…and if you do, but follow another path to God. What then?I believe I’ve answered it. My answer is do not reject Jesus as God, Savior and Lord.

That’s kind of an oxymoronic type question. There is NO other path to God.…and if you do, but follow another path to God. What then?
Jesus said “I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father but through me.” If Jesus is the way, then there is no other path. He didn’t say “believe in me, or if you want, follow another path, they all lead to the same place.”…and if you do, but follow another path to God. What then?
Scientology is a legitimate path to God?That’s kind of an oxymoronic type question. There is NO other path to God.
You can answer your own question now - you know the answer if you’ve been schooled in the catholic religion.
A million reasons, but let’s say the person decides that Jesus wasn’t the Son of God, but was just a regular guy who did good deeds.Jesus said “I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father but through me.” If Jesus is the way, then there is no other path. He didn’t say “believe in me, or if you want, follow another path, they all lead to the same place.”
Why would you reject Jesus anyway.![]()
That’s actually the worst argument you could make. One thing for sure is that Jesus wasn’t just a regular guy with good deeds. There are many regular guys out there with good deeds. I would hope to fall into that category.A million reasons, but let’s say the person decides that Jesus wasn’t the Son of God, but was just a regular guy who did good deeds.
It’s impossible for a Christian to one day decide that they don’t believe any of it, including not believing that Jesus is God? Is that what your saying? That’s actually the worst argument you could make. One thing for sure is that Jesus wasn’t just a regular guy with good deeds. There are many regular guys out there with good deeds. I would hope to fall into that category.
No, Jesus was either who he claimed to be or he was a liar and a fraud.
The Bible is full of good guys with good deeds but I don’t see a billion and half people following any of them.
You obviously do not have the full knowledge of the Catholic faith as you claim. If you were Catholic at all, you were never properly catechized. That is very sad.
I’m not dancing around anything. What question haven’t I answered? I was just responding to your comment (not a question) that Jesus was “just a regular guy who did good deeds.” That, he certainly was not. It’s impossible for a Christian to one day decide that they don’t believe any of it, including not believing that Jesus is God? Is that what your saying?
Either you believe Jesus is the son of God or you don’t. Correct?
Why are you dancing around my direct question?
I don’t believe any Catholic here has agreed that Islam is truth and leads directly to God.So it does matter if you’re a follower of the right religion?
You’ve confused me.
On one hand, you agree that Islam is truth and leads directly to God.
It depends upon if you choose to say Yes to the Divine Marriage Proposal. Will islam save me or damn me from Gods righteous justice?
I must say the answer is easy!Does the only thing that really “matters” to you is that you believe in God? Or does it matter to be a part of the “right” religion?
Are you positive that you are a member of the one, correct religion? (Catholic, Mormon, Muslim, Baptist)
Does it matter to you if you are not?
What main points lead you to believe that you are a follower of the “correct” or “right” religion?
Now you’ve been clear…thank you. Several Church’s, all over the country…I’m not dancing around anything. What question haven’t I answered? I was just responding to your comment (not a question) that Jesus was “just a regular guy who did good deeds.” That, he certainly was not.
As far as what you believe, you are free to believe anything you want but it is you asking if what you believe matters; if any path is just as valid as another. My response is yes, what you believe does matter and no, there are not many paths leading to the same place.
What parish did you attend before you decided it was all a bunch of hooey?
But doesn’t the Bible tell us that it is not the final arbiter of truth, but that the Church is?if a man teaches you about ideas then use your bible to test the truth…
EVEN THE BIBLE COMMANDS YOU TO DO THIS!
1Th 5:21 prove all things; hold fast that which is good;
How long were you a Catholic and when did you decide to leave? One of my pet peaves is poor catechesis and it happens in too many parishes. I believe that if anyone truly understands Catholic doctrine they will never leave. I’m not asking you to believe this. Also, I will never put the blame squarely on the shoulders of the Church. We all have a responsibility to inform ourselves. I’ll pray that you find truth. Now you’ve been clear…thank you. Several Church’s, all over the country…
Best to ask God, as I understand His revelation in the Bible, those are NOT paths to God.Scientology is a legitimate path to God?
Wicca is a legitimate path to God?
VooDoo is a legitimate path to God?
