At least with jobs there is an argument to be had with real statistics from Obama’s presidency i.e. job creation. Obama is bad for the economy, but that is another subject for another day, that is not what this thread is about.

The Right tries to score political points off of what Rosen didn’t actually say and the the Left predictably has a panic attack and disavows everything. This was an economic discussion. This had nothing to do with the merits of working mothers. This is about the fact that Ann Romney has never had to balance an outside of the home career with raising her kids. She’s never had to go to a boss to beg for time off. She’s never had to figure out who’s going to take care of her kids when she works overtime. She’s never had to worry about how many extra hours she’ll have to put in to pay for the recital and the field trip and the school clothes and the soccer equipment. She’s never had to worry about scrounging up cash for co-pays. And she’s never had to worry about disappointing her kids in ways large and small because work come first. She has never had to make these decisions. Why, because she’s been wealthy enough not to be forced to do so. This is not the woman you go to in a sincere effort to discover what concerns the modern day working mother. Rosen shouldn’t have apologized. She shouldn’t have even clarified. She should however have suggested those on both sides of the aisle take some classes in listening and comprehension.

How about the Ledbetter bill which Obama signed into law, giving women equal pay for equal work, and which Republicans voted overwhelmingly against? There is indeed a Republican War on Women in Congress.

I don’t know about the background behind that particular bill to make an assessment of why Republicans rejected it, but when I see the ACLU and a bunch of other liberal groups supported it there must be a good reason why Republcians did it not support it at the time.

It is an absolute disgrace to all the women in the world whose rights are curtailed, from not being allowed to vote in Saudi Arabia, to women being forced to have an abortion against their will in China, for you to say that there is war on women in America. To say that there is a Republican ‘war on women’ is nothing but to try to create a distraction to divert from Barack Obama’s failed policies.

All the statistics on Romney’s infographic come from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, I am not cherry picking. How can PolitiFact be non partison when it is part of the liberal St. Petersburg Times newspaper.

If you have a problem with Romney’s statistic, contact the Bureau of labor Statistics, that is where the statistic came from.

It’s good that she apologized--------but one has to admit that her view of what constitutes a “woking mother” is shared by a large (not ALL, of course) of the Democratic Party and Secular Left.

She was merely articulating what most (again, not all) in her ideological, religious, and political spectrum feel.

Makes me involuntarily think of the old poem, whose first half of its title was later used as the title of a particularly bad and violent but nevertheless popular and succesful Rebecca De Mornay movie most will remember:

“The Hand That Rocks the Cradle is the Hand that Rules the World.”

Sounds still good to me.

The Act did not guarantee equal pay for equal work-pay discrimination based on gender has been illegal l long before this act. What the Ledbetter Act did was extend the statue of limitations for filing a wage discrimination lawsuit. The wisdom of this extension can be debated(Romney Supports it) but it has absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with whether one supports equal pay for equal work.

It is interesting to me that, watching the original AC interview that started the whole “episode,” that Rosen utters those famous “statements,” and Anderson Cooper does not respond, say a word, or even seems to be aware that Rosen has said anything “unusual” at all.
He just went on to his next comment/question.

Almost as if he agreed with the sentiment expressed.

The White House’s bid to distance itself from comments by long-time Democratic advisor Hilary Rosen dissing Mitt Romney’s wife Ann are entering the silly zone.

White House visitor logs show that “Hilary Rosen” has visited the White House 35 times, a ton of visits for a strategist. Simple enough, right?

Not. When White House spokesman Jay Carney was asked at today’s press briefing about the visits, he suggested that maybe all the visits “Hilary Rosen” made were not by THE Hilary Rosen.

“I know three, personally, women named Hilary Rosen. So I’m not sure that those represent the person we’re talking about necessarily,” he said, adding that the hasn’t viewed the visitor logs.

Rosen raised eyebrows when she said of Romney: “Guess what, his wife has actually never worked a day in her life.”

Many women who are stay at home mothers say it is ‘work,’ and that it has economic worth. Ann Romney said her job bringing up five children was ‘work.’
