Only if Purgatory really is in ColoradoI don’t follow football.
I am a nominal Maple Leafs fan. I think hockey season counts against Purgatory as “time served”.

Ugh! I find it more than distasteful - it raises the hair on the back of my neck. The display on the altar wasn’t the worst thing…there is a video showing the priest holding the Seahawk logo up and chanting “Sea” while the congregation responds out loud “Hawks.”It’s representative of what happens when God is replaced by We in the Liturgy.
Bill Donohue loses me when he starts talking.Donahue lost me on his “Let’s pray that the Yankees win…”
Apparently he misses the point of prayer altogether. It seems he should be praying for Lane, the player who had the most grueling injury in the first quarter.
Ice hockey is a great, truly great sport, often underrated and overlooked (unless you are from Canada, Minnesota or Norway).I don’t follow football.

You do know they were paying A&M for the rights, no?Oh, and that Twelfth Man plagurism that they, and many others, have stolen from Texas A&M, not cool. (see King Gill, 1922, Dixie Classic).
It used to be a big deal. Maybe about 50 years ago. Sports is the new sacred, among other things. It makes it doubly upsetting when reports are that the diocese has been contacted for a response, and they’ve simply said “it’s not a big deal”.
Sacrilege. Not. A. Big Deal.
There was a school shooting a couple of months ago in that area, and I think that some of the victims (or maybe it was the shooter - I don’t recall just now) attended St. Mary’s.I agree that the display was inappropriate. And I’m a Seahawks fan.
But did anyone notice the last sentence? The completely irrelevant reference to the school shooting?
Witnessing of the Sacrifice of our Lord Jesus Christ does not have to be solemn?I think people need not make mountains out of molehills. That’s what Baptist bras are for!
Seriously, if a Catholic church does have a Seahawks display, take it with a sense of humor. Not everything has to be solemn. Hey, we once sang, “Dropkick Me Jesus, Through the Goalposts of Life” before a Saints game. And the priest in St. Dominic’s Parish wore a green hat on St. Patrick’s Day.
Yes, I pray for the Saints to win; especially over the Cowboys and the Falcons![]()
I did notice. Funny how every political angle must be pushed as all costs. Just cram in the reference even though it has absolutely nothing to do with the story. But did anyone notice the last sentence? The completely irrelevant reference to the school shooting?

Do people still go to the games in Toronto with the paper bags over their heads?I don’t follow football.

No, just at Mass.Do people still go to the games in Toronto with the paper bags over their heads?

Any parishioner who stops coming to Mass over this is a Catholic who has absolutely no understanding of the Eucharist.Absolutely horrible! And some clergy wonder why parishioners stop coming to Mass! I pray that God grants that pastor more understanding.![]()
Not to be confrontational but what kind of Catholic puts up sports banner in a place of worship??Any parishioner who stops coming to Mass over this is a Catholic who has absolutely no understanding of the Eucharist.
I can understand a parishioner who moves to another parish. But stopping coming to Mass? In Peter’s words, “Lord, to whom should we go?”
