I’m concerned about all the people that will refuse any vaccine even after it has been in the general public for a while. Everyone wants to get back to normal but few seem to want to take the vaccine when it’s finally available.
Assuming there is an available option without ethical issues I will get vaccinated after a few years.

will get vaccinated after a few years.
I understand everyone’s concern with being first in line to get vaccinated but, the hesitancy of so many to be amongst the early vaccinated makes it much more likely that our economy will also take much longer to recover.

I just find it ironic that many want to open society as quickly as possible while also saying that they’ll wait some long X period of time to do the one thing that will speed the process! Of course, it may be another year before we even have a good working vaccine.

(I’m not trying to put you into this category)

I’m concerned that given the urgency, it may be overly rushed (and probably would be cautious about any new treatment anyway). Although I do understand that everybody taking the wait and see advice will delay getting back to normal.

OK, so fetal cells can be used for longer, which would translates to a n easier and maybe cheaper production process. Which is important.
I totally disagree with this statement. It is easier and cheaper to rob a bank to get money for rent, but it doesn’t make it right.

It is easier and cheaper to be unscrupulous in business but it doesnt make it right.

It is easier and cheaper to use birth control rather than have 6 kids and the struggles involved, but it doesnt make it right.

When are we going to stop using this mentality as a justification for using aborted fetal cells?
Where is your evidence that other methods are equally easy and cheap? Hint: if they were, they would be using them.already.
Hint easy and cheap is not the bottom line here.

St John speaks of a deliberate sacrifice of a life. The only relevance of that quote here would be if the mothers in this case were deliberately getting pregnant and having abortions so that the fetal cells could.be obtained. Which is not even close to what actually happened.
I guess you are up to date with the aborted foetus medical trade. It is horrendous. This also should be stopped

For fellow Aussies following this thread. I was just speaking with family medical professionals about this issue who informed me…

The Australian Covid vaccine being developed by the University of Queensland is made using different technology ‘molecular clamp technology’ and does not use aborted fetal cells from all reports. It is at stage 2 trials and looks very promising. If it proves successful after stage 3 trials PM Morrison says we will be going with this vaccine instead.

There are two takeaways here, pray we will have a choice and this vaccine is succesful past stage 3 trials and there is alternative technology to the traditional methods developed last century.

As I have said before and was linked in this thread current aborted cells are cultures created from an event in the 60s. These cultures are used to study the virus. The virus is then cultivated in chicken eggs until it forgets how to infect humans effectively.

This leaves the vaccine with two optional steps:
  1. proceed as normal with the risk (however small) that the virus can reactivate
  2. kill the virus or tear up it’s cells and inject a dead virus the body can still identify and learn to watch for.
Both have its flaws and neither help patients with egg allergies.

There are no fetus cells in a vaccine. To use human cells defeats the purpose and would be no different then injecting you with tainted blood.

It is wrong to rob a bank, to be unscrupulous in business or to use birth control or to abort a fetus for any purpose. But it is not wrong to use the cells of a fetus aborted many years ago to create a Vaccine, or to accept that vaccine. There is however an ethical “concern” - we must carefully avoid creating a reliance on or a tacit support for future abortions.

We don’t need more.

Folks, I am pretty sure it is already in the flu vaccine which is being mandated in some states for children to go back to school.

What is one to do?

Read my link about UQ
We are talking past each other.

Human cells are used to study the effect of the virus on humans to establish a baseline. They are not used in the creation of a vaccine. Otherwise it would defeat the purpose of rendering a virus toothless.

Your research has nothing to do with the topic.

This is my thread, my topic. This topic is clearly about the Sydney Archbishop’s concetns Australia Catholics may have morally regarding the Oxford covid vaccine in development.
UQ is developing a vaccine that does not use this old technology. Their vaccine uses molecular clamping.

Review the thread.
