Jimmy if you spend your time teaching Christ and Him crucified The Catholic Church becomes irrelavent.
Hisalone, the church is the holy bride of Christ. She NEVER becomes “irrelavent.”

My church does at time remain us that, there are stuff we can learn from traditional churches. Sometime my pastor would quoted disguished theology wrote by early father like Saint Augustine, Assasi…😉
Coz we learned among each other to grow our faith…

Hello Hisalone,

How do you know how I spend my time? Are you addressing me personally or Catholicism in general?

You are not starting another one of those bad Catholic rumors, are you?

Among many other Christian Truths, the Roman Catholic Church does “teach Christ and Him crucified”, using your words.

The focal point of Catholicism is on Jesus Christ. Do you know much about Catholicism?

How is it (if this applies) that your denomination can for instance, “avoid Mary”. Does your church ignore the “Nativity Story” or the “Wedding at Cana”?

Christianity is much more than a few “sound-bites” or “talking-points” and it is much more than a “handful” of Bibles verses.

BTW your post doesn’t answer the question posed in this thread, what is your response to the question posed here?

Thanks for your post. 👍
Ive seen numerous of your posts. You have made a man made instituion your idol and have forgotten God.

Hello Hisalone, thank you for your post…you’re funny…😃

“man made institution”

Really?..Hisalone, how did you “find out” about Jesus? Did He come to you in a dream? I would like to know how you learned about Jesus?

And, where do you learn these… Oh so… “Original” anti-Catholic “sound-bites”, did you come up with these all on your own, or did you first hear them from another “man”, because I have heard these “Protestant”, sound-bites of “your’s’” before? Did you hear them first from another “man”?. Was it from a “man-made” institution”?

Is your “Bible” hand written on papyrus, or was it made on a ‘man-made” printing press?

Did you use “man-made” money to buy your “man-made” Bible or did it drop down from heaven…Can you see my point here yet?

What is a “man-made institution” in your opinion?

What is not a “man made institution”, in your opinion?

Why should I, or anyone else “listen” to you, aren’t you a “man”?

I am looking forward to your answers to these questions.

God Bless You 👍

The Catholic Church was “man-made” by the Son of Man, Christ Jesus. I’m thrilled and humbled to be in His Church, which honors God the way He designed us to.

but if I don’t convert…my sig. other has approved of bringing the child up in both faiths.

Then she’ll have to lie to the priest. One of the pre-requisites for even allowing a mixed faith marriage is the vow to raise the children Catholic.

Does your non-Catholic Christian church teach you about Catholicism?

What have you heard? Is it a secret, or can you share it with us?

What does your non-Catholic Christian Church teach you about Catholicism? Be honest and don’t pull any punches, we Catholics can handle it.

Are there any specific things about Catholicism that are keeping you from ever becoming Catholic?

Please share with us Catholics a summary of what it is that you are actually taught or what it is that you believe about Catholicism.
The churches i have attended have never brought it up or discussed it.

Focus on Christ, He will be your love.
Focus on a man made institution and that will be your love.
Hisalone, it seems that you need to take a couple of steps back and look are what you are saying. The Catholic Church was founded by CHRIST. It, unlike the plethora of feuding Protestant sects, was not founded by a mere man. 😉

What should protestants make of the time when there were anti popes? The time when there were 3 popes contending for the papacy in the 13-14th centuries?

Why should Protestants make anything of it? Protestants do not consider themselves subject to the Pope, so why would contention for the office concern them at all?

I have heard by my own ears a baptist pastor teaching a serman on how the RCC is the whore of babylon, if you would like to hear it…www.fbcj.com

It is discusting to listen to, and i cant believe they teach this! So to say “we dont waste our time on talking about catholics” is a line of you know what. Protestants are protestant for a reason, to protest the catholic faith.

That’s silly.

I have been a Protestant for 48 years and I can remember Catholicism being mentioned once in church–one of the other kids in my Sunday School class asked if Catholics were Christians. The teacher responded by essentially saying that some are, some aren’t. I’m confident that this was the same answer that he would have given had that kid asked if members of my church were Christians.

I know some Protestants still attack the Catholic Church, but based on my 48 years on this planet, as far as the majority of us are concerned, Catholicism isn’t on our radar.

Sorry, I’m not protesting your church at all. I don’t define myself by any differences between us, I hold no illusions that I’m “better” than any of you and I’m saddened by the divisiveness I see whether initiated by televangelists (whom I instinctively distrust) or by Catholics.

Yeah it is silly, did you listen to the serman on “the whore of babylon” It is redicules, the pastor cracks jokes about catholics and he hollars about how the pope is the antichrist and so on.

There is no doubt some Protestants do have issues with the RCC. An isolated “rant” by a lone Baptist minister is not an indictment against every Protestant no more than the “rant” of many RCC posters on this board is indicitive of the RCC’s teaching and beliefs about Protestants. I’m sure if we looked hard enough, we’d also find an RCC priest who may have less than kind words to say about the Reformed faith traditions during his homily.

In a First Day School class I attended, we did speak about the RCC…we commented concerning our “similarities”…especially the RCC mystics and how many of their contemplative practices mirrored many of the disiplines of worship we employ.

So, my original post wasn’t exactly correct…but in our worship experiences, if Catholicism is ever…EVER mentioned…it’s to draw attention to our similarities…especially our belief…albeit different…in the “Real Presence” in our communion after the manner of Friends.

George Fox once said…"“all christians are believers, both **Protestants and Papists;” **The Lord opened to me that if all were believers, then they were all born of God, and had passed from death to life; [becoming a new creature, old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new] and that none were true believers unless that had happened; and though others said they were believers, yet they were not."

Other than discussing 'outward forms", which include most Protestants as well as Orthodox and Catholics, Friends typically do not enumerate our differences, but focus on our similarities and the One who alone makes us whole.

That is correct, not ALL protestant churches teach this, but i know a baptist church in town that does, and i found one on the internet that i gave you too.
As far the catholic priest saying obsurd things that have NOTHING to do with our faith during the homily, is redicules. I have never heard a priest and catholics can attend any catholic church mass, so ive heard a few, talk about any other religion.

That is why i was ignorant to the fact that “some” protestants believe catholics are not christian, and other stupid things. But im learning with being on these forums.

You may be correct…perhaps no Catholic priest ever speaks against any other religious belief during his homily…I have only attended mass three to four times in my life and in those three to four times I never heard a comment about others. Your experience I’m sure is more wide spread than mine and you may be in a position to monitor each and every homily given…

But “one Baptist church” does not a case make either…in my opinion of course.🙂

I totally agree with you on that, but we can be honest and say there are many of them out there that do. Just for an example, there are 2 first baptist churches in a 2 mile distance, one teaches about the whore of babylon being the rcc and the other does not. LOL that is just how random they are!
