Do you think some fundamentalists voted for Obama to hasten the end of the world?

I was shocked, but then I remembered they support Israel to hasten end times at Megiddo or something. Well, wouldn’t it seem reasonable to think some might think electing Obama would serve that purpose?
No, they support Israel because they believe Israel is God’s chosen people.

I grew up in fundamentalist circles, and never heard the hint of a suggestion that we should support evil in order to hasten the end times. (Not saying that Obama is evil, but we all know that fundamentalists think he is.) I did encounter two things that bothered me in this regard:
  1. An unwillingness at times to fight evil because of the fatalistic assumption that it’s all part of God’s timetable; and
  2. A willingness to support actions that we might normally consider evil (like certain aspects of Israel’s treatment of the Palestinians) because of beliefs about the end times. But in this case it wasn’t “let’s support the bad guys to hasten the End.” It was “the Israelis must be the good guys because they are God’s people and He has brought them back to their land in preparation for the End.”
It’s certainly conceivable that some might have done this. But I think the likelihood that more than one or two crackpots would do this is practically nil.

Bush jr. was doing a fine job of leading the world to ruin. Obama is cleaning up the mess.
You’re right about Bush, but Obama cleaning up the mess? Wow, I don’t think so. Anyone ever hear of the Illuminati? Ask God to open your eyes to the corruption that has reached the foundations of our system.

God bless you all and may your eyes be opened, and your souls humbled.

Also, turn on your spelling checker.
It was very easy to read and understand everything he said, even if his grammar was a bit off. Show some humility. Little things like that can weaken a person’s spirit.

Sure. One of the paranoid fantasies of fundamentalist Christians.

I am somewhat skeptical about the claim that Obama is cleaning up the mess. In some respects yes, in others no, in others he’s making a bit of a mess on his own account. (How’s that for nice and vague?)

But the Illuminati don’t have anything to do with it.

Thanks, but if they were supporting the Israelis, they wouldn’t be supporting evil or evildoing in supporting its existence and thus it would not be doing evil to produce a perceived good, the end of the world, as long as they aren’t trying to start a war. If they want to support Israel for who they were in Christian history, that’s fine, though, there was plenty of anti-semitism in our history, so I’m not sure if those sentiments have a long history in American (or European, though they went hard left long before we did–especially France) culture. They don’t consider Arabic Christians in their blanket support of Israel in all its endeavors and you can’t blame them, because we rarely ever hear about them.

I fail to see anything redeeming about Palin and wouldn’t vote for her on a dare. I’m a fairly conservative guy politically and I am completely at a loss to see the appeal. On CAF I know I’m basically alone in that assessment. If she’s the GOP candidate, I’m voting Independent or Libertarian or writing in Bill Shatner’s name. 😛
wow! something i finally agree with the fundys on! I like sarah palin too;) if we are in agreement on something…maybe the world is coming to an end!:bigyikes: just kidding about the world ending folks. relax… Peace 🙂

now now, lets not get testy. but seriously rpp. do you think its the end of the U.S. because a democrat is in office? weve survived worse. waco and ruby ridge come to mind. the social dialogue between liberals and conservatives suffered greatly due to poor leadership on both sides during the 1990’s. i think great strides have been made to moderate the debate. “read my lips. NO NEW TAXES!” didnt help much either. 😉 Peace 🙂

hi gurneyhalleck. i sympathize with you. i truly do. im a conservative libertarian myself, and would have loved to have voted for bob barr last election. but i couldnt throw away my vote. and no, i dont believe your alone. its like a Catholic brother once said to me. " how do we vote? the democrats want abortion, and the republicans dont really care about the poor." its hard sometimes. things are usually alot more complex than they seem. peace:)

I’m sure that Obama didn’t do very well with fundamentalists. However, he did nicely with Catholics*…“Catholics, who accounted for about a quarter of the electorate, supported Obama, at 54 percent, over McCain, at 45 percent.”*

This from cathnews.com/article.aspx?aeid=9996

Have no idea how reliable this source is but it is consistant with other stories I have heard.
That is exactly that went through my mind upon reading the thread title. “take the log out of your own eye…” comes to mind 😊

God bless

I only support her because she’s a knockout. Just kidding. I don’t support her at all, she’s an ineffective political hack who happens to appeal to the innate GOP desire to shoot large wild animals. (But she is a knockout.)

I’m writing in Kolob. “Ask not, whether your Kolob can Hie for you, ask how you can Hie to Kolob!”

Come on. Tell us how you really feel 😉

Liberals don’t like to shoot large animals? I am not a member of the GOP nor am I even a Republican but I LOVE to shoot large wild animals.

God bless you

Oh, I didn’t say there was anything wrong with it. I like to shoot them, too. I just mean that she has that whole Ted Nugent appeal. She is a political hack inasmuch as I do not believe she’s had an original political idea ever cross her mind other than what her handlers have told her to.

Well then cheers to shooting large animals. Something anyone can agree on. Republicans, Democrats, libertarians, Catholics and Protestants. 👍

God bless

LOL… Yeah, even Baptists can relax from hyper-moralism and enjoy venison without having pangs of conscience.
