guess you don’t think much of our other trading partners who were in on that treaty.
Not entirely. But they weren’t stupid. We were the sucker in the deal who was going to pay the lion’s share to venal dictators and hurt our economy, giving them a competitive advantage. They probably thought they were being smart in doing that. And in the short term, they would have been. In the long term, the big beneficiary would have been China since it didn’t have to pay or reduce emissions, either one.

I think the U.S. is well served by being isolated from the country that calls for her death constantly.
There are many countries who would love to see the U.S. markets crash. And don’t think they won’t try. Russia and Saudi, for example, could destroy our oil industry by simply producing more oil themselves. Oh wait, they already did that.

I realize that’s the fig leaf given to it by the Obama administration. Truth is, that money had been approved by U.S. Courts as a source of recompense to individuals damaged by Iran, and it was frozen by the government for that purpose. Obama substituted taxpayer money for the sequestered funds. So in a way, it was “Iran’s money”, but the taxpayer will pick up the tab for the damages Iran has caused and for which Iran should have paid.

Dangerous game for Russia. It took their economy down in 1991. Russia has been called “a gas station masquerading as a country” because of its utter dependence on petroleum sales. (When is the last time you saw anything “Made in Russia” at Walmart?)

The cost of production in Russia is only slightly less than that in the U.S. and our transportation costs are less.

You’re talking about the Supreme Court case, which Obama knew full well was pending before April.

It’s actually worse that I said it.

Congress authorized execution of judgments of over 1,000 victims of Iranian terrorism in 2012. The Iran fought the execution on the Iranian money for four years. The victims won in the U.S. District Court. Iran appealed to the Circuit Court of Appeals. The victims won there. Iran appealed to the Supreme Court. Ultimately, the Supreme Court upheld the executions granted by the lower courts.

But before that, Obama gave the money to Iran, substituting American taxpayer responsibility for that of the murderers in Iran. Gave them the money like a supplicant. Gave them your money and mine and that of the victims.

That’s because they tried to do it themselves imo.
I would have to disagree. In 1991 and prior, Saudi Arabia pulled prices down, which caused Soviet prices to go down. Without higher prices, the Soviet Union couldn’t foot its budget. Not saying that’s the only thing that pulled the Soviet Union down, but it was one of them.

I am not so impressed with Colin Powell here.

The phrase ‘drifting away from the constitution’ seems purposely vague and his attempt to link the protestors to his vague assertion seems quite forced and contrived.

The idea that President Trump is drifting away from the constitution ( but not violating it) and implicitly suggesting that this is why there is so much carnage on the streets, does seem reckless and wanting to create trouble.

If President Trump has violated the constitution then that is what the Supreme Court is there to decide. To my knowledge Mr Powell hasn’t raised any serious charges.

IOW: That person calls themself a republican, but they are not really a republican.
Close, but not precisely accurate. It’s when someone calls themselves a Republican, but they are not “Republican enough” for the right wing fringe of the party.
