Not a thing! There is much of the One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic faith that has seeped through the filters. In this we rejoice, because even through the distortions, God’s Truth prevails.. What is the problem with millions having the same "revelation " from God that Jesus is the Messiah ,their Savior etc.
It comes from the once for all deposit of faith that was committed to the Church. The Scriptures are part of that revelation. Yes, faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word.. This is not public revelation. It is revelation form God to the individual believer. This revelation must be triggered or tied to nature, or scripture, or what a church or a preacher (some part of the Body) may be uttereing etc…
Well, sure! That way, every generation can come along and add their own non-scriptural “revelations”, like Sola Scriptura.. .I would prefer to say there has been no inspired scriptural revelation after the apostles.
The fullness of God’s revelation of Himself to us was in Christ. He revealed all to His Apostles, and they made this once for all deposit of faith to the Church. It exists in two equal strands of Sacred Tradition and Sacred Scripture.. What does your church state ,do not understand "public’ revelation ? See ,I have trouble with this because many of yours and our traditions started or evolved after the apostles, upon further revelation, and insight and need.
Doctrine can develop, or from my point of view, our understanding of it, but no doctrine can be added after the Apostles. For example, when the word “Trinity” was adopted, it did “evolve”, but the doctrine upon which it was based came from the apostles. Same with all the doctrines of the Catholic faith.
The canon of the NT is also such a development.
Yes, many saints have had such private revelations throughout the history of the Church, but these are not binding on the faithful.. For instance, I thought the pope had “revelation” that indeed there was an Immaculate Conception, beyond a shadow of a doubt , that is, infallibly so in, 1850…
Yes, it would be, if it were not for the fact that this is part of the deposit of faith we received from teh Apostles.dogma on priests being confessors should be judged upon our foundation as to it’s validity . If such dogma is not built on that foundation , it is fair and scriptural to say it is of private interpretation.
