He didn’t, at any time indicate “the man seriously suggested injecting disinfectant into the human body to kill the virus.”
Telling doctors to investigate injecting disinfectant into the human body does in fact constitute a suggestion that this is a reasonable thing to do. He did not suggest Joe Public do this, but he did suggest it was an idea the doctors should pursue.

Not sure what this has to do with one side being completely biased against the President, and one side being biased towards him.
This entire issue has nothing to do with bias, and it should not.

Any political side , person, group can make statements in error and this should be regarded as such.

Right, which I never said. Perhaps you could take up your beef with the poster who did. You asked for a quote and I gave you one from the press conference.

That said, whether he suggested researching instead of “doing it”, he is giving a kind of weird legitimacy to a stupid idea. And yes, a few people are stupid enough try it on that basis. Which is why the Lysol lawyers no doubt told the CEO to issue a statement pronto. Or the Lysol CEO asked his lawyers to draft a lawsuit-proof statement pronto, depending on how altruistic you think business leaders are.

They talked about skin and that skin may not be as effective but more studies needed to be done. This was all done a long time before Trump made his comments.
The discussion was never about applying disinfectant to the skin.

As an aside it has been known for a very long time disinfectants and soaps kill virus and bacteria. This is not novel or new.
Alcohol was not discussed. Isopropyl Alcohol was discussed, these are different chemical forms.

The comments about light and heat and humidity by the medical teams were made for studies in the Lab. A controlled environment.

Nope, it sounds like the conditioning most of us have from the time we are small children – at least we had if we were raised right. Boss asks for something, you know it is a command politely stated, not a “if you feel like it” question.

First things first. . . .
He didn’t say drink. He said to research injecting disinfectants
He actually didn’t say this.

I stand by my statement that this is political and the left are the ones going nuts on all this. It has everything to do with right v left. Anyone with any type of discerning mind (such as a scientist) could see Trump wasn’t talking about actual household disinfectant. He was talking about treatment possibilities that could have the same type of efficacy as household disinfectants do on household surfaces. Do you get it yet? No? How about this. “Bleach is good at killing the virus on countertops. I wonder if a substance could be created that could kill the virus in a human body that would as effective?” Do you get it now? That is a lot different that what you all seem to be screaming about.

I’m not a scientist, just someone who hasn’t let DNC run media tell me what to think.

You might want to text Chris Cuomo’s wife.Apparently she has taken to bathing in bleach. A real brainiac there
Source? Bleach burns . If it is injested it burns internally, there is no cure for this, the person will die an agonising death over many hours.

My point is there are clearly a lot of low iq ndividuals out there.Presidents mistake is in not clarifying what he meant for the benefit of those not smart enough to get his gist
People in his position should never play a form of Russian roulette with the public , with words that he knows people will latch onto.

It’s on all the internet news feeds. She has commented on her bleach baths.

What is she doing and using?

How does this relate to what the President said?

He actually didn’t say this.
Actually he did. And that’s the problem. Even if he didn’t mean it as he said it, he said it and the damage is done.

I am a scientist (retired) and I couldn’t believe my ears. I was inclined to believe it was a doctored up misquote or quote out of context until I saw the video of the actual statement. I will agree that it was a rambling incoherent statement. Which is worrying on its own level.

And believe me I’m no flaming liberal.

Depending on the concentration, it’s no worse than swimming in a swimming pool. Pool chlorine is also hypochlorite (bleach). Also very corrosive. And few people know this but it swimming pool chlorine is one of the most dangerous chemicals that people have in their homes. It is such a powerful oxidizer (in powder or pellet form for pool use), that it will greatly accelerate a fire, or could even cause one if it comes into contact with organic material.

For that reason, when we still had a functioning pool, I stored my pool chlorine in a garden shed that was a good distance from the house.
I asked for a specific quote.
Knowing you couldn’t supply one, why respond?
I misunderstood you. I thought you wanted a direct quote of what the president said, which is what I gave you. Sorry.

Having watched the video, it comes across to me as a target rich environment for anyone that would like to criticize.

And yet instead of sticking with fact, people are making up fact in some bizarre notion that everyone just knows what he meant…and it is bad.

And when confronted to put up the actual words…well now we backpedal.

Instead of being reasonable and logical people talking about how ill prepared the president was, we have people gossiping about things he didn’t say and losing whatever credibility they had.

It works well in favor of the president.
Perhaps he wasn’t as unprepared as we would think.

Actually what is more worrying is that I had no clue what he meant. Which is why I was left scratching my head and thinking to myself “this can’t be real”.

Try to keep up with our president. He is ahead of the curve.👍😁
Guess you missed one of the posters here who put up an article on uv waves on the virus about a month ago.

@sallybutler gets the credit here.

It’s been updated.

I could have sworn Trump was referencing light being injected and was using the disinfected cleaning as a reference to cleaning of the lungs but with UV light. That’s how I understood it when I was listening to the conference. I haven’t went back though to listen. A company in Colorado is actually testing injection of UV light into the lungs to see if it kills the virus.

I’m not sure about the drinking disinfectant that has been mentioned by the media, I didn’t hear Trump say anything about that…but maybe the media can ask Michael Dukakis about it, his wife who drank rubbing alcohol after he took all her booze away from her and after he said he would let someone who rapped his wife out of jail.

My public pool has warning signs and a restricted area to store the chlorine. Even the odor can be noxious.

You don’t by any chance think that if so many posters here are having trouble parsing what he really meant, there might be a problem with his statements? The worst case scenario is that he recommended something stupid. The best case scenario is that he was just being incoherent.

He himself has a third version: that he was just being sarcastic. Which doesn’t ring true with his body language and tone during the clip.

None of these possibilities leave me with a warm and fuzzy feeling about the leadership of our great neighbour to the south.

I think that the end of the Trump era, whether it happens in January 2021 or January 2025, will end in tears,
