Democrats now critical of Rice's Benghazi explanation, amid more damaging evidence

Truly the mindless devotion to Obama is almost cultlike. The Media, the Democrats (at least those not standing for election soon), the Left are the poster children for see no evil, hear no evil and thus speak no evil even if it thumps them on the head. Despite his many supporters being tossed aside like used tissues if they are no longer of help or are useful idiots for Obama Blame Game, they still slaver and slobber at his feet. It’s truly mind boggling.

Years ago in this state, an Indian guru attracted followers who gave up everything to live in tiny, uninsulated A frames in the middle of a desert…just for the possibility of seeing him driving in circles in one of his many Rolls Royces. The cult members engaged in attempted murder, voter fraud, and child abuse at the behest of the Baghwan and his inner circle. Some of the parents who rescued their children from this horror (before we jailed some of them and sent Bag packing) said it was if their children were subject to mind control. There seems to be no other reason for the devotion to this man. It’s scary

There is a connection between liberalism and being easily susceptible to charismatic cult leaders, and it’s because liberalism is an emotional ideology. Jim Jones was admired by liberal politicians and by the liberal media. It’s only after he murdered all those people that they began to distance themselves from him. 🙂

oldcelt do you have any understanding of the military or their code? If all military abdicated rushing into battle because they thought the effort might fail, we’d long since be speaking German or Japanese. Or how about the first responders? How many firefighters or police or EMT rush to the scene and attempt to provide assistance, even if their efforts might be futile. I will truly never forget the scenes after the Twin Towers were hit. A stampede of the public and the firefighters ran UP THE STAIRS. These are the heroes of our world and they live and sometimes they die by this code of honor.

Fear of failure is NOT A REASON TO STAND DOWN. Never has been, never will be. They were told to stand down or believe me, someone would have responded. As it was, the two former SEALs did their best to save others and as they were marking targets when killed, must have thought that help was on the way.

The cowards who sat safely behind their desks in Washington deserve our disdain. They left people to die a horrible, painful and terrifying death. Someone gave the order, or avoided giving it. Hillary and Obama seemed to be far more concerned about their political future at the time of the attack, than about bringing the terrorists to justice or even investigating what went wrong. Much as I disdain former President Carter, I appreciate that after the failed attempt to rescue the hostages, he stood up and took responsibility. He knew as did many, this would make winning the presidency much more difficult. But at least he had the integrity to say that the buck stops with him as CoC.

Lisa,

I don’t think I am the one who does not understand the reality of military action. Further, your calling public servants cowards when all the facts are far from known is a major over-reach on your part.

Really? So you think that the military should not move forward with a rescue if there is the possibility of failure or futility? OK…

I see a lot of cowardice from the Beltway. Obama’s inability to accept responsibility for any negative result from his action or inaction is Exhibit 1. I’ve heard quite a lot of info today and look forward to the hearings. I hope the questioners will actually ask some questions rather than pandering and slobbering as they did when Hillary was being questioned in October as I recall. She did a masterful job providing non-answers and displayed amazing table banging prowess.

A very quick look into our recent history shows the dangers of instituting military action based on faulty or incomplete information. It just may be that the former Secretary of State learned a very important lesson during her time as US Senator.

Or in the words of those who know what they are talking about;
“Fools rush in, where angels fear to tread”.
Not in the order of their importance ( emphasis mine)

The way I look at it is this: 1) there is the need to get to the bottom of what happened. Who told Rice to stick with the video response narrative? Who gave out the talking points? Was there an effort to hide the truth or change the narrative in order to avoid any embarassment for Obama weeks before the election? We need to get to the bottom of it. If there was an effort to hide the truth for political reasons, and Obama was complicit, then he should be impeached. 2) I think any one, even a Democrat, if they are honest, has to admit that if this was a Republican administration the media would have been all over the story. The mantra would be “what did he know and when did he know it?”

No one died from Watergate.

Notice how no liberal posters are on this thread. I wonder if they are okay with this because of Obama’s age and skin colour or some government check, or if they are hiding hoping this will just go away. 🤷

At least republicans will call out their own when they mess up.
But that’s the weakness of the Republican party which the Democrats love to exploit. Republicans call out their own a lot more than they need to when they already have the mainstream media always siding against them 24/7. The Democrat Party/mainstream media love to turn Republicans against each other while Democrats will almost never criticize another Democrat. When Gabrielle Giffords was shot, the mainstream media blamed Republicans quicker than lightening. But when the facts came out that it was actually a crazy guy whose political ideology was to the left, the mainstream media stopped talking about it. 🙂

Isn’t everything you have listed precisely what this investigation is about? My read is that a certain group wanted instant results because they felt it would help their candidate win. Tying together all the threads that make up the Benghazi scenario will take time and, quite honestly, will likely never be complete enough for some.
And your point about a Republican Administration being pursued more vigorously just does not jive with history. Where were the huge investigations and calls for impeachment (which will never happen despite the few who are suggesting it) following the deaths at our embassies during any Republican administration? How about when over 200 US Marines were killed in Lebanon after the Reagan Administration ignored intelligence and calls for increased security in Beirut? They didn’t call Reagan “The Teflon President” for nothing.
Eventually, we will probably get something close to a complete picture…not enough to satisfy a few. But, the majority of the American people will be satisfied…and very little will have been changed by all this…The GOP members pushing this will have appealed to their base…much of the Democratic base will regard it as a witch hunt…and the process will go merrily along.
The Watergate comparison may be a good talking point in some small circles, but the vast majority of the people do not see any comparison…

One huge difference with Watergate - no one died when the Watergate Hotel was bugged.

