I hear the teachers are on strike in Oklahoma and Kentucky. Just say the word and I’ll be there. Few things excite us hippies more than a good protest! ☮️

That is the toughest age in my experience.
I asked one of my sons after a Scout camping trip what they’d had for breakfast (to determine what to have for lunch). I got a noble and righteous speech on how he was all older now and didn’t need his mother always asking questions. Sheesh.

From my experience, sons never grow up in the eyes of their momma.

Although I’ve heard the saying, “A son is a son until he finds a wife. But a daughter is a daughter all of her life.”

I’ll sing Australian novelty songs.

And mow the lawn.

Isn’t that the place they used for the movie, “The Shining”?

Dibs on Room 217!

We’re not at the point of shutting down schools in my district, though two of the largest school districts in the area have been close a couple times in the past decade.

If we should decide to shut things down, march down the middle of Interstate 25 with our signs and shouting inanities – I’ll let you know. Peace! 👵🚬

Since the last time I was in that kind of protest I’ve gotten grey hair, had to begin wearing sensible shoes, and gained more weight than I care to think about. Count me in.👵 🍺

In typical form, he’s all back to normal this evening, and all is right with the world again. Can’t wait for the next episode…

Meanwhile, he’s got his first experience ever of the massive-online-state-mandated-standardized tests next week. The Catholics schools still use the simpler paper and pencil tests – put the answer sheets through a machine and get the results in just weeks. Our ridiculous online tests, for whatever reason, takes months and months to score, and we don’t get the results until August.

He doesn’t like standardized tests (who does?) but he does his best. And because of testing in the other grades, he only has three shortened days of school next week. There’s an upside for him in that. :+1:t4: 😄

You’re on 😠 I can’t wait to see Gertabelle’s face in the window while I mow the lawn.

Did you not get your invitation to our previous festivals?
Fine. You bring the house. I’ll bring the lawnmower.

And the protesters.
Thankyou, but you are already in charge of cooking the sauerkraut and serving the beer.

Oh, and childminding too.

We don’t want to overload you.

I love America’s lyrics. Another favorite is
Oz never did give nothin’ to the tin man,
That he didn’t, didn’t already have.

I’ve always wondered if they just made up lyrics to fit the song rhythm or maybe under the influence of something. Many of them make no sense.

I heard an interview once. They were intended to be humorous nonsense lyrics.
