My thoughts were the same as yours until I saw the documentary and D’souza does bring up his mother’s enfluence. She always spoke very well of his father,

That’s funny. In his own biography, Obama describes how he idolized his father and went back to Kenya after his father died (in a drunken car crash) in order to take on the “Dreams From My Father.” In fact one of his step sisters made a special point of explaining to Obama that the man he was idolizing was a wife-beating alcoholic who had already killed one man from drunk driving. She thought she was doing him a favor but it led to a tremendous identity crisis. Obama’s mother had always made his father out to be almost a god. Now here was a daughter of his father saying he was a terrible person. He had to resurrect his father’s image, and by the end of his Kenyan visit, he had.

This is in his book. He makes no secret of it.

Remember when Obama, as one of the very first actions taken when he was allowed to occupy the White House, sent back to England a bust of Churchill that had been on loan since September 11, 2001? If you don’t remember it, here’s an article that describes what happened.

Now what possible reason could Mr. Obama have had for doing such a thing? The piece was lent indefinitely, and no one had asked for its return. He could have had it stored somewhere in the White House, or even moved out of the White House, but he made a specific statement to send it back to England.

One very good explanation is that Prime Minister Churchill was in office when the Mau Mau rebellion took place in Kenya, the birthplace of Barack Hussein Obama Sr. See this paragraph in the Telegraph article (which is a very well-respected English newspaper, BTW).

*Churchill has less happy connotations for Mr Obama than those American politicians who celebrate his wartime leadership. It was during Churchill’s second premiership that Britain suppressed Kenya’s Mau Mau rebellion. Among Kenyans allegedly tortured by the colonial regime included one Hussein Onyango Obama, the President’s grandfather. *

Do you think Obama Jr. just didn’t like the bust? Or hated President Bush’s decorating scheme? No, he knew the message he was sending - and the British received the message, loud and clear.

You have seen his movie or read his book? Or, are you just parroting what other people have said? As I said, the “fact checking” done on the movie is mainly opinion about his opinions and conclusions. I haven’t seen anyone address anything factual, other than the Winston Churchill bust.

CYA. Read the Telegraph article. The bust was not scheduled to be returned. It was an insult and Obama knew it. If you want evidence of who Obama is, it will be provided very soon. I don’t imagine there will be many more of these sorts of threads after that.

I look at both sides, so I can make an informed decision on things. I never said there is only liberal bias.

You are in a bubble, when you discount documentaries as manure from either side without actually looking at what the documentaries have to say. I guess it’s easier to do that though…less effort.

Certainly liberal bias is not the only bias that exists. But it is the predominant bias of most of the media, of academia, of the press, of Hollywood, of entertainment elites, of intellectual elites. So it’s kind of hard to avoid, like fog in San Francisco.

Actually, my understanding of Pnewton;s coments dealt with discounting those posts on Obama made by people that have not seen the movie or have read his book.

My understanding of your comment on staying in a ‘bubble’ seemed to me to have people stop looking, not engaging in dialogues and be insular. I did not agree with that.

Have you observed any media group who has not engaged in consistent and predictable bias? This would be opposed to something like a random distribution where some items are treated more liberally while others are treated more conservatively.
