“Gag order”. 😛 I don’t really like that choice of words. The cardinals are all equal and they have agreed to no more interviews.

I can understand their caution, even if it might seem a bit overkill.
I can understand it. The Vatileaks scandal and the Italian press has not been good for the Church.

Everyone deciding to not speak to the press is probably very wise right now while they do what is termed the “interventions” as the conclave itself is only about the actual casting of ballots, not discussion of the issues.

Discussions of issues happens before the conclave. So all the footwork is being done NOW. 🙂

With the conclave beginning tomorrow (the original report I linked on the OP was only 1 day off), I thought I’d bump this thread and hopefully anyone who wishes to share thoughts about the conclave can continue to do so here.

God bless.

Not until the evening Rome time - about 1pm ET I believe.

The Cardinals say Mass in the morning, then go to the Sistine Chapel in the afternoon. After they all take the vow and hear the meditation it is supposed to be about 7pm before they vote.

Here’s the schedule.

Do the Cardinal electors sleep in the Sistine Chapel until the Conclave is over? or do they vote and then go home?

No, they are staying at the Casa Santa Marta (House of St Martha) , which is a “hotel” like building within Vatican City

The Sistine Chapel is only for voting.
