Hummm, that’s a little more than my opinion…
Strange. I didn’t hear the Pope come out and chastise Catholics for what some of you on this thread term ‘disobedience’…hmm. What did he do? He actually congratulated the winner and gave him a subtle indication of what he expects re-the Church. God bless him. A model of Catholic decency.

Lots of things are being ‘passed off’ as Catholics these days: ignorance, spite, slander, calumny, causing scandal, causing division, inciting hate…Need I go on?
…And anger, don’t forget anger!

1000 posts, this thread may be soon closed.

An irresponsible administration and one that does evil may end up being a retribution for America’s ill ways as well.

Obama won. God allowed it.** Get over it./**
QUOTE]

Many unborn children will never have the opportunity to “get over it.” 😦

Actually, those responsible are the ones who’ll have trouble ‘getting over’ what they have done. The children, unless I am terribly misinformed, are enveloped in God’s mercy - a much more desirable place I’d imagine.

The Church allows us to weigh the issues - it does not direct us to vote ONLY based on abortion. It’s really that simple.
You are unfortunately very simply, well, completely wrong. Sorry, but all of the documents sited here many times show different than what you believe. Abortion and other intrinsic evils outweigh any other reasons. Only if both candidates hold the same views on abortion can the proportionate reason be weighed.

Obama certainly did not win a number of states and let’s hope we find out about all of this voter fraud and poll watchers being denied access to voting precincts.

If they have the same views then either one may be chosen, what would be the need to weigh their abortion stance against anything else? In any event, you can’t compare a stance that changes with every poll, so what’s your point? You choose to believe Romney’s stance in the primaries…I choose to believe the words coming out of his mouth at a particular point in time and weigh that against his credibility. What makes me wrong and your right? Absolutely nothing. That’s the reason you have your conscience and I have mine.

Please reread. There is an important distinction. Hans says, “…Rules him out by default…” This is not true, especially since abortion (intrinsic evil though it is) is an established right by law. People of informed conscience can still have difference in prudential judgment on how to address issues. Yes, abortion is still intrinsic evil but it is not immediately actionable as are other issues. It is not a simple as some would like to believe. That is proven since we have had “pro-life” presidents with no resulting change in the law.
Sorry Michael you have been duped. A Catholic is required to follow his conscience, with that responsibility comes the requirement to inform and form his conscience in Catholic moral teachings. After this takes place there are no instances where a Catholic can vote for a pro-choice Candidate even though not for that reason, unless the opposing candidate is of the same opinion.

In this recent election there was a clear difference. Obama is for abortion on demand and in word, deed and action has supported what his party supports in the platform. Romney does not hold the same views except for rape, incest, and life of the mother. This is stark difference, perfect? Not at all, but the choice for a properly formed conscience cannot be Obama.

If you care to make the case for a no vote, or a third party pro-life candidate go ahead, but to say what you say here is just wrong and misleading.

Saying “Obama won, get over it”, and let’s make sure we mention this man has voted for infanticide 4 times, that he’s shamelessly promotes taking lives from others.

I’m proud I voted against increased abortions if this is what some people think are good.

I pray for whatever president we have but his values are very bad and we may go down the road Greece has and let’s remember all who elected him.

Only when an intrinsic evil is not involved.

And in the case of intrinsic evil, the only time one is allowed to “weigh” anything is when both candidates support an intrinsic evil. In that case, you are allowed to vote for the candidate who will lessen the intrinsic evil. Voting for the candidate that supports the intrinsic evil on demand is ruled out by default.

“The Church”? And which Church is that? 'Cause it sure ain’t the Catholic Church that I belong to. No, that Church instructs me to weigh the issues and vote MY very own personal conscience based on the morals it taught me.
"A Catholic with a fully and properly formed conscience will vote according to the teachings of the Catholic Church. If not, then his or her conscience is not really properly formed—or he or she is arrogantly defying the teaching authority of the Church and sins grievously."

It must be said, one can read Jill Stanek’s column, look at those who pray outside abortion mills, many Catholics and many women. The women’s right view could be nothing less than feminist extremism. The abortion industry is lucrative.

Also, let’s pray, this Benghazi affair could see Obama out of office.

Really? Tell me, are you Catholic? Just asking.
When Obama was elected in 2008 I wrote the first letter I’ve ever written to a president. I didn’t vote for him and didn’t want him as president but felt like he might do some good for our country and prove me wrong. So I wrote him an encouraging letter. I hoped that since he was part black and part white that maybe he could do something to heal the wounds of racism in our country. I thought maybe he could bring us all together somehow. I sincerely wanted to give him a chance.
He’s done nothing but prove me wrong in that hope ever since. I’ve never seen such a divisive president in my lifetime. And I’ve never seen one before that doesn’t seem to have pride in being American.
Maybe that doesn’t bother you. But it bothers me.
I’ve prayed for his conversion because he sends a very confused, very troubling message to me and to the world.

A Catholic is required to follow his conscience, NOT yours.

Entitlements are already being cut back.

We have a number of layoffs.

This is not charitable.

Those who voted for Obama probably did the worse thing for our country.
