A gentelman who used to sell furniture for my father was a cop years before. He shot and killed a man once who he thought had a gun. In fact, the man turned around and pointed his fingers at him trying to make him think he had one – collossally stupid move. It turns out shooting him was unnecessary, but based on the information Paul had, he was blameless.Remember, just because the Iraq invasion turned out to be unecessary, doesn’t mean that it’s unjust.
Saddam never proved that he dismantled his weapons, despite dozens of opportunities. Given that, and given a well-documented history of funding al Qaeda terrorists, Bush could not take the chance that a terrorist-enabler had nuclear weapons to give them. Sure, based on what we know now, it may have been wiser to deal with Iran or North Korea instead. But the decision couldn’t be made on what we know now, it had to be made baed on what we knew then.
I’ll continue to pray for Cindy. But I’m not going to support efforts to bring our troops home until the job we started in Iraq is finished. I hate seeing our soldiers die, but I’d rather the terrorists run into the marines in the middle east than civilians in the midwest. Every terrorist we kill or capture in Iraq is one less that can make its way here.
Blessings.
