It was never my intention to offend anyone, the catholic faith or any other religion. I was merely trying to bring light to the subject in order to aid those who experiance similar occurrences.
Those experiences can only be determined by competent and holy priests.

Claire Myrkle McGrath speaks very, very strongly against raising the kundalini serpent.
You should checkout her interview at EWTN. She knows of what she speaks having once been very deeply into New Age.
I am a Roman Catholic, I do not practice yoga or any other type of non catholic practice. I do belive in the soul which we all posess the body and the holy spirit. If we took some more time to understand others perhaps they would not feel the need for information outside of the church.
If we take the time to study what the Church teaches and the enormous volumes written about the spiritual life, then you will realize that there is absolutely no necessity to go beyond the Church.
The church does have the information on the gifts and charisims of the holy spirit. It is not spoken of often and as so quickly proven here met with indifference.
If you trust in the Holy Spirit, if it is truly His work, He will see to it that if He has given you that gift you will be able to use.

Sister Briege McKenna was given the gift of healing and for a while refused to even use it. But through constant prodding by our Lord, she finally did.

There is no need to go to any Hindu or Buddhist teacher because whatever you need to make sense of any spiritual movement in you is already found in the Catholic Church.
I am not afriad of unfamiliar words to the point that instead of listening without judgements I would jump to make the person attempting to find understanding and unity feel as if they were an outcast. There is a lot to learn in the world. Our love and compassion as Christians will lead others to God not looking right
That is true, but the Truth of Christ, the Gospel that is the Person of Jesus Christ must be proclaimed. We cannot equivocate on that.

There is too much relativism in the world today putting Christianity on par with the other religions. It is not. It is the Church founded by God Himself.

Which spirit?
I don’t think so. I don’t think you will find anything about chakras and awakening the kundalini serpent in any Catholic teaching.

You should hear about Claire Myrkle McGrath’s experience.
You are assuming that it is God.
You are assuming that what is at work in Kundalini is the Holy Spirit. It is not.
The saints have done this from being centred on Christ.
They were not chasing after spiritual bliss they were after Christ.
The saints yes. But not because of Kundalini awakening.
That was purely a gift from God which they did not strive achieve. What they strove to achieve was a closer following of Christ.
If it is indeed the Holy Spirit yes.
Yes, but you have to make sure that it is indeed the Holy Spirit.
How do you determine who truly has them and who is a fake. How do you know that those who claim to be gifted by the Holy Spirit might actually be under the influence of the devil.

The devil is very subtle and masquerades as an angel of light.
Huh, who shuns that notion? But discernment is very important. And when discerning it is not the Hindus or Yogic than kind guide you but rather holy priests.
Thank you, benedictus. 👍

Thank you Frances.

So many people Catholics these days think that all religions are the same and that so long as you believe in God then that is all that is required. So dabble in Eastern Mysticism and all sort of New Age stuff not realizing that it is so incompatible with Christianity.

An exorcist (I think it was Fr Fortea) was asked why there seems to be an increase in demonic posession these days.

He replied that with the rise of Christianity, possessions decreased, but now, with the increasing fascination with the New Age and occultic practices, demonic possessions are on the rise again.

I hope that Catholics, instead of of investigating other religions would actually start deepening their understanding of their own religion.

Much of these fascination is to do with our desire for the sensational and a pre-occupation with our feelings.

St Teresa’s advice must be taken to heart and when one starts getting this visions, apply one’s self to scrubbing the floor and doing menial tasks.

We are not trying to connect to some pantheistic impersonal god but to the God who came and died for us that we might have life eternal.

There is no other way to the Father but Christ.

BTW I love your signature. We women Catholics must remind ourselves that all the time. We are daughters of the Church.

Precisely! 😦 And because of the Church’s ecumenical efforts in turning to dialogue with the world, and so with the major religions of the world, some think we can now utilize the methods of some of those religions in approaching Christian prayer. The danger - and it’s a real danger, as you’ve pointed out - is that a syncretistic result of too quick an acceptance of Eastern methods will bring a consciousness that will actually dilute or obstruct progress in the spiritual life and that this error will be quite subtle, though no less harmful for its subtlety. However, if one tries to correct a brother or sister in this we are accused of not being loving, because all depends on what I call “luv”, that wishy-washy approach that cannot see truth and love as flowing from the same Source.

We know that the cosmos and the human arena are not neutral but practically and actually a battleground of good and evil, and that the most malevolent evil is damned spirits or fallen angels who have a certain control of cosmic laws, and that passivity of soul is precisely the condition which makes it easy for demonic molestation or worse! The demon having been driven out comes back with seven more to occupy the empty house, and the latter is worse than the former, as the Gospel warns us. And we know that this is not idle speculation regarding Hinduism and Buddhism where strong demonic elements persist alongside genuine human values.

