Just as long as we’re praying something! I hope this will be very comforting for everybody.

Did not intend to crash on your thread, Jules. 🙂

Oh You definately did NOT crash the thread Cecila! Sorry, I just overlooked yours.
The Holy family novena it is… starts tomorrow, Thurs 13th

Here it is…

Novena Prayer:

Jesus, Mary, and Joseph, bless me and grant me the grace of loving Holy Church as I should, above every earthly thing, and of ever showing my love by deeds.

Jesus, Mary, and Joseph, bless me and grant me the grace of openly professing as I should, with courage and without human respect, the faith that I received as your gift in holy Baptism.

Jesus, Mary, and Joseph, bless me and grant me the grace of sharing as I should in the defense and propagation of the Faith when duty calls, whether by word or by the sacrifice of my possessions and my life.

Jesus, Mary, and Joseph, bless me and grant me the grace of loving my family and others in mutual charity as I should, and establish us in perfect harmony of thought, will, and action, under the rule and guidance of the shepherds of the Church.

Jesus, Mary, and Joseph, bless me and grant me the grace of conforming my life fully as I should to the commandments of God’s law and those of His Holy Church, so as to live always in that charity which they set forth.

Jesus, Mary, and Joseph, I ask in particular this special favor:
(Mention your favor).

That God may heal and bless all the marriages of these CAF members and that our wills may be perfectly in line with God’s will in our lives and in the life of our spouse

(anyone can add more if they wish)

Dedication of One’s Family:
Most loving Jesus, by Your sublime and beautiful virtues of humility, obedience, poverty, modesty, charity, patience, and gentleness, You blessed with peace and happiness the family which You chose on earth. In Your mercy look upon my family. We belong to You, for we have received Your many blessings over many years and we entrust ourselves to Your loving care.

Look upon my family in Your loving kindness, preserve us from danger, give us help in time of need, and grant us the grace to persevere to the end in imitation of Your holy Family, so that having revered You and loved You faithfully on earth, we may praise You eternally in heaven.

Mary, dearest Mother, to your intercession we have recourse, knowing that your Divine Son will hear your prayers. Glorious patriarch, Saint Joseph, help us by your powerful prayers and offer our prayers to Jesus through Mary’s hands. Amen.

Prayer:
Lord Jesus Christ, being subject to Mary and Joseph, You sanctified family life by Your beautiful virtues. Grant that we, with the help of Mary and Joseph, may be taught by the example of Your holy Family, and may after death enjoy its everlasting companionship.

Lord Jesus, help us ever to follow the example of Your holy Family, that in the hour of our death Your glorious Virgin Mother together with Saint Joseph may come to meet us, and we may be worthy to be received by You into the everlasting joys of heaven. You live and reign forever. Amen

Day number one!!!

Good morning everyone! A novena has been said by me already this morning for all of us! How are we all doing!? 🙂

Vester

I everyone, my marriage needs help too. I am glad I saw this today, on Day One of the Novena. I am in too. Great idea Jules.

Day 2 and have had such a huge improvement in my situation! Praying for you all!

Hey y’all,
Code:
Look, I may or may not have a problem. I met this guy online and he is a sweetheart. He is in a fruitless marriage as I am. So here's the question - how do I know that this is God giving me somebody else to love in response to this novena, or the devil trying to trick me? My counselor also says that it would be best to "make a decision" about what I want to do now rather than later. This did not make me very happy. I'm going to meet my "new" guy for lunch today. What do y'all think?
Tracy

Oh yeah, one more thing: This prayer is a little wordy (to me, anyway), so I seem to spend more time trying to read the words right rather than “praying.” Sometimes I have to go back and see what I read and what it means. Does this take away from the prayer or does God understand what’s going on with my limited brain?

God would never send you a message to commit adultry. You can safely assume this “message” is from Satan.

I think you are making a terrible mistake.

I also think that your posting on this thread is downright disgusting. You flaunt in our faces that you are intending to cheat on your husband. Did you read this thread. We are here because our marriages are in trouble and we are praying for healing and you waltz in telling us about your adulterous ways.

Did you for one moment even consider some of us are facing forgiving an unfaithful spouse?

You post is without question the most crass thing I’ve ever read on CAF.

Absolutely…God never tells us or urges us to break His own commands.

It’s enough to faithfully pray the novena, even though it’s a little wordy. It’s not a magic formula, God knows our hearts and sees our intentions. You might find that, after a few days, your mouth seems to know the words better and you can concentrate on your thoughts more.

Awesome!

I did my second day just now. Funny…even though I’m civilly divorced I think that this novena is going to help me start forgiving my ex. Not that I’m hoping for any reconciliation, for sure…but just yesterday something happened that made me realise I need to start working on forgiving him and getting bad thoughts about him out of my life. Guess it’s never too late to heal!

Tracy…a friend of mine once said that a good barometer by which to determine if you are doing something that is Gods will versus Your Will or (the devil’s will) is to look to the Bible First…does it contradict anything there? Does it contradict Jesus’ teachings? Does it contradict the church? That is your answer.

You may be in a “fruitless” marriage, but it is a marriage nonetheless. You have taken a VOW to God and your husband that you should uphold unless there is an exception to which the Church has given you.

In this case, I would say that this is not God’s will. It is against everything the old and new testament say, Jesus has said, and Holy mother church has said.

Please keep up with your novena and your prayers, and you will be in my most fervent prayers as well…

In a previous post on this forum, you already admitted that you’ve cheated on your husband at least once. Do you really want to get in a situation where you would be tempted to do this again?

Seriously, you don’t want to mess with this.

Also, a counselor would NEVER tell you that you should MAKE A DECISION quickly. I dont buy that at all.

And it looks as if after I read your post again, that you are already calling him your “guy” and that you have already made your decision since you are visiting him for lunch.

I will pray very very very hard for you.

Because of this post, I am leaving this prayer novena, and I may not even come back to CAF. I hope you’re happy. Oh wait, lemme guess, you’re deleriously happy because the adulteress is finally gone for good.

Tracy,

You are making all these choices yourself.

To “see” a new guy. To commit adultry. To leave a novena. To leave CAF. Please stop blaming everyone else for the choices that you are making. Frankly, I didnt know you had committed adultry until you just admitted it.

Even more FRANKLY, I think that you hijacking a thread concerning people working on a prayerful way to support and uplift each others marriage is quite rude.

I also think that each one of our responses was very respectful, when it could easily have not been given your imposition.

And I’m not happy you are leaving, but I’m not sad either.

This thread wasn’t really about you specifically and your issues. It was about all of us getting together to pray for our marriages. If you had wanted to post about your marital issues you could have started a new topic to do so.

Anyway - for the rest of us that are still here, lets just keep praying our novena. 🙂 And lets be Christian about it and obviously continue to pray heartfelt prayers for Tracy as well. It appears that she is going down a path that is away from God, and we’ll pray for God’s grace to find her and bring her back to her marriage and to her vows.
