Because it is to be presumed that I’m a liar, right?
It is presumed you don’t know.

There are a great many things that come to mind when considering you.
‘Liar’ is not one of them.

However, unless you actually have the sales figures in front of you, it is very easy to be mistaken as to what exactly a company anchors itself on.

Chik-Fil-A’s success has always been an enigma to me.

It’s probably because I just can’t get that excited about a chicken sandwich. If I’m going to splurge on fast food (which I don’t do often), I’d much rather get a juicy Five Guys or In-N-Out burger.

Also, the whole joke about cows not being able to spell just isn’t funny IMHO. I see enough poor spelling in my daily life from people who aren’t aware, let alone trying to be funny. 😦

All that said, I’m glad to see they defend traditional marriage.

A good number of Irish-American Catholic bar and grill owners in NYC would presumably support traditional marriage. Ought I make stopping at a saloon a regular part of my week?
You know, if you do not have to presume because they make their beliefs well known, what’s the harm? There is a doughnut shop that is run by some good parishoners we patronize regularly, probably every month or two. As far as supporting Chick-fil-a for one day, I see no harm in that. For those with weight issues that still want to show support, they really do have some good choices.

Chick-fil-A Backlash ‘Important Moment’ for Religious Freedom, Catholic League Head Says

ncregister.com/daily-news/chick-fil-a-backlash-important-moment-for-religious-freedom-catholic-league

“We have the chief executives of two American cities who want to punish the president of a private company simply because he supports traditional marriage,” Donohue told the Register. “This is beyond belief.”
This article is dated today, 7/30. It’s already been established that what those men said previously would be illegal, but the Catholic League is still cranking this hurdy-gurdy?

Is there not anything more important to Catholics than Chick-Fil-A? Abortion, maybe? The five non-negotiables? Anything???

Or is Chick-Fil-A the new non-negotiable? 🤷

It just seems like there is a force or forces building up hysteria about it for no reason other than to polarize people.
Raise your hand if you’re in favor of polarizing people. 👋

But because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold, not hot, I will begin to vomit thee out of my mouth
It’s amazing how obvious it becomes, just by reading this thread, who are the hot, and who are the cold.

It’s PC to be hateful, petty and vindictive in this country, now. 😦

I fear that our beautiful nation is in for some horrible times. Very horrible times, indeed.
Disagreeing does not exactly equal being hateful.

I prefer my Chicken sandwiches hot
I prefer my Catholic faith hot. I understand Christ’s lament. I want to vomit when I read posts by people who “self-identify” as Catholic, but their posts identify them as anything but. Thanks to Mellow for raising the matter.

I hope you prefer your hot sandwiches from CfA. You must get the grilled sandwich. Only 4 grams of fat, and no msg. With that surgery you had, you must know that.

But, 780 mg of sodium. He could do still better by grilling the chicken at home and going easy on the salt.

Tell you what.

This Wednesday I’ll buy an extra chicken sandwich in honor of my friend Rich.
You need not lend your direct support at all.

But I do ask you put in a few extra exercises to make up for the extra calories.

It’s a win-win.
You can claim your support for the stand Chick-Fil-A has taken on traditional marriage.
NOTE - Not Chick-Fil-A, just the position on traditional marriage.
You get extra benefits from the time working off my extra caloric intake.
And I get more chicken.

Adolf Coors tried to do the same thing, opposing gay rights. He put large amounts of his personal fortune where his beliefs were. It took a while, but the end result was that Coors Brewing Company is one of the larger sponsors of gay events, and they advertize heavily in gay media today. When I was stationed in the San Diego area, a local billionaire named Doug Manchester came out as opposed to gay rights. The result today, over time, is that his businesses actively promote gay rights, and even have booths at gay pride events.

Chic-fil-a may find that this stance will have a boomerang effect over time, as it has with some other businesses who have tried the same thing.

I don’t know the Fil-A family personally, but if they have been knowingly willing to forgo 1/7 of their income due to religious reasons, and knowing the climate is not particularly Christian-friendly, I doubt they care if it has an adverse effect on business. Now if Chic Fil-A becomes a huge proponent of the gay-pride movement, I’d be quite shocked.

Excellent. Sure; I’ll put in some extra time on the stationary bike. 🙂
It’s a win-win.
Yes, it is. 😃

That may be true about the Coors Brewing Company, but the conservative Adolph Coors Foundation is still around along with the Castle Rock Foundation it founded.

Wow!

Mark Steyn puts the whole issue into perspective, regarding Boston mayor Tom Merino’s accompanying announcement:

nationalreview.com/articles/312542/tolerance-enforcers-mark-steyn

Ahh, don’t you love relativism? If Muslims call for violent acts to be committed against gays, it’s okay, as it’s their religious freedom. But if anyone else wants to simply say “hey, we think marriage shouldn’t be redefined” then they’re considered like Nazis.
It took America about 30 seconds to figure out that these bombastic mayors carrying on about not giving Chick-Fil-A permits are exemplary of the twisted level of double-think utilized by Progressives to demostrate their gracious “tolerance”.
Oh, it’s not just so-called “leftists”. Have you heard of Grover Norquist? Michael Bloomberg? The New Jersey governor? They support the same nonsense, and even receive money from the people quoted in the Steyn article. Do you think Romney would have opposed giving money to that mosque where they preach hate and violence? Of course not.
Interestingly enough, it wasn’t just conservatives that pointed out the overreach of the Mayors of Boston and Chicago. Traditionally left leaning newspapers and columnists also pointed out that these guys had gone WAY too far.
Exactly, what they are doing is absurd and a really lame attempt to jump on a bandwagon and try and outdo everyone else in their support of gay rights. Political posturing at it’s worst.
Exactly.
I vote “YES”, you should frequent these bar and grills to show your support. In light of your plea to “moderation”, just limit yourself to one shot of Jamison’s at each. 😃
👍

Developments like these show where such business owners’ loyalties truly lie: money. They were never ardent supporters of anything other than their own wallet. They only played the “anti-gay” card to drum-up business. They found that they got more business by supporting the “pro-gay”. Lesson learned. It was never about principle for these clowns.

That’s avoiding the issue. .
Possibly, but then, it’s an issue that you made up, not one I raised. Now, why don’t we ask why you raised this issue? Better yet, would you have raised it if the Cathys were l-----ls? If they didn’t lead people to a true Christ, but instead, some sort of l-----l, false, wildeyed Christ, that preached a gospel of hot, steamy, illicet sex for all, no holds barred, and no penalties, would you still need those hard numbers?

The topic involves traditional marriage, which is a wonderful topic for faithful Christians to want to discuss, but you seem to want to avoid that topic at all costs, by hijacking the thread with everything in off topic comments from your weight loss to concerns about hard numbers on their evangelization. 34 posts on this thread so far, and nothing about genuine Catholic teaching. We have:

A comment on your weight loss
McDonalds
restrooms
packing lunch
restrooms again
McDonalds again
restrooms again, with something about brown and yellow

this could get long, so let me skip ahead

flaming conservatives
irish saloons
The ACLU, politicians, and enemas

Well, I think I’m getting the idea. Has the moderator forbid you from making comments on topic? He usually tells us not to make any off topic. You have made 34 off topic, and none on topic.
Conjecture, absent some hard numbers.
Correct. I never stated that hard numbers were available.
Non-Catholic Christians have been Christians way before Lumen Gentium. 🤷
Correct again. Why would you state the obvious? I never stated anything to the contrary.
