Now I admit to being in a really weird place with this; both of my parents were adopted. (In that both sets of grandparents I have are not my biological grandparents) So I’ve grown up knowing that it’s the people who raise you who are your parents. With this in mind I view homosexual marriage as perfectly fine for making a family.
I haven’t commented on gay couples adopting, and I’m relatively open to it. But it is far from ideal. Biologically, the best proven context for raising children is with two parents biologically related to the child. Adoption is a beautiful thing, but it is a second-best thing.
From studies I’ve read children raised in lesbian households actually do exceptionally well. One problem in the studies of how well children go in these situations has that they often don’t factor in the children in adoptive circumstances due to traumatic events; losing one’s family will have a bad impact on a person after all.

I think you define your sexuality as either male or female. Actually, nature and genetics does that for you. Then you define yourself as a child of God, who knew you even before he created you in the womb. Everything else is just feelings, preferences, tendencies, which does not speak to one’s inner being or ontology.

I’m familiar with the studies, and with all the difficulty getting good information on the topic. I’m also personally very familiar with growing up without a dad. It hurt me badly. I do not think it is morally acceptable to do that to a boy.

Sexuality isn’t your sex/ gender 😊

I think every case is unique. I know one lad who was raised without a man in the house and actively chose not to go live with their father when given the choice; not because they didn’t like them, they just preferred living with their mother.

What is the problem with someone defining themselves as bisexual? That is harder to define.
It is contrary to the way in which God wants us to define ourselves.
Certainly you don’t believe LGBTQ should be denied opportunities in the workplace because they are LGBTQ.
Of course not! Sorry I misunderstood.
I see no reason to deny marriage to this loving couple. They’ve been together longer than my husband and I.
A “marriage” is between a man and a woman. It is not possible for persons of the same sex to be joined in “marriage”.

I would have preferred living with my mom too, probably. But the very notion that a child has to choose whether to live with a mom or a dad is absurd, and it is a sad statement about how ugly people’s choices are.

(Note: I am not saying all separations are wrong. Sometimes one spouse needs to separate from another for psychological health or physical safety.)

I think of anyone had a choice they’d go with “loving family”; gender wouldn’t have mattered to me.

It is a sad state of affairs. I’m glad they were in their teens when they made the decision (and could change it at any time).

Sexuality isn’t your sex/ gender 😊
Well, a good part of it has to be. But I guess that now, it’s just how we feel about our sexual preferences. But we already give way too much thought to that anyway. Everyone ponders their sexual preferences; nobody gives much thought to their epistemology tendencies or the parts of quantum theory that they find especially attractive.

The thing is is that mothers and fathers model to their children proper relationships with the opposite sex. A good father teaches his daughter how men should treat the women they love so that she does not end up with someone abusive.

I think people would still do this. After all; my father and mother both taught me not to put up with an abusive spouse. Their gender didn’t come into it.

The point is is that men and women are not interchangeable. Every child needs a father and mother figure. We all know what fatherlessness to young boys especially.

Actually reports do seem to show that boys raised with two mums are really well off and often better at controlling their emotions. 😊

Citation? This is a fairly recent phenomenon and you’d have to wonder about sample size.

I’ve linked the study, I’m not sure if that’s addressed but over all emotional state does seem to be 😊
