Does Islam have a definition of sin?

I will respond but only because I like you. I’ve set Angelos on my “ignore” list and I don’t read or respond to his posts. He just kinda goes around in circles and I don’t have time for that. But since YOU asked, I’ll answer. 🙂
I am pleased to hear that. However, I know well that you have granted me honour by putting me on your ignore list because I am an ex-Muslim whose primary job is to warn Christian friends here against Islamic lies by telling them the bitter truth.
(1a) There is only one woman who has been honored to have her name mentioned in the Qur’an. Only one woman. And do you know who it is? It is Mary. The only woman who is named in the Qur’an. And named many times in fact. Such honor she has that Jesus is often simply called “the Son of Mary.” Never is she called the mother of Jesus, but he, the son of Mary. 🙂
My special congratulations to you for becoming a perfect Muslim, who is an expert on taqiyya. Your response makes no sense as its only function is apparently to evade the question through digression. What if the Koran names only Jesus’ mother of all the women in history? Was there such a quota for naming women for the writers of the Koran? LOL Your argument makes me hear Allah say to Mohammad: “Sorry, I have promised to name only Jesus’ mother in my revelation. Please delete the other female names (including Hawwa) from it right now!” 😃
(1b) The Qur’an is not a history book, giving detailed narratives on any particular subject. That’s not its purpose. This word “Eve” isn’t used in Islam but the name for Adam’s wife is Hawwa. How do Muslims know her name? Why do they call her Hawwa? The answer is that she is mentioned in traditions from Muhammad, outside the Qur’an. Because the Qur’an is not the only source of Islam–Muslims were sent not just the scripture but the Messenger as well, with the wisdom to interpret it.
Unfortunately, this is NOT an honest answer! The authors of the Koran mostly wrote historic narratives in details to refute Sister Amy’s weak claims. The account of Adam’s creation and Satan’s disobedince is related in the Koran several times with variations in details even though the creation of Eve is never included to any of those recurrent narratives. This is a more serious problem that cannot be reduced to the occurrence or absence of a name.

More, it is impossible to interpret something that does not take part in the Koran. This sounds as irrational as claiming to translate a non-existing language into English.

Finally, Mohammad did not need wisdom to name Adam’s mate Hawwa. He simply copied it from the Bible. I see that Amy’s definition of the word wisdom is pathetic.
(2) This is 7:189 It is He (Allah) Who has created you (mankind) from a single person (Adam), and (then) He has created from him his wife [Hawwa (Eve)], in order that he might enjoy the pleasure of living with her.

That’s what the Muhsin Khan translation says. The Saheeh Int’l translation reads, “It is He who created you from one soul and created from it its mate that he might dwell in security with her.”

Not sure what else you’re looking for, nor why it would be significant. There’s a well-known and lovely hadith in Islam about the woman (Hawwa) being created from the rib of Adam. It tells men that women are created curved/bent and if a man tries to straighten one that it will break. It’s actually advice to be gentle in dealing with women, not overbearing or dominating or controlling.
You are wasting your precious time by struggling to refute what I did NOT claim. I am not interested in what your Hadith collection or your Muslim scholars say. My point that the Koran does not include Eve’s creation into the story of Genesis (Adam’s creation) is undeniably true.

(3) 7:19-25
And “O Adam, dwell, you and your wife, in Paradise and eat from wherever you will but do not approach this tree, lest you be among the wrongdoers.”

But Satan whispered to them to make apparent to them that which was concealed from them of their private parts. He said, “Your Lord did not forbid you this tree except that you become angels or become of the immortal.”

And he swore [by Allah ] to them, “Indeed, I am to you from among the sincere advisors.”

So he made **them **fall, through deception. And when they tasted of the tree, their private parts became apparent to them, and they began to fasten together over themselves from the leaves of Paradise. And their Lord called to them, “Did I not forbid you from that tree and tell you that Satan is to you a clear enemy?”

They said, “Our Lord, we have wronged ourselves, and if You do not forgive us and have mercy upon us, **we **will surely be among the losers.”

Allah ] said, “Descend, being to one another enemies. And for you on the earth is a place of settlement and enjoyment for a time.”

He said, “Therein you will live, and therein you will die, and from it you will be brought forth.”

20:121-123 And Adam and his wife ate of it, and their private parts became apparent to them, and they began to fasten over themselves from the leaves of Paradise. And Adam disobeyed his Lord and erred.

Then his Lord chose him and turned to him in forgiveness and guided [him**].

