The hatred and vitriol from the same people preaching “tolerance” aimed toward that company is simply absurd. I wish there was one near me so I could support them.

I have to say I am floored. If an alderman tried to ban a gay establishment based on the fact it was run by homosexuals, they would have half the country screaming for his head. There are no people in this country more intolerant than those who preach tolerance and are willing to cram it down the throat of anyone who disagrees. The hatred and vitriol from the same people preaching “tolerance” aimed toward that company is simply absurd. Of course it will get worse in the future. "The persecution that accompanies her pilgrimage on earth will unveil the “mystery of iniquity” in the form of a religious deception offering men an apparent solution to their problems at the price of apostasy from the truth. " If it got better, Christ would decide that He didn’t need to make a Second Coming, for the final battle, to put evil in it’s place forever. The religious facade is amply visible right here on CAF. The old “self-identify” thing, while their posts indicate that they have taken the wrong road, the one away from God.catholicnewsagency.com/news/chick-fil-a-flap-shows-drive-to-suppress-religion-douthat-says/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+catholicnewsagency%2Fdailynews+%28CNA+Daily+News%29&utm_term=daily+news
I think this is true. I think some people honestly value “gay rights” more than they do religious rights. To me, this is scary. I hope that this sort of thing doesn’t get worse in the future to the point where people try to make preaching against homosexual acts, homosexual marriage, and such as “hate speech” or persecute the Church even worse.
If the usual pattern ensues, it will take some time, and will be a reaction of the management which replaces the current management as business falls off. I see on Facebook that there are protests gearing up. The long term effect will be a fall off in business. Greed will prevail once the controversial management is swept aside. At least, that is the usual pattern. Time will tell.I don’t know the Fil-A family personally, but if they have been knowingly willing to forgo 1/7 of their income due to religious reasons, and knowing the climate is not particularly Christian-friendly, I doubt they care if it has an adverse effect on business. Now if Chic Fil-A becomes a huge proponent of the gay-pride movement, I’d be quite shocked.
Yep. One that I am familiar with personally was a billionaire who had become an ambassador. So, he decided to add to the staff at one of his houses and hired an additional cook. He hired a famous actors chef away from her, to assist his own chef. Shortly after being hired, she had a female stay overnight in her quarters. The chef (her boss) was ordered to track her down at the wildlife park the following day, where she had taken her nephew, to fire her and get her out of the house. The same person who did this was very active in the Democratic party as a financial supporter (enough to be given an ambassadorship), and was publicly all for gay rights.Ahh, don’t you love relativism? If Muslims call for violent acts to be committed against gays, it’s okay, as it’s their religious freedom. But if anyone else wants to simply say “hey, we think marriage shouldn’t be redefined” then they’re considered like Nazis.
Oh, it’s not just so-called “leftists”. Have you heard of Grover Norquist? Michael Bloomberg? The New Jersey governor? They support the same nonsense, and even receive money from the people quoted in the Steyn article. Do you think Romney would have opposed giving money to that mosque where they preach hate and violence? Of course not.
Exactly.
Developments like these show where such business owners’ loyalties truly lie: money. They were never ardent supporters of anything other than their own wallet. They only played the “anti-gay” card to drum-up business. They found that they got more business by supporting the “pro-gay”. Lesson learned. It was never about principle for these clowns.
Why would they experience a long term loss of revenue? There’s zero evidence for this possibility. The Chic-Fil-A maneuver should be viewed with the same skepticism as any other corporate propaganda. They will enjoy the press, but once they settle into the long term loss of revenue, they will quietly start putting posters up in gay bars. If they follow the example of others, there will be Chick-Fil-A floats in Pride parades, with boys dancing around in their undies.
For the first time in 5 years the local Chick Fil A put up a sign about the Disney Cast Member 2 for 1 meal deal on Thursdays. I would guess that’s because they didn’t do their usual bang-up business this past week. I know quite a few folks who were regular visitors for years and didn’t go this week. (I only ate there once, really did NOT like the food. Soggy and tasteless)Why would they experience a long term loss of revenue? There’s zero evidence for this possibility.
Sorry to disappoint you, but I’m not a catechist, and I need not provide anything “about genuine Catholic teaching” to the Forum. We have some folks here who do a very good job, indeed a far better job than I, of explaining the Faith. Pay attention to them, then. The topic involves traditional marriage, which is a wonderful topic for faithful Christians to want to discuss, but you seem to want to avoid that topic at all costs, by hijacking the thread with everything in off topic comments from your weight loss to concerns about hard numbers on their evangelization. 34 posts on this thread so far, and nothing about genuine Catholic teaching.
A comment on your weight loss
McDonalds

packing lunch

McDonalds again
restrooms again, with something about brown and yellow
Oh, dear. If side comments from me or from anyone else disappoint you, please put us on Ignore.this could get long, so let me skip ahead
Been counting, eh?Has the moderator forbid you from making comments on topic? He usually tells us not to make any off topic. You have made 34 off topic, and none on topic.
Are you saying that homosexual activists, who probably don’t frequent CFA anyway, are going to bring Cathy’s restaurant chain to its knees? For the first time in 5 years the local Chick Fil A put up a sign about the Disney Cast Member 2 for 1 meal deal on Thursdays. The concern will probably be what happens when all the publicity dies down and people forget about it and move on to the next thing. Will all these Christians who are swarming them now forget about them in a few weeks? Will the people who are angry now come back?
If a store manager spefically asked an employee if they were gay and chose not to hire based on that, then yes, it’s obvious discrimination, just like a store manager would NEVER ask a potential employee about religion, a store manager would NEVER hire a potential employee based on sexual oretention (sp?).Never saw one here in Chicago. How are they standing up for something? Sounds like they are teetering very closely to a dangerous place of discrimination from an employment standpoint.
They are not a church, though I’m sure they would love the tax free status of one.
Maybe they stay away from Chicago because they know they will be unable to continue their business in that way without incident here.
We’ll see how long and how vociferous the clamor from Catholics, who are now making Chick-Fil-A their cause célèbre, will last. The concern will probably be what happens when all the publicity dies down and people forget about it and move on to the next thing. It’s not just Catholics - anyone who values the First Amendment should be concerned as well. We’ll see how long and how vociferous the clamor from Catholics, who are now making Chick-Fil-A their cause célèbre, will last.![]()
Yes. As I said earlier, I have never eaten at Chick-Fil-A, but I intend on frequenting their establishment from now on as a show of support for free speech and religious liberty…but I cannot begin until the Dormition fast ends on August 15…it is a Lenten-like fast. It’s not just Catholics - anyone who values the First Amendment should be concerned as well.
Maybe it’s just me, but I’d put the Five Non-Negotiables ahead of the Chick-Fil-A controversy. Which is not to say that it isn’t more important to some than what I’d do.It’s not just Catholics - anyone who values the First Amendment should be concerned as well.
No one need worry of my ‘clamor’We’ll see how long and how vociferous the clamor from Catholics, who are now making Chick-Fil-A their cause célèbre, will last.![]()
Why is that funny? Did CFA ever say they hated gay people? What I find really funny about Chick-fil-a is that they have a 2 for 1 meal day for Disney Cast members every payday. Disney is one of the more gay friendly employers in the country. So Chick-fil-a is helping gay people save money while funding anti gay marriage programs.![]()
Well, one of the non-negotiables is related to the CFA controversy.Maybe it’s just me, but I’d put the Five Non-Negotiables ahead of the Chick-Fil-A controversy. Which is not to say that it isn’t more important to some than what I’d do.![]()
