I know we are getting off topic but I no longer shop at Home Depot. Fortunately there’s a Lowes nearby.
Campbell’s Soups
Hallmark
McDonald’s

I’m sure there are many more who support gay rights, and that the numbers will continue to grow. Corporations make their decisions, for the most part, based on public opinion. Entrepreneurial companies, such as Chik, who still have their founder at the helm, tend to take positions which reflect the founder’s views. I would bet, though, that we will not be hearing any more of Mr. Cathy’s views on the topic. Many of his franchisees are probably sending him some very angry communications, and trying to figure out how to get out of this mess. His speech is protected, but it would not surprise me if lawsuits are threatened, and attempts are being made to enjoin him, just to shut him up.

This is why, I believe the companies like Coors Brewing, Ford Motor, etc… have had to launch pro-gay campaigns, to counter to ill effects to business of the public statements of people like Henry and Adolf. Once a company gets large enough, ownership with unpopular opinions get muzzled my management. It will be interesting to see if Cathy has now been muzzled.

Hey! That’s a redneck wedding cake!
It is, indeed. The photo didn’t show the barrel full of cans of beer (used instead of champagne; at a wedding brand-name beer is used instead of the normal generic). 😃

BTW, I’m a redneck myself and I do hope nobody takes offense.

I ate dinner there just the other night. The one down the street has a dual drive thru. It was full in both lanes and wrapped completely around the building in a 360! It was a challenge to get out, let me tell ya!
There are none near me and I don’t even know if there are any in Oregon, but I would like to know if you think that business has increased because of the controversy.

Just curious, is there anyone here who only shops at companies who’s CEO’s are pro-life?
I shop at places where the CEO’s are pro-abortion. I also listen to Gary Glitter. Hey hey. But I had an opportunity to do something small for a really decent person, Dan Cathy, so I did it.

You know its funny CEOS of companies that have publically come out and supported the legalization of same sex marriage or a woman’s so called right to choose expect us who don’t agree with those views to be tolerant and patronize their businesses or a least shut up and say nothing-those who do call for boycotts are(considered by them to be) hateful and intolerant. And I’ve never heard of any Christian leader advocating denying these business a licence to operate in an area…

The Starfish Story
Original Story by: Loren Eisley
One day a man was walking along the beach when he noticed
a boy picking something up and gently throwing it into the ocean.
Approaching the boy, he asked, What are you doing?
The youth replied, Throwing starfish back into the ocean.
The surf is up and the tide is going out. If I dont throw them back, theyll die.
Son, the man said, dont you realize there are miles and miles of beach and hundreds of starfish?
You cant make a difference!
After listening politely, the boy bent down, picked up another starfish,
and threw it back into the surf. Then, smiling at the man, he said
I made a difference for that one.
What difference does one chicken sandwich make?

Not me; I shop pretty much anywhere. I wish that companies and businesses would stay completely out of the political sphere–as businesses, although the CEO’s as individuals certainly do have the right to state their own views. Like Calvin Coolidge, I believe that “the business of business is business.”

But I think that the pro-traditional marriage reaction to the Chick-fil-A controversy was just a gut reaction by a great many traditionally minded people to the extreme hatred exhibited by the left when this particular CEO simply said what he believed. They are tired of being put down for not being progressive enough.
I can understand that. However, I caution that we mustn’t counter offensive rhetoric with offensive rhetoric rhetoric. Love, compassion, and understanding is the only way we can win the ‘culture war’. You can’t win an argument or convert people with hate.

After noting that the research firm is named, “You Gov BrandIndex” and noting how they collect the data, I am stupendously suspicious and unconvinced. I’ll just wait and see and continue to patronize Chik. 🙂
It is clear that many on the left have a negative perception of the company now. I imagine many on the right will have their opinion unchanged. So clearly that would decrease the value of their “brand” by this measure. But if liberals never ate there anyway, it won’t have much impact on business.

Well, buying chicken sandwiches doesn’t constitute either offensive rhetoric or hate. It’s just support for a company that people perceived to be unfairly attacked.

'On July 19, the company released a statement saying that its tradition was to “treat every person with honor, dignity and respect — regardless of their belief, race, creed, sexual orientation or gender.”

“Going forward,” the statement read, “our intent is to leave the policy debate over same-sex marriage to the government and political arena.” ’

This is probably as close to an apology as Chik will give. But it sounds like Cathy has been muzzled by his own company execs.

God doesn’t do that. It is one’s own sins or state of grace that determines if one goes to Hell or to Heaven.
Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones. 27 In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed shameful acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their error.
28 Furthermore, just as they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, so God gave them over to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done. 29 They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, 30 slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; 31 they have no understanding, no fidelity, no love, no mercy. 32 Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them.
The last part, " but also approve of those who practice them." is one, granted, only one, but that one, at least, that he won’t have to sweat.
