Much better and more accurate link:

As a new member, I have a question for my fellow Roman Catholics.

It seems there are quite a few in the forum all through the threads trying to redirect people to what I have noticed to be bogus or inferior links to information. Does it seem like a correct assumption to treat this as a temp to stain the truth?

What are the best Catholic reference WebPages?

I in no way attempt to stain anything. In my spirit I seek answers to the many questions surrounding God…Christ…Holy Sprit…Christianity… History of Religion. The Bible states emphatically…study to shew thyself approved. If I do a google search on 73 books of the Bible… and come up with the aforementioned link, that is not a temp to stain anything. I am in fact searching. I am not familiar with all of the web sites out there in internet land and therefore when I did a search, the Catholic web site did not come up first. I will look at the link you provided. But keep in mind…I have an open mind an will research until I find what I’m looking for whether it is a Non-Catholic site or a Catholic web site.

Sorry if my last post seemed to infer your link was an attempt to stain the truth.

The first note was to point to a better link FYI.

The second point was for both of us. The Internet is an awesome resource, but as we all know, there are so many inferior sites, either out of ignorance, or tying to stain the truth. The devil is very clever, and it’s hard to know which sites he’s working with.

I assume there are Catholics on this site, which I would appreciate schooling on the websites they have found to be honest/truthful.

I have a question-
While DH and I were engaged, I attended service with him, before we attended Mass. When I realized it was “Communion” Sunday, I went and hid in the restroom. When I came back, DH had saved the cracker for me (I got back just in time for them to hand out the juice).
I “took” “communion”, but I never felt right about it. When he and I discussed it on our way to Mass, he told me that him saving “communion” for me was a political statement about his feelings regarding my stance as a Christian. Apparently, only those who have received Jesus and their personal Lord and Savior were to receive. And he and MIL had been going round and round as to the stance of Catholics as Christians. I told him “Thanks, but next time (if there is a next time)… NO.”
This was a few months back, but I am feeling like, perhaps I need to confess this? Thoughts?
The best rules of thumb are:
  1. If it doesn’t “feel” right, don’t do it until you can be convinced it is “right”. Give your friend back the carbs and tell him you are on the Atkins diet. The devil loves embarrassing us into sin.
  2. if you are not sure, confess it. Your priest will be happy to give you guidance. It never hurts and always helps.

The gist of the matter is:
  1. Catholic Eucharist is a Sacramental receiving of the REAL Body and Blood of Christ.
  2. Protestant Communion is a SYMBOLIC fellowship memorial of the Last Supper.
The LAST SUPPER is also the world’s First Communion. The Apostles were the participants. What happened afterwards?
They slept in the Garden of Gethsemane.
Jesus revealed Himself to his adversaries when they replied that they were searching for ‘Jesus of Nazareth’. Immediately, they fell to the ground. (John 18:4-6)
If Catholics receive the Real Jesus, do we externally display the ‘Jesus’ encounter after Communion?
We attend Protestant services and partake of the symbolic fellowship meal.
As the Catholic Eucharist is limited to baptized Catholics, we should consider allowing ‘anonymous’ Catholics to partake of the Eucharist.
‘No one can come to Me unless He is drawn by the Father Who Sent Me ;…”( John6:44)
“Anyone Who Comes to Me I Will Never Turn away” (John6:37).

What is an “anonymous” Catholic?

India is a multi religious country. There are many who, though not baptized Catholics, obey the Beatitudes in toto. These are called anonymous Catholics.Mahatma Gandhi is one such example.
In temples, we are given ‘Prasad’, a share of the offerings blessed by God.
At weddings and funeral Masses, these anonymous Catholics are debarred from receiving the Eucharist, as they are not baptized.
“…It is not for these alone that I pray, but for those who through their words put their faith in Me…”(John17.20).

In India, a visit to a temple or a pilgrimage to a holy place is a journey for blessings and gifts from God.
The pilgrims are blessed by God.
On their return back to their family and friends, they distribute sweets, fruits, coconuts, flowers received from the holy place as a sign of sharing these blessings form God among their family and friends. This sharing gift is called ‘Prasad’ (holy blessings).
Likewise, when they visit a Catholic Church, they lineup to receive Holy Communion. However, they are politely ‘snubbed’ and told that this Communion is only for baptized Catholics.
It doesn’t matter if the Catholic communicants ‘sleep’ in real life instead of caring for their neighbor. (Luke 10.30-37.The Good Samaritan).
On the other hand, the Good Samaritan may qualify for the description of ‘An Anonymous Catholic’.
These non-Catholics uphold and practice the Beatitudes in real life. (Matthew 5).
The Protestants, who receive a symbolic Communion, are often more committed towards a value based life.
If Catholics receive the REAL Body and Blood of Christ, is it reflected in the post Communion period?
The world recognizes an inebriated drug addict emerging from a den. Does the world recognize a communicant who is filled with the Holy Spirit?
If Protestant communion is symbolic, why can’t Catholics receive
this symbolic communion?

