This caught my eye.

I was in Singapore for work the first week and a half of the year and someone tagged along with me. My travel partner was going to take some day tour to some other countries in the area. She decided not to go though because of hearing of some illness that was spreading.

It wasn’t big news at the time. When we first landed after being off the grid for 30 hours we were wondering why WWIII was trending. The significance wasn’t recognized until after we left.

New announcement by Zhong Nanshan. The epidemiologist who discovered SARS in 2003 just announced that the incubation period of the coronavirus can now go up to 24 days! 10 days longer than previously thought.

Coronavirus could have incubation period of 24 days — 10 days longer than…

Research says coronavirus ‘spreads rapidly by human-to-human transmission’

May God bless us and our country.
Thanks Toddy, that’s a very important development, the incubation period may be much longer than that 10 day period we all heard about originally.

Speaking from a Christian and yes, a Humanitarian point of view, I hope the Quarantine centers are safe enough. I’ve read in some places, that those places might be good places to catch this virus. Sad.

Well now. Another photo of law enforcement not wearing gloves.

Wonder why ? Had he already been vaccinated before the accident happened in the lab ?

And notice how loose President Xi j(name removed by moderator)ing’s mask is during his public appearance.

I have a box of n95 masks. His is not. No eye protection.
Hate to imagine all the opportunists scheming for the time the virus comes to their city.

The manhandling that I see in some of the videos of people being rounded up for quarantine is disturbing. Could that happen here in the United States?

Doubtful. Remember the to-do over the one nurse returning from Africa who was put in quarantine for potential Ebola exposure? It would be a field day for lawyers if the US just started rounding people up for quarantine.

I remember the incident you are talking about. She was detained against her will and put up a big stink but was not released until clear.

Also, I don’t imagine many politicians pressing flesh in the months ahead.

Not sure why the ugh, but this may help"
Unfortunately, from bats, pangolin, whose scales are used in traditional Chinese medicine, may be an intermediary carrier.

To other news,

Indonesia could be a place of concern. Something to watch.

Indonesia halted even garlic shipments from China.

I’ve been avoiding any food from the region. I like tuna, but won’t buy any from Thailand for example.

Not sure how wearing a garbage bag will really help
More likely to asphyxiate your child

As long as the bottom is open, it makes for an effective alternative for a mask.
I understand masks to be in short supply.

At least that would be logical.
I do not know if it would work.

I may have said this already but one article I read said it’s better to wash your hands often than to wear a mask.

World Health Organization, WHO is now describing the virus as a “grave threat” to the world, I believe.

As I recall it she got her lawyers involved and refused the quarantine and went on about her business. A judge also rejected the quarantine.

There is plenty online about this. I recall her being the only one to publicly protest quarantine during that time period of concern. Everyone else seemed to be compliant. Doctors without borders seemed to also want to be a cut above the rest. Look where we are today. Ebola remains.

My feeling is that all boots hitting the ground become common denominators.

The new coronavirus will be called COVID-19, according to the World Health Organization.

So, it has a name. Reading all of this matter, it seems they say SARS was a coronavirus as well. All of that is technical talk. We will see if this name holds, COVID-19.

I quit donating to Doctors Without Borders after that incident, and the other case where some doctor was sent back to NYC with ebola and ran around the city on the subway having a night out with friends at like 3 or 4 different places before he was diagnosed.

Doctors Without Borders had quite the attitude about how they didn’t feel the public was at risk and anyway they were doing such great life-saving stuff that we should all just set aside our concerns. They were arrogant and insensitive.
