi. Like President Obama, Imam Qaradawi’s position on gays is in a state of “evolution”: He can’t decide whether to burn them or toss ’em off a cliff. “Some say we should throw them from a high place,” he told Al Jazeera. “Some say we should burn them, and so on. There is disagreement. . . . The important thing is to treat this act as a crime.” Unlike the deplorable Mr. Cathy, Imam Qaradawi is admirably open-minded: There are so many ways to kill homosexuals, why restrict yourself to just one? In Mayor Menino’s Boston, if you take the same view of marriage as President Obama did from 2009 to 2012, he’ll run your homophobic *** out of town. But, if you want to toss those godless sodomites off the John Hancock Tower, he’ll officiate at your ribbon-cutting ceremony.

And a great way to put on weight and eat nutritionally unsound food!!

A single chicken sandwich has 410 calories, 16 grams of fat, and 1300 mg of sodium! Add to that 270 calories for a small fries, and you’ve got a sure recipe for a fat a**.

The per person price is about $4.00, so a nice Catholic family with just four kids will spend at least $24.00 not counting soft drinks, another $10.00 or so.

Go ahead and do that weekly. Mr. Cathy will love you, and so will your and your wife’s cardiologist and your kids’ pediatrician!

It took America about 30 seconds to figure out that these bombastic mayors carrying on about not giving Chick-Fil-A permits are exemplary of the twisted level of double-think utilized by Progressives to demostrate their gracious “tolerance”.
Interestingly enough, it wasn’t just conservatives that pointed out the overreach of the Mayors of Boston and Chicago. Traditionally left leaning newspapers and columnists also pointed out that these guys had gone WAY too far.

Well, the ACLU and political conservative do make strange bedfellows, but in this case…

I mean, if you carry through their logic, are they going to ban Catholic Churches, Muslim Mosques?

Exactly, what they are doing is absurd and a really lame attempt to jump on a bandwagon and try and outdo everyone else in their support of gay rights. Political posturing at it’s worst.

No point in beating a dead horse. All acknowledge that it ain’t gonna happen.

One is not require do eat any of this. The chargrilled sandwich only has 290 calories and 4 grams of fat. The are one of the few places that also offer char-grilled nuggets (80 calories in the kids meal) and a fruit cup option.

No need to find such a red herring.

I didn’t read the whole thread, but I have to say I honestly don’t “Get” this whole Chick-fil-a thing. It just seems like there is a force or forces building up hysteria about it for no reason other than to polarize people. Some minor thing has been hyper publicized and something has been made out of nothing–but why?

The man who owns it stated his belief… he’s a private citizen and is entitled to believe what he wants. He’s not going to discriminate against anyone… his stores aren’t going to discriminate. It’s not like Chick-fil-a is going to write or rewrite public policy. It’s a fast food place.

So why boycott and on the other hand why have “Chick-fil-a” days where you go out of the way to buy their products? Who started all this on both sides? Why? I mean, if you take a step back and look at it from the outside, no matter what side of the gay marriage debate you are on… getting worked into a frenzy about fast food is pretty ridiculous.

I don’t know, it just feels like somehow the public is being “played” in all this. Great, I am turning into a conspiracy theorist.

Or you could go to the meal calculator and make a more informed decision about your food
:rotfl: Chick-Fil-A’s nutritional numbers are worse than the ones I provided - they show 440 calories per sandwich, 16 grams of fat, and 1,400 mg of sodium!
You can support an organization that is standing up for traditional marriage and feed the family nutitionally sound food at the same time.
You ain’t gonna get nutritionally sound food at Chick-Fil-A - too much fat and way, way too much salt.

Your wife, even if she were a lousy cook, would do better by your family cooking at home.

No red herring at all. What do you think most patrons of that place order? The nutritionally sound options or the regular chicken sandwich?