I’m so glad all the non-Catholics have the “Beatitudes” covered. Us Catholics can relax. :dancing: :whacky:

The elderly sister smacks viper on the wrist with her ruler, than responds, “Home work; reading and a 20 page thesis on the Saints. The Encyclopedia of Saints will now be required text!”

The sister goes on, “viper, you are staying after school for making such a foolish statement”. 👍

No, we are not allowed to receive any Protestant communion for basically the same reasons they are not to receive ours.

The Eucharist is the sign of unity in the Church. Protestants are not in full communion with the Church, and their communion is not valid due to their lack of valid orders (priesthood).

When one receives the Eucharist at Mass one is declaring one’s unity with the teachings and mission of the Church. For a Catholic to receive Protestant communion is to deny that truth. In the same vein, it is hypocritical for a Protestant to receive the Eucharist while not believing/practicing the teachings of the Church, and may be dangerous to his soul.
Do you really think that Jesus is that complicated?? I believe what the Bible says when Jesus says where two or more are gathered in my name, there I will be. God is neither Catholic nor Protestant. We humans are the ones who have really screwed things up in that sense.

I have often heard that Protestants should not receive holy Communion at Catholic Mass, and totaly agree that they should not…But is it permissable for us Catholics to participate in Protestant communion services???
No.

when Jesus said “I am the bread of life…”
Hundreds refused to believe and walked away from him (John 6)…

To receive the host in the Catholc Church, one must truly believe in those words as narrated in john6:51 "I am the living bread that came down from heaven; whoever eats this bread will live forever; and the bread that I will give is my flesh for the life of the world." ".

As for Catholics who receive communion at other churches…
as far as I see it plays on 2 things:

  1. ]fellowship with our seperated brethren - which is a very Christian thing to do 👍 - and Jesus surely won’t frown on this 😛* however**
*]it can mislead them to think we beileve in the same things as they do. … try thinking along the lines of St Paul’s advice to the Corinthians (1 Cor 8: 1-13) eating meat sacrificed to idols
(Note: I’m not linking symbolic communion to idolatry, rather the perspective of handling sensitive topics on faith)
    “…not all have this knowledge…”
(not all Christians agree with the weight of Jesus’ words when he said "For my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me and I in him.")

“…make sure that this liberty of yours in no way becomes a stumbling block to the weak…”
(although Catholics know that they consume ‘symbolic communion’ with the intention of fellowshipping - it can mislead Christians to assume that its not that big a deal to us after all)

“…Therefore, if food causes my brother to sin, I will never eat meat again, so that I may not cause my brother to sin…”
(I’m not saying us consuming communion will lead our feliow Christians to sin – but if it devalues their understanding of Christ’s physical presence in The Eucharist 😦 … then I’d stay away from symbolic communion - it states my stand on how much the Eucharist means to me, and how I’ll never consume anything else that calls itself ‘Holy Communion’ but doesnt fall in line with my belief)

    In conclusion-
the topic of the Eucharist IS Hard to Accept
( many of his disciples who were listening said, “This saying is hard; who can accept it?” John 6:60).

Thus its not just humans who complicate things
Jesus seems to ‘complicate’ it for us too! 😃
(**Jesus knew that his disciples were murmuring about this, he said to them, “Does this shock you?” **John6:61)

You don’t get it. Protestants left the Church that Christ instituted. Granted, most protestants now are only protestants out of ignorance and inherited their religion, but none the less, they left Christ’s Church.

And yes, Jesus is Catholic. He instituted the Catholic Church!!! Catholicism is not a denomination. It is the universal Church.

I thought Jesus was of Jewish descent?

Jesus was born in Bethlehem

Per the New Illustrated Bible Dictionary: " After Joseph died, Mary with the rest of the family lived on and became a member of the church of Jerusalem after Jesus’ death and resurrection."

Jesus only had the Old Testament … (The Torah) which is what the Jews had for scripture… So…in what way do you have information pertaining to Jesus being Catholic?