Now I’m really confused.![]()
Yes, I agree! The CC has done an abysmal job providing catechesis to her flock. How long were you a Catholic and when did you decide to leave? One of my pet peaves is poor catechesis and it happens in too many parishes.
That was great!! My husband & I are also from the “class of 06” & feel the same way! :extrahappy::extrahappy:I was a new ager my whole life. “Christian/Buddhist” with heaping helpings of Carlos Castaneda, Jane Roberts, etc. etc. It was all good. Just a lovey peacey thing. Let’s all hold hands and love God. Look at our luminous egg- selves. Astral travel. I became most settled on Jodo Shinshu, which was founded my a man named Shinran in Japan. Part of my practice was to focus on an image of Amitabah Buddha, (The Buddha of Limitless Light and Life). I started also reading the Gospels, and focusing on a teaching of Jesus, who I started to fancy during meditation might be the same being as Amitabah. This goes on and on, so to wrap it up, the Gospels, and specifically Jesus Christ began speaking to me. I started getting tingly over my meditations. I threw in prayers to the one God that I was starting to finally beginning to feel in with my Nembutsu chants. I started talking to a Methodist friend of mine on a regular basis while he was going through a Bible study course at his church. During this time, I moved across the country, and had the occasion to drive by myself for several days. I stopped at a truck stop and bought an audiobook that said it was about Revelations, and how it linked to the Catholic Mass etc. It was “The Lambs Supper” by Scott Hahn. So here I am, a 47 year old former hippie, pure land Buddhist with highly ecumenical leanings driving across the country listening to Scott Hahn, who I’m sure is quite well known to the folks here. With prayer, quadruple listenings to this book, and a fertile planting ground prepared by the Holy Spirit who was already working on me, by the time I arrived at my new home, I knew I had to seek out a Catholic mass right away. I was jazzed about faith. For the first time in my life, I was really onto something. I spent weeks talking to my wife when I started going to mass. She thought I’d finally flipped. Neither of us has a Catholic in out entire family trees that we can trace. Our families still think we’ve flipped! We had very similar experiences once I got her to mass. We spoke with Father, and signed up for RCIA. On April 15, 2006, I was confirmed, and celebrated my first Eucharist, with tears of joy. (I’d been baptized Foursquare during my stint in parochial school during jr. High.
And my formerly atheist wife was baptized, confirmed at had first communion. That Easter Vigil was the summit of each of our existences!
All this is my way of saying that there is a right church. It is THE Church. It is the Church founded by Jesus Christ when He said to Simon, “you are Peter (Cephas - The Rock), and on this rock I will build my Church” I believe every word of the Nicene Creed, and I well up inside with indescribable feelings when I proclaim my belief during the Holy Sacrafice of the Mass.
I gave this background so you’d know I only thought that any old God would do, as long as you were nice, or some such thing as that. I don’t anymore. I think God has a plan for us. I think it was laid out 2,000 years ago. It took me 1/2 a century to find it, but I did, once I asked.
Ask, and it shall be given unto you. He stands at the door, knoking. Let Him in, and he’ll stay with you forever. You’ll die, and Christ will live on inside you. There is no other church, cult, idea system, philosophy, group, etc. that ever offered me eternal life before! That gave me such a wonderful road to take to heaven! That helped me understand my suffering, and that a greater good comes out of it!
God bless one and all,
Taste and SEE!!!

My main point that I follow is how to know what is the true faith and it says to follow the teachings of the Apostles that have been given to you either written or by word of mouth.Does the only thing that really “matters” to you is that you believe in God? Or does it matter to be a part of the “right” religion?
Are you positive that you are a member of the one, correct religion? (Catholic, Mormon, Muslim, Baptist)
Does it matter to you if you are not?
What main points lead you to believe that you are a follower of the “correct” or “right” religion?
islam has both, as does buddhisim, as does Christianity… Are you referring to all three? My main point that I follow is how to know what is the true faith and it says to follow the teachings of the Apostles that have been given to you either written or by word of mouth.
So in order to have the true teachings your church must have both Oral teachings and written. There is only one Church that has both.![]()
But what do they teach about Jesus? That’s the Only issue from which rightness or wrongness comes.islam has both, as does buddhisim, as does Christianity… Are you referring to all three?
Islam has oral teaching that it reveres as highly as the Koran? Can you please provide a reference?islam has both, as does buddhisim, as does Christianity… Are you referring to all three?