When you two are finished patting each other on the back about what good and knowledgable Catholics you are, you may remember that your mission in life is spreading the Word of God, a mission seldom accomplished by dismissing the thoughts or considerations of others. I am in no way suggesting that the practices of other religions are valid, but You might try educating without berating or accusing people… it will get you much farther and reap far greater rewards. If I’m trying to help somebody open up to Christ and his Church, I doubt I would get anywhere by telling them that what they are doing is demonic. There are many good people in this world. Many religions help people to be better versions of themselves. While we may know that the only way to the Father is through the Son, it doesn’t mean that any action done in this world by a non-christian is intrinsically bad or not inspired by God.

Perhaps you should hear the witness of those who have been there and done that.

Go to EWTN and try to get the testimony of Claire Myrkle McGrath. You can also check our her story on the link provided above in theCROSS AND THE VEIL.

It is not a dismissal of the thoughts of others to say that there is a great possibility that the inspiration received is from the devil. This is a known fact by those who are in the deliverance ministry or the exorcists.

Not all “nice” visions are from God. That is a simple fact.

Many who have dabbled in new age have paid a high price.
There are many good people in this world.
And where did we say other wise?
Many religions help people to be better versions of themselves.
If that is enough, then why did Christ came? Is salvation about becoming a better version of yourself? Is that all Christianity is about?
While we may know that the only way to the Father is through the Son, it doesn’t mean that any action done in this world by a non-christian is intrinsically bad or not inspired by God.
Pax Christi,
Jon
And we do not say that all actions done by none Christians are all not inspired by God.

You ought to improve your reading of what we post because you are jumping to waaaayyyy too many conclusions that are not even claimed in anything we have written.

The issue here is about kundalini yoga.

I suppose that Gandi was possed by demons and probably the Dali Lama as well he is not Hindu, but you never know maybe the buddhists are demonic too!

I highly recommend this episode of Women of Grace (linked below) that aired just last week on EWTN. Johnnette Benkovic and Susan Brinkman discuss Yoga and its incompatibility with Christianity, and the spiritual dangers people expose themselves to by participating in it. They also explain why there is no such thing as “Christian Yoga.”

It seems the same sort of bogus stuff . . . I wouldn’t waste time on such stuff.

Uh-oh. Don’t look now, but every Catholic and Orthodox Christian attending Mass blesses themselves by touching their higher chakras . . .
  • Forehead (Bliss - the Beatific Vision)
  • Heart (Love)
  • Throat (Ecstacy - the Holy Spirit)
. . . even though most have no inkling why the Apostles gave us this Tradition, or whether doing so is just “stuff” to do.

Yep. Why do we raise our right hands to bless people? Why does the pope lay his hand on a new bishops temple? Why do we lower our heads when we say “by the power of the holy spirit”? Why do we cross our forehead our mouth and heart? Because they all should belong to Christ. Why would a mere body part be burning inside of Blessed Mary’s and Jesus’ chest. Because they are significant. I had ashes rubbed on my forehead on Ash Wednesday, why? Because some people can feel these things. Our thoughts are not enough. Our thoughts are mere human they are worth about as much as the ashes. We are nothing without God. There is more to this, not a conspiracy, not man trying to be supernatural, but man in his shame and insignificance can truly feel something else the part that they desperately wish to rejoin but due to original sin could never measure up to being worthy. We have our savior to redeem us. So we can actually despite our wretchedness humble ourselves enough to experience a
mere quotient of our Heavenly fathers love and make an attempt to spread that through the world as his Son did. That is our goal I thought as Catholics. No one is up to the task, no one is good enough, but we are Gods children and we need to be like children and recognize our inferiority. Our reason is not enough only grace is enough. We
can never achieve anything on our own or from our own will. We have to give up every part of ourselves that we thought important and relearn it and no amount of studying or experimenting can do it. New Age Spirituality, or Kundalini cannot do it. No one could ever raise anything from God by will. And if someone says they did than they are probably lying. I never meant to place any other impression. I a very cafeteria Catholic who after her mother died realized she was not a good enough person. I decided to see Christ in everyone and then one day something changed. When I tried to figure it out I read lots of things, I merely saw similarities between two things.
I chose Christ from an early age but in my confusion I read. I never doubted in our Savior. I did see how one could be pulled in the other direction and thank God I did not post on this web a year ago because some of you here would have scared me so badly I may have given up any spirituality for good.

I have read and known of many people who became possesed and controlled by demonic entities (and/or “false gods”) by engaging in kundalini-chakra work.

I know what I’m about to say may be humorously dismissed but here it goes------

The Kundalini force that lies dormant in your chakra system can be awakened in your back and is almost always generally described as being like a SNAKE. So you are awakening a SNAKE in your back----------
  1. What does that remind one of? Hint-----garden and naked people in it.
  2. Snakes are almost always (rightly or wrongly) associated with “guess who.”
    And just evil in general.
So why mess with something that has such obvious “bad symbolism?”🤷
I’m saying this as a former New Ager/Pagan.👍

Never tried it but I know enough about it to confidently state it is Demonic in origin. Plus, as others have pointed put, totally opposed to Church teaching.
Someone needs to tell Moses, who as commanded by God had lifted up a bronze serpent on a pole to heal and save His people.

