Stupid. Just stupid. I hope he learns something from this, but he’s already giving interviews claiming HE’S the victim. Not the girl he just berated and seemed to have on the verge of tears. What a five-letter word.
He is the victim of his own agenda.

He gambled that support of the gay agenda would carry the day.
He lost.

Perhaps some like minded posters here on CAF will offer the guy better employment than he had before, or maybe some place like Huffington post, or maybe Rahm Emanuel.
HuffPo may be a bit too right-wing. Maybe Markos Moulitsas would have a job for him.

Since they couldn’t stir up the mob against Cathy, they now want to try diplomacy. 🤷
It will be interesting to say the least to see where this ends up once the politicians are involved.

I don’t even want to begin to guess.

It will probably depend on how the election goes. I’m sure the political analysis departments are busy crunching numbers and reviewing their statistical formulas right now: “Should we or should we not support this?”

I wouldn’t hire that guy to clean my toilet. I would hire the young lady (not to clean my toilet), since from what I saw she handled herself about as well as you can handle yourself in a situation like that. To take your irritation out of the lowest person on the totem pole is about as low as you can go.

I agree with that. She did very well.

It’s funny to me that you brought up the Daily Kos. I read a diary this morning talking about the Mitt Romney/ Harry Reid dust up. The comments were analizing the veracity of the discourse. It made me wonder when was the last time I heard a conservative questioning the veracity of any given argument. I’m not a big fan of the website, but I was impressed with the readers urgency in finding the truth.

Wow… the Chief Financial Officer of a company did this and didn’t expect repercussions?? The guy showed some serious lack of judgment.

Here is the statement from the company which used to employ him:
Vante regrets the unfortunate events that transpired yesterday in Tucson between our former CFO/Treasurer Adam Smith and an employee at Chick-fil-A. Effective immediately, Mr. Smith is no longer an employee of our company.
The actions of Mr. Smith do not reflect our corporate values in any manner. Vante is an equal opportunity company with a diverse workforce, which holds diverse opinions. We respect the right of our employees and all Americans to hold and express their personal opinions, however, we also expect our company officers to behave in a manner commensurate with their position and in a respectful fashion that conveys these values of civility with others.

Good luck to him finding employment.

The statement from the University of Arizona, which earlier this year employed the guy as an adjunct lecturer in Finance, is less negative. But it also suggests he won’t be re-hired
Adam Smith held an appointment as an Adjunct Lecturer, Finance (non-tenure eligible) in the Eller College of Management at the University of Arizona from January 2, 2012, to May 20, 2012. He presently holds no appointment with the University.
The University of Arizona is committed to being a community in which all members support the free and respectful exchange of varied ideas and perspectives. We strive to have a workforce that is diverse and respectful of different viewpoints.

I am shocked that this thread is still so active. There’s still more to say that hasn’t already been exhausted? 🤷

Translated, that means “We fought hard to get special treatment and will not tolerate anyone who suggests equality because we’re a protected class!”
Talk about hitting nails on their head! 👍

It seems to me that the people who always go on about “diversity” only seem to care about superficial things, such as colour, sexual proclivities, country of origin (as long as it’s not part of the West), etc. When it comes to things that should truly matter, such as diversity of thought and opinion, such promoters of “diversity” are the first to impose an unquestionable orthodoxy.
We must fight diversity to have diversity!!😃
And we must be intolerant to anyone who doesn’t agree with everything we say! In the name of tolerance!
Diversity is code for liberal. Liberals are dividing this country.

I think we should fight for what unites us, not what separates us.
Exactly. Criticise ideas by stating other ideas, not by slapping labels. And I’d start by stopping the use of words like “liberal” and “conservative”, as so many of you Americans don’t even use them correctly anyhow. (I equally loathe terms like “homophobic” and “Islamaphobic”.) I think all of you should read Broken Compass by Peter Hitchens, and how terms like liberal and conservative no longer have any useful meaning.
I am sure that it will. These are working Americans who need to get back to work, not Occupy Wall Street, after all. 😉
Of course, you do realise that there are many many well to do people who are into homosexual acts, right? Why do you think they are so strong? They have loads of money. It’s really petty and dishonest to act like pro-homosexual lifestyle advocates are hippies camping in parks. I know plenty of people who practise the gay lifestyle who make more money than most “pro-family” types.

Let’s not stoop to the level of those who would denigrate the family position, yeah? For every crazy butch **** flipping out, there are plenty of people acting similarly with the opposite position. Why don’t we be ‘the bigger man’?

Not sure if you’re being sarcastic, because it’s difficult to tell through the internet, but for what it’s worth, I support the first amendment in its entirety. Just as some Christians have decided not to purchase Oreos, I don’t feel comfortable spending money at an establishment that I know donates money to causes that I feel are atrocious. I don’t want to come off as hateful…

Thank you for your well wishes, but just as it would seem silly for a Muslim to tell you that they wished you would return to Allah, I kinda feel the same way when you wish I would turn to God. As a former Catholic, I understand your concern, however misguided I now feel it is. Again, I’m not going to disrupt my life for a God I don’t believe in.
As a former Atheist, I genuinely hope and pray that you return to the Church. Obviously, that would require finding out that the God you don’t believe in exists. 🙂

You are here, on a Catholic forum, so it’s a good start. 👍

I am having fun reading the media’s desperate spinning the low turnout of the counter protest.

I love the exaggerated language of these liberals. Chick-fil-A isn’t supporting traditional marriage; they’re not even simply opposing gay marriage. No, in the language of the liberal (re)activist, they’re “funding anti-human rights groups.” As though these organizations are trying to take away homosexuals’ jobs, homes, and food and herd them into ghettos and forced labor camps.

Homosexuals have every right that we have, including the right to marriage. The fact that the legal definition of marriage does not meet their desires doesn’t amount to denying them a right. It’s not as though heterosexuals can get married to someone of their own gender and they can’t. You can’t say you’re denying one group of people a right that no one has to begin with.