You have quoted all these verses to prove my point. Thank you! 😃

Although the Koran states that both Adam and his wife erred, it says that Allah forgave only Adam. This is probably because the authors of the Koran forgot about Eve, whose name they avoided writing.
Sister Amy;4046847:
Allah ] said, "Descend from Paradise - all, [your descendants] being enemies to one another. And if there should come to you guidance from Me - then whoever follows My guidance will neither go astray [in the world] nor suffer [in the Hereafter].

The Muhsin Khan translation of 7:24 says the enmity is between Shaytan and Adam+Hawwa, and not between Adam and Hawwa. The Saheeh Int’l translation of 20:123 says enmity between the descendents of Adam, and not between Adam and Hawwa. So I don’t really know (or care, to be frank) where Angelos got HIS interpretation from. **
I am not interested in the personal and biased interpretation of a Muslim scholar whose aim is to pervert the Koran for the sake of defending it. Besides, that scholar needs to study the Koran in its entirety and study linguistics (logic too) LOL.

Another striking point is that Muslim scholars cannot concur on who was made an enemy to whom. One of them supposes that Allah put enmity between Satan and Adam (maybe also his unnamed mate). This poor argument can be readily refuted when we read the Surah once more:

Surah 7:11-25
  1. And We created you, then fashioned you, then told the angels: Fall ye prostrate before Adam! And they fell prostrate, all save Iblis, who was not of those who make prostration.
  2. He said: What hindered thee that thou didst not fall prostrate when I bade thee ? (Iblis) said: I am better than him. Thou createdst me of fire while him Thou didst create of mud.
  3. He said: Then go down hence! It is not for thee to show pride here, so go forth! Lo! thou art of those degraded.
  4. He said: Reprieve me till the day when they are raised (from the dead).
  5. He said: Lo! thou art of those reprieved.
  6. He said: Now, because Thou hast sent me astray, verily I shall lurk in ambush for them on Thy Right Path.
  7. Then I shall come upon them from before them and from behind them and from their right hands and from their left hands, and Thou wilt not find most of them beholden (unto Thee).
  8. He said: Go forth from hence, degraded, banished. As for such of them as follow thee, surely I will fill hell with all of you.
  9. And (unto man): O Adam! Dwell thou and thy wife in the Garden and eat from whence ye will, but come not nigh this tree lest ye become wrong-doers.
  10. Then Satan whispered to them that he might manifest unto them that which was hidden from them of their shame, and he said: Your Lord forbade you from this tree only lest ye should become angels or become of the immortals.
  11. And he swore unto them (saying): Lo! I am a sincere adviser unto you.
  12. Thus did he lead them on with guile. And when they tasted of the tree their shame was manifest to them and they began to hide (by heaping) on themselves some of the leaves of the Garden. And their Lord called them, (saying): **Did I not forbid you from that tree and tell you: Lo! Satan is an open enemy to you **?
  13. They said: Our Lord! We have wronged ourselves. If thou forgive us not and have not mercy on us, surely we are of the lost!
  14. He said: **Go down (from hence), one of you a foe unto the other. **There will be for you on earth a habitation and provision for a while.
  15. He said: There shall ye live, and there shall ye die, and thence shall ye be brought forth.
Dear Muhsin Khan somehow does not know the fact that Allah speaks to Iblees and Adam at different times to declare banishment. More to the point, it is apparent in verse 22 that Allah does not address Iblees, but only Adam and his wife. Finally, it is impoosible for this narrative to imply that Allah put enmity between Shitan and Adam since verse 25 defines the ones who are made foes one to another as mortal creatures. Khan’s fantasies turn Shaitan into a mortal being, which is ridiculous and contradictory. LOL

As for the interpertation in Saheeh Int’l, this alternative reading is not supported by the Koran, which says:

**Surah 7:27 **
O Children of Adam! Let not Satan seduce you as he caused your (first) parents to go forth from the Garden and tore off from them their robe (of innocence) that he might manifest their shame to them. Lo! he seeth you, he and his tribe, from whence ye see him not. Lo! We have made the devils protecting friends for those who believe not.

This verse remarks that only Adam and his wife were banished from the Garden, not the whole mankind. Thus, it is ridiculous and baseless to assert that Allah put enmity between Adam’s descendants, who had not been to the Garden.
But I think you can see for yourself that he’s just trying to distort what the Qur’an says. The opinion of the Muslim scholars is that both Adam and Eve were forgiven and I don’t see any evidence to the contrary. 👍
Everyone can see who is trying to distort the Koran to defend it and who is exposing the truth.

You also sound very confused. The beginning of your post is full of quotations from the Koran, which undermine your thesis whilst the conclusion of your post presents the opinions of some Islamic scholars, NOT what the Koran says. :rotfl:

Keep ignoring me, salaam 🙂