I don’t know where you got that information from but the three crosses have nothing to do with what you have outlined above.

The three little crosses are traced on the forehead, lips and heart.
The prayer that accompany this is : Lord be in my mind, in my lips and in my heart that I may worthily proclaim your Gospel.

We do not touch the throat. So nothing in the mass has got anything to do with chakras.

I don’t think this was ever questioned.

What was being disputed is Kundalini yoga and whether it is compatible with Christianity. It is not.
We are nothing without God.
And no one here said otherwise.
There is more to this, not a conspiracy, not man trying to be supernatural, but man in his shame and insignificance can truly feel something else the part that they desperately wish to rejoin but due to original sin could never measure up to being worthy.
And what does awakening the kundalini serpent have anything to do with original sin or our redemption from it.
We have our savior to redeem us. So we can actually despite our wretchedness humble ourselves enough to experience a
mere quotient of our Heavenly fathers love
No one here disputed this so I don’t know why you are writing as if somehow by questioning kundalini we are also questioning this.
and make an attempt to spread that through the world as his Son did. That is our goal I thought as Catholics.
This needs to be clarified. Christ did no come to spread “love”. Christ came to redeem us from sin.

Christ’s mission can be summed up in His words 5 days before His crucifixion: And when I am lifted up I will draw all men to MYSELF.

Christianity is not about the fuzzy, wuzzy feeling we erroneously give the term “love” to. The goal of every Christian is to proclaim the gospel that is the PERSON OF CHRIST. The gospel is not just Christ’s feel good sayings but Christ Himself.
No one is up to the task, no one is good enough, but we are Gods children and we need to be like children and recognize our inferiority.
No one said other wise. It is not a matter of recognizing our inferiority but our creaturedness. And that is what it means to be humble. Humility derives from the word “humus” which means “of the earth”.
Our reason is not enough only grace is enough. We can never achieve anything on our own or from our own will. We have to give up every part of ourselves that we thought important and relearn it and no amount of studying or experimenting can do it.
And again, I don’t see anyone here saying otherwise.
New Age Spirituality, or Kundalini cannot do it.
And that you have got 100% correct.
No one could ever raise anything from God by will.
But we can raise everything TO God by will. As a matter of fact that is what we are all required to do, to consecrate our very lives to God. It is a choice we need to make and so therefore an act of will.
And if someone says they did than they are probably lying.
I haven’t seen anyone on this thread claim so, so I don’t know why you are even writing this.
I never meant to place any other impression.
Well, in your first post, you certainly gave the impression that you think kundalini, Hinduism and Buddhism are the go.

You wrote that the Catholic tradition is somehow ill equipped to deal with this “manifestations” and it is not. She has a long history of TRUE spiritual mysticism.
I a very cafeteria Catholic who after her mother died realized she was not a good enough person.
If you are a cafeteria Catholic as you claim, then there lies the problem. I don’t think there really is such a thing as a cafeteria Catholic. To be Catholic is to accept all the teachings of the church and shun those that go against them. A Protestant may pick and choose and still be a Protestant Christian but Catholics do not have such a luxury.
I decided to see Christ in everyone and then one day something changed.
And that, every Christian is asked to do. What soever we do to the least of His brethren we do to Him.
When I tried to figure it out I read lots of things, I merely saw similarities between two things.
This part I don’t know what to make of, because I don’t know what things you saw similarities in.

I chose Christ from an early age but in my confusion I read. I never doubted in our Savior. **I did see how one could be pulled in the other direction **
And that is actually a very real danger, as those who dabbled in New Age - but who have thankfully been freed from it - testify.

That is why I found your post troubling because compared to these others who have actually said “No don’t go there”, you are actually saying that the practice is actually helpful.
and thank God I did not post on this web a year ago because some of you here would have scared me so badly I may have given up any spirituality for good.
No you wouldn’t have. If you have an open mind and teachable heart, you would have seen the truth that people here would have tried to make you see. You would have been directed to the counsels of St Teresa and St John of the Cross and the guidance of St Ignatius to subject these spirits to discernment.

Not all spiritualities are of God. Some people say “I am not religious but I am spiritual” and that is just plain hogwash.

One’s spirituality must be measured by the Christian measuring stick because not all truths are relative. The major truths, the life changing truths, the truth about our origin and our destiny are not relative and cannot be grasped by just professing one’s own spirituality. That can be found in religion, in the Church that Christ established.

Yet the throat is on the same height as the shoulders, which do get touched:

youtube.com/watch?v=elEanV8RP1w

The wider point is that the chakras represent the locations within the body of divine emotions (bliss, love, ecstacy) of the three Divine Persons (Father, Son, Holy Spirit) which a person experiences when by the grace of God, the chakras are opened.

I just don’t understand your form
of sarcasm:) Transluminent??? I don’t think I have ever heard that word before.
