Do you listen to "talk radio" Mark Levin- or Rush Limbaugh" Or?

It’s not so much that he “spews hatred.” I just don’t get the appeal. If you want a conservative take on stuff, there are many, many people with smarter, more nuanced, and better reasoned takes. Limbaugh just strikes me as someones bloviating loudmouth uncle who has four beers and decides he’s an expert on everything (despite, after looking at his background, not having much experience in anything except abusing pain meds and pontificating into a mic)
Considering his successful radio career I think he has proven he is an expert on many things - especially politics.

No, it proves you’re a successful radio host. For some reason, a bunch of people find him entertaining. That doesn’t demonstrate that he actually has anything substantive to communicate. Joel Osteen is pretty good at self-promotion too. He still doesn’t know the first thing about Christian theology. Kim Kardashian is pretty phenomenal at self-promotion and has made a ton of money despite having no apparent talent. Do you think that means she has an informed perspective on international trade policy?

Rush has done 4 things with his life:
  1. Host radio shows
  2. Abuse drugs
  3. Have a bunch of failed marriages
  4. Come up with dumb puns for people he doesn’t like…i.e, “Obummer”, “Dumb-o-crats”, etc
How that makes him an expert on foreign policy, the economy, the law, or anything else is beyond me.

You just don’t like Rush because he exposes the warts of high profile democrats and their agendas.

Keep up the good work Rush!

Why would I care about that? I have no interest in protecting high profile democrats.

Typical hate against Rush, Hannity Levin, just like Trump. I think jealousy plays a big factor too.
Rush and Hannity have certainly kept the democrats from winning two big elections.

Wow if rush was wrong and didn’t speak the truth of left wing politics .then he would not have an audience.

Left wing politics has been unsucceful in the radio world.

Which in itself speaks volumes.
It is Marxism light. And big gov.
Diversity in life style seems a positive thing. But moral diversity is deceptive

well levin is a decorated constitutional lawyer who has won cases before the USSC

so i don’t know “boom boom”

maybe you should shut off the radio if you don’t like it, shipmate…

I listen to Relevant Radio. Too bad, they got rid of the Terry and Jesse show, Heart to Heart with Mother Miriam and CAL.

I would like to find “Smarter people”
But I’m not smart enough to figure it out!!

It’s tough to be me!!!

you are pretty good at pointing out rush’s mistakes, errors in judgment & transgressions…

he is a flawed human being; like all of us

rush has done a lot of good in the war against socialist secularism; he is committed to the pro-life cause

what’ve you ever done?

Did you notice I haven’t really criticized Mark Levin? I don’t like his pro-Trumpism, but he’s at least earned the right to be taken seriously. Unlike blowhards like Hannity or Limbaugh.

Happy to provide you some suggestions if you want conservative commentary from someone who isn’t a walking, talking caricature.

How dare you, I’m a veteran of the Great Meme Wars of 1998. Thank me for my service. 😡

I’m not sure why you’re getting so bent out of shape. I’m just answering the question posed by the thread. And since I consider myself more or less a conservative, I don’t like being associated with people like Limbaugh. It’s hard to criticize liberals for undermining the traditional family when your mouthpiece is a windbag on his fourth marriage with a taste for oxy.

I’d give him a bit more credit than that, if only because he can hold forth on matters of public policy for one or two hours (don’t know how long his show is), albeit from a red-meat conservative point of view (but what’s wrong with that?); it’s not something I could do at least not on a daily basis. It’s a bit like the respect I felt for Garrison Keillor after seeing him do his "Lake Wobegon’ monologue for his radio show, seemingly spinning it out of thin air with just a few scraps of notes in front of him - how does he do it?

In other words, I don’t find Rush Limbaugh vacuous the way that Joel Osteen or Kim Kardashian are.

That doesn’t mean his opinion is worth more than anyone else’s or that you should only go to him for news, and also the problem I have with these kinds of shows is that they just set me on edge, regardless of whether I feel the host has a point or not. Like Jeanne above listening to Mark Levin, it’s not something to soak in the bath to.

I used to listen to LImbaugh years ago. I tend to think conservatively on some issues. I accept the Church’s position on all things above politics, so much of that is going to rub against conservatism.

He’s a example of someone who speaks the truth (or at least claims to), and does so dishonestly.
There are lots of people who know the facts well, and use them to lie, on both sides of the political spectrum.

There are times when Rush is the most entertaining thing on the radio, it’s not like there is easy access to a variety of great conservative thinkers on radio during my.lunch hour. It’s often a toss-up between Rush, a panel show on NPR, or Catholic radio (which often seems to be a re-run).

Podcasts, my friend. You’re no longer constrained by whatever is on terrestrial radio.

This is fair, although I think it speaks more to his ability as a radio host, which is apparently impressive*. It’s not like he’s doing two hours of meaty, substantive policy analysis off the cuff. It’s two hours of ranting, essentially.
  • I say apparently because a lot of people seem to like his radio persona, although I can’t for the life of me figure out why. Like I said, he reminds me of nothing so much as someone’s self absorbed, loudmouth uncle who is a bit of a bully.

Rush does not have a job he can leave behind when he goes home. I am sure his staff gives him reading materials to peruse and videos to watch in order to keep up with the daily breaking political news. He has to research and be up to date on everything in order to have his 3
hour show.
I don’t see anything dishonest about his show.
He also gives a lot to charity.

Yes, I’m sure he does a lot of preparation and on top of that he has to be entertaining and stimulating for three hours each and every day (I looked it up); no mean feat at all.

I agree. He has to spend so many hours of preparation for his 15 hours a week on the air.