Some other questions that need answers:

Exactly what was Ambassador Stevens doing in Benghazi in the first place?
What was the late evening meeting with the Turkish diplomat about?
Why was this meeting held in the ‘less than secure’ location in Benghazi rather than at the Embassy in Tripoli?

If I were one to go for conspiracy theories this situation is ripe for one:

*Stevens is sent by Obama to arrange the transfer of Ghadaffi’s weapons to the Muslim Brotherhood and other Islamist organisations, particularly to the rebels in Syria, with assistance from Turkey.

Once Stevens has set this up, Obama sends in his hit squad, this time instead of a drone, his usual method of assassination, he uses the al-qaeda chapter his state department hired to ‘guard and protect’ Ambassador Stevens.

So intent is Obama on making sure that no one survives who can talk about what happened at that meeting that he issues the ‘stand down’ orders preventing assistance from arriving in time. Indeed, the men who died defending Ambassador Stevens had been given orders to stand down as well, but they disobeyed.

Help was deliberately withheld until all the Americans were dead. The fact that security was deliberately reduced prior to the meeting with the Turkish diplomat, on orders from Obama’s State Department, speaks volumes that Stevens was set up and the attack to remove him planned in advance.

Obama’s State Department issues the official lie about the ‘spontaneous protest mob angered by an obscure anti-Muslim video on youtube’ in an attempt to cover up their involvement both in setting up the attack, and in preventing help from arriving in time.*

Contrast Obama’s behaviour with his actions when he issued orders to ‘kill bin Laden’. In one case, he was glued to situation room, watching in real time, and in the other, he headed off to Vegas to party. Why? Why did he issue the ‘stand down’ orders? Why did he reduce security prior to the meeting? All of this is at Obama’s door, not one of his underlings. Who else has the authority to issue a ‘stand down’ order when American diplomatic personnel are under attack? some underling or the President?

breitbart.com/Big-Peace/2012/10/18/Benghazi-Why-It-Matters
It is now known that in the weeks prior to the attack, the United States State Department not only saw fit to reduce security for the consulate but refused repeated requests by Ambassador Stevens and Regional Security Officer Eric Nordstrom for fences, transportation assets, and special operations forces to augment security.
Benghazi Terror Attack: CIA Operatives Told Twice to Stand Down During Fight, Plot Thickens
CIA personnel led by ex-Navy SEAL Tyrone Woods, who later lost his life in the attack during the September 11 Ansar al Sharia attack on U.S. installations in Benghazi, disobeyed orders to “stand down.” Defying orders, Woods and other CIA personnel braved enemy fire to return to the consulate to rescue Ambassador Chris Stevens and information officer Sean Smith.
US Hired Al-Qaeda-Linked Group to Defend Benghazi Mission
The Libyan militia group that the State Department hired to defend its embattled diplomatic mission in Benghazi had clear al-Qaida sympathies, and had prominently displayed the al-Qaida flag on a Facebook page for months before the deadly attack.
Instead of listening to Obama’s words, just look at his actions. Forget what he said. Look at what he is doing.

***Everything ***he has done in the Middle East has helped the Muslim Brotherhood. This ‘Arab Spring’ nonsense has brought down stable governments across the region, with American assistance to the ‘rebels’, and replaced them with the unstable Muslim Brotherhood or a myriad of islamist groups vying to fill the power vacuums. None of these places are freer now than before their revolutions. Things are much worse for them, the ordinary citizens, now than when they were under their so-called dictators, especially for Christians and other non-Muslims.

Information sources say that the ‘rebels’ in Syria are predominately foreign fighters attached to various Islamist jihad organisations.

WAR ON SYRIA; 95 Percent Of ‘Syrian Rebels’ (FSA) Are Foreigners; German Intelligence Report

The UN reports that it was not Assad who used sarin but the rebels (who probably got it from Ghadaffi’s stores through the weapons conduit set up by Stevens at Obama’s orders in Benghazi).

You have the nerve to compare the suicide bombing of Beirut to the attack on Benghazi? Did the marines in Beirut ask for more security? No, but the embassy in Benghazi did. Did Reagan concoct a fairy tale story about the Beirut suicide bombers in order to deflect damage to his presidency? No, but Obama did. Are you that partisan Oldcelt, that you would equate Beirut and Benghazi? Are you so partisan as to make excuses for a president who would rather lie than take responsibility for failure? If Obama had said, “yes, we made mistakes in not defending Benghazi or responding to the attack”, that would have handed an issue to Romney weeks before the election. Instead Obama concocted a story designed to minimize political damage to Obama at the expense of the truth. And now, it looks like (one hopes) the chickens have come home to roost. We may yet see the truth. (no thanks to the Obama admin).

Oh what a web we weave, Oldcelt.

Who died from Watergate? Yet, a president was brought down. Is it your hope that the vast majority of the people stay in the dark on this issue? Is Obama care and free abortions worth telling lies to the American people?

Obama lied to manipulate the 2012 election in his favor. He deserves to be kicked out of office.

If this turned out to be really bad for Obama, could he be impeached?

To add to the list of questions that have been asked here, I want to know why the producer of the video is still in jail? On what charges?

It was no accident that Reagan invaded Grenada the same week as the Marines were bombed in Beirut.

Depends, lying to the American public is not a crime. Did he tell this fairy tale to anyone while under oath or as testimony to congress? I doubt Obama has any “legal” issues here.

Hillary Clinton on the other hand faces a Scooter Libby type of charge as she did perpetrate a fraud upon congress (who gets away with that twice?).

If this turned out to be really bad for Obama, could he be impeached?
No-nor should even those of us who strongly disagree with him on just about everything pull for that. We had a chance to get rid of him last november. the people spoke, he was reelected.
