I just want to remind everyone here that the rancor and mean-spiritedness we see in this thread is the expected consequence of the cheapskate decision on the part of the administrators of Catholic Answers Forum a year ago to get rid of live moderators, who where doing a great job! Bring back the moderators!
 
What a grotesque thing to say. Should I say that your series of posts demonstrates that you have the mentality of a spouse abuser and a child molester, combined? Why, it’s just right there in every post you make.

This is just the most amazing bit of rash judgment I think has appeared yet on CAF.

Again, if you have problems with the article, provide a better one or take it up with the writer. There are lots of them, by the say, that say the very same thing.

The left, 7, is inherently totalitarian. That’s why we’re seeing things like conservatives being thrown out of restaurants, Repub congressmen shot, fires started and windows broken. Some are violent physically, and some are only violent emotionally and verbally.

It’s fascinating in this thread, particularly. You can quote the very words of their heroes and because you don’t agree with their “interpretation” of what he said, they call you a liar.

As to your claims: you have given no foundation at all, just like when you so frequently talk of hate in people’s posts.

I was specific:
“… this calculated and somewhat fantastic misrepresentation of reality … recalls the mentality of birtherism”.

I think that your choice to select fragments of a quote, together with a distorted quote fragment, and, out of context, to juxtapose them as though the contexts were comparable, required calculation, a fantastic view of the President, and did in fact misrepresent reality. And that fantastic misrepresentation of realityfavoring tribal epistemology instead is reasonably comparable to bitherism.

I find it interesting that react with such vehemence - bringing child molestation and spousal abuse into the conversation - about comparison to birtherism. Did Trumps actual birtherism, or his fellow travelers here similarly give you pause?

No. Your not-so-clever accusing me of having the mentality of a birther was enough. Trump has nothing to do with it. To you “birther” is a major insult. You meant to be personally nasty toward me, and were. Not much to figure out with that.

On the contrary it seems to you that birther is a major insult which precipitated you to bring up child molestation and spousal abuse.

For me it is just a potent symbol of tribal epistemology, that puts the cause of the tribe over truth.
I do not mean this as an insult but as a call to truth.

I have already commented on how I used the term. I am not much for epithets, labels, name-calling, as popular as it is around here.

I take exception to your judgement.
What you see here is an objection to the distortion of truth to advance the cause of a “side”.
While I cannot speak for others, I assure you that my posts are without rancor. I am sorry if you take them as mean-spirited, which is not my intention at all.

Truth matters. That is all.

More than one objective.
  1. So others here will find it easier to take in stride. If someone calls attention to it, it doesn’t seem as focused on one person.
  2. Imaginably to get it to stop by calling attention to it.
 
@dvdjs, @Ridgerunner, would you two please take your personal dispute somewhere else, like private messaging? There is no reason we all have to wade through this… ugh!
