Thanks…I gave it a listen I think you’re right.Pop Media is almost anathema to me, but I like the Dream Syndicate’s cover of Let it Rain better than Clapton’s.

Let it Rain
I have never heard ANYONE try to cover a Steely Dan song. They are out of anyone’s league/
I ‘like’ the thread title but not this particular suggestion. I grew up in the 60’s/'70’s, and got Elton John’s version on the radio before I knew anything about pop music. I quite liked it then, but I’d never really heard the song until I heard it on Sgt Peppers. Why bother covering it? You’re on a hiding to nothing.
I agree totally. It speaks for what I fine group they were that they couldn’t be bettered in the performance of their own songs, though many have tried.I have to agree with you there. There are very few covers of Beatles songs that can match the originals, or even come close.
Yep. The world would be better off without his Pinball Wizard. Although he did a pretty good job in the film, which I guess was the reason of it.I love Elton John, but I’ve always thought his Beatles and Who covers were second rate.
Excellent
For the record, the original was written and recorded by Kari Jobe.
