Poll: 1 in 4 Sanders supporters won’t vote for Clinton
By Nick Gass
04/06/16 12:37 PM EDT
One out of every four Bernie Sanders supporters said they will not support Hillary Clinton in the general election if she is the Democratic Party’s standard bearer, according to the results of a McClatchy-Marist poll out Wednesday.
While 25 percent of Sanders backers said they would not support Clinton in November, 69 percent said they would vote for the former secretary of state.
Among Clinton supporters, just 14 percent said they would steer clear of voting for Sanders should he become the party’s nominee, with 79 percent saying they would get behind the Vermont senator.
Overall, the national survey released on the heels of Sanders’ resounding victory in Wisconsin found him leading Clinton 49 percent to 47 percent nationally, with Sanders holding wide advantages among those younger than 30, Latinos, political independents, unmarried people and those identifying as liberals. Clinton, meanwhile, leads by significant margins among those 60 and older, among African Americans, married people and those identifying as Democrats.
Marist conducted the survey from March 29-31, surveying 1,066 registered voters, including 497 Democrats and Democratic-leaning independents. For that subsample, the margin of error is plus or minus 4.4 percentage points.

Wow! This caught me off guard, no question. Sounds not unlike the GOP v Trump, eh? 😃 (I am posting this here as I feel it relevant to Cruz v. Hillary.) What happened to all of the love?

🍿

On the down side, it sounds like Cruz’ “New York values” dig at Trump back in Iowa could come back to haunt him, big time in NY. Cruz and New York (Manhattan) are like oil and water. But, give it time. Moderates went for Cruz in WI, for the first time. The corporate media (my thanks to Bernie for always using that phrase, I love it so much) have been wrong before. I feel like they have a vested interest in derailing Cruz: he scares the living daylights out of them (see: “prolife, yes, really”) and he is bad ratings. I think they actually love the nuttiness of Trump, lots of sound and fury…then Hillary wins. They particularly like Trump’s antagonism within the GOP, the damage it does. They will be disappointed to see Cruz gain any support in the East. I expect it.

I don’t know what you mean by “may”. We ***do ***believe in the same God. We’re Christians too.
Apparently you didn’t read the rest of the post. Their god is okay with divorce and birth control. Their god does not exist in the Bread and Wine. Their god did not give priests the ability to forgive sins. Yes, many believe in the Trinity, but that is where it stops.

God Himself will decide which of us are true believers. I can only go by what the Catholic Church teaches while I am still alive.

queenofheartscv. You said (about Ted Cruz) . . .

I too liked Dr. Carson. Until I found out Carson was NOT Pro-Life.

That bothered me.

I do not think Carson got beat so bad in Iowa because of Cruz supporters Tweeting of a CNN news story.

I’ll try to address soon at least why I think Dr. Carson’s numbers tanked so bad so fast . . . and tanked BEFORE the Iowa caucuses (this is at least why he tanked with me and others I know. Admittedly we dId not attend Iowa caucuses but it is still why Carson lost our support).
It was so much more than a mere tweeting of a CNN story what Cruz did to Carson. There were speeches made on the caucus floor; there were phone calls made to carson supporters. It was a concerted effort to try and shock carson supporters to switch to cruz. you are excusing cruz, I don’t know why.

Cruz also did the fraudulent voter violation mailer in Iowa. Very dirty tactic.

He is (at best) a lapsed Catholic (he was baptized).
I don’t doubt that might be true, but at what age was he when his family joined the religion they are now? Oh he was not raised as a Catholic, I don’ hold him responsible, but then I am not a theologian.

“So now, Cruz has finally won an honest-to-goodness primary. This is great news for him, provided: (1) the general election is a caucus, and (2)** the national media universally denounce Cruz’s Democratic opponent the same way the Wisconsin media denounced Trump.
**
In that case, Cruz should do fine.”

From Ann Coulter.

Would your god be okay with me dumping a pot of ice water over you, to try to get you to stop spouting this stuff?

No. However, Jesus would probably suggest I let you dump another pot, sort of like turning the other cheek or giving you my cloak. 😛 :hug1:

And trump is?
he’s christian on paper perhaps. don’t care really, unless what they believe is really dumb like scientology or mormonism.

some critical thought is required.

Moderator Frank Luntz asked Trump whether he has ever asked God for forgiveness for his actions.

“I am not sure I have. I just go on and try to do a better job from there. I don’t think so,” he said. “I think if I do something wrong, I think, I just try and make it right. I don’t bring God into that picture. I don’t.”

That reminds me of a joke , it goes something like: One difference between God and donnald trump is, God doesn’t believe that he is donnald trump
What an assassination of character! Doing it on the wrong thread, too. I’d say you are playing God yourself by judging what’s in the mind and heart of someone else.

I’ve heard that in regard to others. It is both funny and true, no matter whose name you insert for Trump (except, of course, Jesus Christ).

I think Trump himself would appreciate the joke. He does have a pretty good sense of humor, at times.
Oh I think I can tell if it’s a good-hearted joke or if it’s denigrating to someone. Trump may have an ego but he nowhere pretends to be God, or even holier than thou. Cruz, I’m not so sure.
