Donald Trump Calls for Barring Muslims From Entering U.S

Thanks for the information. I must have missed that little pearl of wisdom from Jeb. Actually, Rachel Maddow pointed out the other day that some of the other Republican candidates had said things no so different from what Trump said, and only marginally less extreme. She also had an interesting hypothesis regarding why Trump is saying all these outrageous things. Her thinking is that he is itching to be pushed out of the G.O.P. candidacy so that he can run as an Independent. In that way, he can lose with dignity since he doesn’t really want the job of POTUS in the first place. I tend to agree with Rachel on this.
This interpretation makes a lot of sense.

In some ways, he’s like Harold Hill in the Music Man. His GOP run was merely a con, a way to peddle his branded garbage and media ventures, but like Harold Hill, the con took on a life of its own. He’s too good a salesman.

That’s why, even though I’m not a republican and I despise everything he says, I find it impossible not to admire Trump’s schtick. It’s not his fault that people buy into his ****. If a sucker buys the Brooklyn Bridge from some grifter on the street, then I can’t really blame the grifter for the mark’s stupidity.

Don’t hate the playa, hate the game, so to speak.

How is he going to distinguish Muslims from Christians? Are they going to ask the immigrants/refugees about their religion?
So we can’t even distinguish between Muslims and Christians? Yep, let’s not vet them, just let everyone in, what harm can be done??

We have a system in the UK where any citizen can start a petition via a Government site. If more than 100,000 people sign up supporting an issue, the Government is obliged to consider debating it in Parliament.

A petition to ban Mr Trump from entering the UK has now achieved 250,000 sign-ups. We banned the Westboro Baptist bigots from coming into our country because they are hate-speakers, and I wouldn’t be sorry to see the same rule applied to Mr Trump.

How would *you *differentiate from a middle-eastern Muslim and a middle-eastern Christian? The terrorists at the heart of ISIS are a crafty and insidious lot; are you going to take their word at face value?

Neither would I. He’s already caused enough grief in Scotland with his mad golf course plans. Not to mention his billion dollar haircut

A month or so ago, Jeb Bush was calling for allowing only Christian refugees into the country, yet failed to provide any method for differentiating between the two, and let the issue die.
Why only Christians? Why not Jews, Hindus, Atheists or any other refugees?

Or the Birmingham bombing in 1964. No-one even thought of Muslims as terrorists back then.

ICXC NIKA.
Of course, because the automatic link because terrorism.and Islam is fairly recent. If you would have spoken.about terrorism in the 90s with IRA, ETA, sendero luminoso and the brigadas rojas, no one would have thought that Muslims had anything to do with terrorism.

We should probably do the same with all Latinos, since they’re the largest group responsible for terrorist attacks within US borders.

We’ll miss you, though, Jharek. 😉
Latino terrorism? Explain.

Crimes committed by Latin Americans in US states, or by American citizens having a Spanish name, while never acceptable, are no more “terrorism” than those committed by any other minority.

GEddie, I think the point of that post was not accusing Latinos of anything but saying they are also a group that Mr. Trump has seemingly been critical of, sort of said in a sarcastic tone.

Your idea is largely so… though I would quibble with the details,

The first World Trade Center bombing was in 1993: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1993_World_Trade_Center_bombing

There seems to have been prior problems involving the JDL, Jewish Defense League and possibly some Extremist types. Related was the slaying of Rabbi Meir Kahane, so this would seem to be a sort of Palestinian/Israeli type of affair: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Assassination_of_Meir_Kahane

I’m sure those more knowledgeable could possibly discuss this further.

Not really.

All Terrorists are Muslims…Except the 94% that Aren’t

FYI
Trump is Attacked for Proposed Muslim Ban, But a Democratic President Actually Banned Entry from Muslim Nation
While progressive outlets are exploding with outrage and assertions of Republican xenophobia are rampant after Donald Trump’s proposal that Muslim immigrants should temporarily not be allowed into the country, Daniel Greenfield of FrontpageMag has reminded people of an uncomfortable historical fact.
Jimmy Carter froze immigration from the Muslim-majority nation of Iran after the 1979 hostage crisis.
George Bush also froze visas from Middle Eastern Countries after the 9/11 attack.

Saying that Trump follows in the footsteps of Jimmy Carter and George W. Bush is hardly a ringing endorsement.

I hope DT does get banned from Britain. Maybe then the GOP will finally unhitch it’s bandwagon from him. We can’t have a Head of State who is PNG in London!

This might be the best thing England has done for America since building Jamestown!

Why would American voters care about what those in a foreign country have to say about an American leader?
