Gosh, believe it or not, I know that.l…
And not all priests (…hate to disillusion you) are filled with thoughts of nothing but God and His purposes… They are as human as anyone else…

Distracted…whether anyone else on here is celibate or not is irrelevant, unless of course, they are a priest.Win? What is there to win? Is this a game??
accuses?? hmm… pretty strong words… but anyway, Yes, i have been speaking for priests who are celibate and don’t want to be… because, as stated, i know that is like…
Yes, you are right. Priests are holy and i am not… a holy person has no sexual desires… and if he/she does - God forbid(esp she
) the person keeps them to him/herself…
Oh please…
But hey… don’t change the subject:
How long have you been celibate??
No one seems to want to say… Hm…![]()
spoken like someone who has never made a promise to Jesus and failed to keep it…Does it matter to you whether he made the promise to his wife, or to Jesus?
to me?? No one has made any promise to me… but anyway… I coiuld totally understand him “not keeping his promise” to Jesus… because, for one thing, leaving the priesthood is not considered blashpheming Jesus… or rejecting Him…In either case, if he can’t keep his original promise to Jesus or to his wife, what makes you think he’ll be able to keep any promises that he makes to you?
Why don’t you stay celibate for years and years, then come and we can talk…Since he has already proven that he can be talked out of his solemn vows.
Tradition is important but tradition does not mean that things don’t change. The Tradition of Celibacy is something that supports holiness, the men were Apostles and the anointing of Priests is passed on to males, females are venerated by Mary and saints it’s not sexist or has anything against women, it is a tradition.Men can’t be nuns. Its no biggie.
What does your celibacy have to do with priests being celibate?yeah, Hard to believe, huh??
That a devout Catholiic FEMALEwould not like celibacy all the time in every way every day for ever and always till the end of life…
I mean, you would expect that of men…
hmm…I’m glad God is not a misognyist… He gave women just as much desire as men, if not more so…
apparently it does with some people… those who have not been celibate for long periods of time… and don’t know what the heck it all entails…Tradition is important but tradition does not mean that things don’t change. .
Don’t mean to be mean spirited but if he left her for a younger woman instead of repenting and going back then he obviously was not meant to be in the priestly ministry and it can’t all be blamed on the original woman.I could tell you a very sad story about that. I knew someone who enticed a man out of his priesthood, because she had fallen in love with him. (She also had very low self-esteem and wasn’t really trying to date eligible men of her own age.) He believed her flattery, and they made plans to get married.
Of course, once he was released from his priestly vows, it dawned on him that he could have any woman he wanted; he didn’t have to stay with the one who had enticed him out of the priesthood - so he dumped her for a younger woman.
Meanwhile, the original woman is still alone, and still very lonely, and on top of that, she now has the reputation of being a wrecker of vocations.![]()
OK… so i am going to hold you to every thing you said whne you were 18…didn’t want to remain celibate. (Then why did they take that vow?) It wasn’t something that was thrown in at the last minute when they were ordained that they were unaware of or anything.
Huh? What? jilted??You suddenly seem to be changing your tune, from the understanding woman to the jilted one.![]()
oh, but don’t you know - it is always the woman’s fault…Don’t mean to be mean spirited but if he left her for a younger woman instead of repenting and going back then he obviously was not meant to be in the priestly ministry and it can’t all be blamed on the original woman.
You have no idea about my life circumstances, or whether I am celibate or not, and nor is it any of your business. Why don’t you stay celibate for years and years, then come and we can talk.
Yeah, just as i suspected… haven’t been celibate very long…You have no idea about my life circumstances, or whether I am celibate or not, and nor is it any of your business.
Oh my gosh… Well, maybe, if i can’t have all the sex i want… i don’t want to be married after all…I have some bad news for you; married people also have to be celibate, from time to time - sometimes for very long periods of time.
i am concerned with the wway the Church seems to hold men to vows they took when they were in their teens and 20s… I know of priests who dislike the perpetual celibacy rule…What I need to know is, if distracted is a woman, why is she so concerned with the priestly life??
Very true. But even so, when married people have periods of continence, we still have the other person in our lives. It IS a big difference. Continence is not the same as celibacy. You have no idea about my life circumstances, or whether I am celibate or not, and nor is it any of your business.
I suppose you imagine that married people have sex any time they like, though, or that nobody ever gets seriously ill during a marriage, or has to be away from home for a lengthy period of time, to care for an elderly parent, or because of a job, etc.
I have some bad news for you; married people also have to be celibate, from time to time - sometimes for very long periods of time.
good question. What I need to know is, if distracted is a woman, why is she so concerned with the priestly life??
Priests make their vows in their twenties. If they started Seminary at 12, then they make their vows at age 24, and correspondingly later depending on their Seminary start date, up to their mid-thirties, in some cases. Not 18 year olds.OK… so i am going to hold you to every thing you said whne you were 18…
i say, what Peter binds on earth is bound in heaven, loosed on earth, loose in heaven…I would like to know if you think priests should be allowed to marry and still stay in the priesthood… If so, Why or why not??
