I agree. I’m still waiting on that argument too.Another tedious call for evidence – not opinion, not argument – of how HP has corrupted anyone in the last 10 years.

These are people who are just cashing in with their own pet ideas. They have nothing to do with the books themselves.Like I wrote, a simple computer search of what is “out there” with Harry Potter’s name attached to it.

"Seekers’ Page
The Seekers’ Page is designed to provide background information for understanding the philosophy that we believe is behind Harry Potter. This philosophy is universal and timeless. Here you will find books and links on subjects such as alchemy, psychology, and various religious and spiritual ideas and systems."

"The Jesus Mysteries
by Timothy Freke & Peter Gandy
•What if there were absolutely no evidence for the existence of a historical Jesus?
•For thousands of years Pagans had also followed a Son of God?
•This Pagan saviour was also born of a virgin on the twenty-fifth of December before three shepherds, turned water into wine at a wedding, died and was resurrected, and offered his body and blood as a Holy Communion?
•These Pagan myths had been rewritten as the gospel of Jesus Christ?
•The earliest Gnostic Christians knew that the Jesus story was a myth?
•Christianity turned out to be a continuation of Paganism by another name?
The Jesus Mysteries by Timothy Freke and Peter Gandy:
Freke and Gandy explain in great detail and with amazing sources how Gnosticism and the Jesus myth are aspects of a Mystery tradition that has been with us for much longer. Whether you believe in an historical Jesus or not, this one is utterly essential.
This book will have WAY more of an effect on your conceptions about Jesus than the Da Vinci Code ever could."
That stuff sounds like it belongs on Coast to Coast AM.These are people who are just cashing in with their own pet ideas. They have nothing to do with the books themselves.
And you think teens will want to (or) be able to discern that. These are people who are just cashing in with their own pet ideas. They have nothing to do with the books themselves.
The claims in The Jesus Mysteries seem outrageously … how do I put this charitably … stupid. And you think teens will be want to (or) be able to discern that.
Have you ever spoken with a Wiccan?
Yes, I have. I have worked with several of them and none of them have said that Harry Potter depicts their actual beliefs and practices. Also, there is a member of CAF who is wiccan too. He/she has said the same exact thing. And you think teens will want to (or) be able to discern that.
Have you ever spoken with a Wiccan?
And my children, who will have read the books if they want and are of the appropriate age, will certainly know that people have killed Wiccans (I wont cite a specific number because I lack proper support) for being heretics and pagans, but these are real life beings, not fictional school children with magical abilities in a young adult book series. By forcing a connection between Harry Potter and Wiccan, people are creating all of this controversy, which is precisely what the Bishop preached against.Oh, and by the way, did you know that Wiccans will be telling your child that the Catholic Church killed MILLIONS of their beloved witches?
Truthfully, I have no idea how the ehow article is related to this. It talks about Wiccan High Priestesses, which do not appear at all in the Harry Potter books and have yet to come up in this thread. I must question what its purpose is.Well of course, all of this is ridiculous. But apparently great fun for children, teens and young adults.

You still haven’t shown any concrete evidence. What you have shown is that wiccans like Harry Potter, pseudo-theorists like Harry Potter, etc. There isn’t any real evidence in the actual books to support your claims. Sure, there will be similarities between British folklore, Harry Potter, and Wicca since it draws often from the same sources ie. mythology, history, folklore, herbs, etc. Its from the same common European tradition. We have some of the same traditions, etc so they will overlap. That doesn’t mean that Harry Potter will lead to the occult. A teenager can probably discern properly if he/she has actually been taught the Faith. You do realize that as a result of the Faith not being taught like it should have been these past couple of decades that people are more susceptible to going into the occult and one of the reasons why is because they are drawn to the mystical and the supernatural. All of that has been drummed out of them since to them Christianity is either warm, fuzzy I’m ok you’re ok or it is very judgmental, over reactionary and sometimes cruel. These are the views of Christianity that they get. So, they look else where. Wicca, the occult, etc is seen as a place for the misfits and those that don’t belong. Its about rebellion.Well of course, all of this is ridiculous. But apparently great fun for children, teens and young adults.

Indeed. I hear and read about Christians worrying about a one-world government and lack the self-awareness to recognize the cruel way they treat others.By screaming about innocent things like Harry Potter, it makes it much harder to take you seriously about things that are truly dreadful.
If only people where more secure in their faith…

Barb, please take a minute and think about this. When you only post links, and provide no support for what they say or explain why they are important to this thread in supporting your arguments or refuting yours, you are weakening your argument. This stuff appears to be purely meant to draw connections that aren’t there.Free Wicca Coursewww.magickaschool.com

Are you making this up? Do you really beleive this?Wiccan and Harry Potter come up together because they both practice Magick.
I do too. It gives Christians a bad name. Nothing is worse for my Church then people who act like jerks, babble on about “Harry Potter”-or worse.Indeed. I hear and read about Christians worrying about a one-world government and lack the self-awareness to recognize the cruel way they treat others.
Where, Barb? Where? Just include a link to a Google search page with the words “Harry Potter” and show the first instance of Wiccan. Or search for “Wiccan” and show the first instance of “Harry Potter”.Wiccan and Harry Potter come up together because they both practice Magick.
