DEBUNKED: Team Trump’s Ugly Smear Of Latino Lawyers Group

San Diego La Raza Lawyers Association is a pretty typical professional group that promotes diversity and Latino empowerment in the legal community. You can find similar organizations for African American lawyers, Asian lawyers, female lawyers and so forth, as well as parallel organizations in almost every other industry.
Now, thanks to a smear campaign by Trump and his supporters, who have used Curiel’s connections to the group to justify the presumptive GOP nominee’s attacks on him, the attorneys group has had to defend itself against claims of having a “radical” agenda, being racist, and of unduly influencing Curiel. Like other institutions and people targeted by Trump and his associates, the attention has also led a backlash of “hateful” phone calls, emails and Facebook post, according to the group.

No one disputes the group called for boycotting Trump’s businesses and called him a bigot. Hardly what you would expect from a judge ruling over one of his cases

There are two different groups. I’m not sure that we are talking about the same one. I could be wrong, though.

But is hardly surprising that any Hispanic group would comment after being called rapists and drug lords by anyone.

Nice twisting of my words, there. This is exactly what I was talking about: One of the reasons that Mr. Trump is so popular is that people are sick of having the “racist” accusation thrown in their face no matter what they say, while “People of Color” are given a pass when it comes to obeying the law, working for a living, burning down their city, etc. Personally, I agree with most of Mr. Trump’s economic, foreign, and military policies. But his willingness to call people out on their BS is what’s got me seriously considering him.
Well, you did say that Obama being a black President caused the Trump phenomena and Trump does say racist things. Now you are saying that “People of Color” are given a pass when it comes to obeying the law, working for a living, burning down their city, but somehow people are sick of having the ‘racist’ accusation thrown in their face. So it does seem like you are saying there is a racial component that many would call racist to Trump’s support.

I don’t really know enough about La Raza but I do know there is controversy about this organisation and this article doesn’t touch on it really. Of course “hateful” phone calls etc. should be denounced, but this organisation has controversy surrounding it.
So there is multiple organizations that use the term La Raza. There is a national organization called La Raza that is a political entity that has said problematic things in the past. There are other groups that use the term La Raza and it is nothing more than a local organization for Hispanic professionals that does is in no way affiliated with the national organization. So the one the judge is a part of is a local organization and he is not associated with the national one.

So Trump rather than addressing anything on the merits (because his Trump University is at the very least super sketchy and even if legal was definitely misleading and taking advantage of its customers), goes after and attacks the judge’s credibility to bring him down because anyone who isn’t a yes man to Trump is his enemy. Shows a tremendous lack of character on trumps part but this entire election is full of people with no character. So its literally a lose lose situation. Some just have hope that Trump will keep some of his word about stuff he has said though he literally speaks out both sides of his mouth at times. I have no trust in him so I will most likely not vote for either candidate.

DEBUNKED: The “debunking” (N.B; Putting something in all caps doesn’t make it true. As an example of how to show evidence, I’ve provided links to my sources below)

The San Diego La Raza Lawyer’s Association is a part of the California La Raza Lawyer’s Association. The websites for both of these groups link directly to the National Council of La Raza (See for yourself). The California Association lists among its founders a Mr. Mario Obledo, who was quoted as saying that California was going to be a “Hispanic state” and that anyone who didn’t like it could “go back to Europe”.

Saying that “La Raza” isn’t a racist group is about on par with stating that the KKK isn’t racist. They just get a pass because they’re not white, and popular (Liberal) “logic” is that a non-white person cannot be racist under any circumstances. Even when they call for a “reconquista” of California, Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas (What they term “Aztlan”) and the expulsion of all non-Latinos.

Why should any of us care what people say about us if we know it isn’t true or we don’t think it is a negative?

Unlike some in these forums, I have been discriminated against because of my gender (female) and religion (Catholic). My grandparents were discriminated against because of race (Irish was considered not quite white) and Catholic. One also had the additional problem of being disabled (polio).

For those of you who are feeling discriminated against, is this a new feeling? If yes, why aren’t you feeling empathy for those who have spent most of their lives in this situation? If it is not new, what are you doing to eliminate discrimination in your immediate environment?

Do you think the Italian American lawyers Association is a racist society? I bet Irish or Germans aren’t allowed to join.

Well said, sallybutler, Well said!

Because today, being called racist, sexist, or homo/trans-phobic is enough to cost a person their entire livelihood, and there is no way to prove one’s innocence of such an accusation.

Then stand up and shout down those who cheapen real discrimination by claiming to be “discriminated against” when we don’t agree with everything that comes out of their mouths and abase ourselves before them for the crime of being white, heterosexual, and religious.

I’m doing what I can to call out virtue-signalling, false claims of racism, and false claims of discrimination when and where I can.

Does Donald Trump denying that there were discriminatory practises in regards to rental, or in his regards to his casinos, make him a racist? He could have genuinely believed that there was not any wrongdoing on the part of his business, that doesn’t mean that he was correct, but it doesn’t mean that he was racist.

Regarding birtherism, according to Politico, birtherism in regards to Barack Obama started with supporters of Clinton. Are those Clinton supporters racist if Donald Trump is for questioning Barack Obama?

I don’t think questioning the birthplace/birth certificate in regards to Barack Obama being eligible to run/be president makes one necessarily a racist.

There’s no doubt that Trump has made some comments which people will call racist, but I also know that there are Black and Hispanic people who say he is not a racist. These are supporters of his. It’s also worthwhile to consider that somebody can change and move away from comments they have made in the past and I hope Donald Trump won’t make such comments again and I hope he feels sorry for those comments, even if he won’t publicly say it.

But again, I say similarly as before, if you are going to analyse statements made by Trump, and you should, so should you the Clintons. Individuals will have to judge for themselves what they make of them. I’m not saying the Clintons are racists, but they have both made comments that have controversy surrounding those comments.

So, you will support women against people who say they got their job because of who they are married to, blacks when people scream affirmative action, Muslims when a terrorist commits a heinous act, Jews when they are accused of owning the media, people with an Hispanic last name that were born in the U.S., people that appear homosexual when they are denied jobs?

One can hope.

See? You call me a sexist, racist, anti-Semitic Islamophobe, and there’s no possible defense for me. Thank you for demonstrating a perfect application of the Democratic Party Identity Politics Playbook.

My attitude is simple: Real equality. I hold everyone to the same standards to which I hold myself. If I make an accusation against someone, I expect to be disbelieved unless I provide proof. If I break the law, I expect to be punished for it. If I need food on my table and a roof over my head, I work for the money to make those things possible. If I move somewhere else, I do so legally and adapt to their customs, laws, and language. Somehow, this makes me sexist, racist, and a horrible person. 👍

No one accused you of anything. They asked you to further explain your reasoning.

A) I never said the things you are suggesting I said. I only asked if you have stood up for those that have been accused of things without proof.

B) I have done all the things in your second paragraph. I have supported my family (my hus was disabled and unable to work), I supported my parents, I moved to other states for work, I paid for both my children’s college, etc

As my children would say to B, so what, that was your duty as a citizen, child, and parent. You don get points for doing the basic.

A is much harder. Standing against racism before it is directed towards you, religionism (you know what I mean even if it is not a word) directed against non-Catholics, sexism whether anti-women or anti-male (watch sitcoms for the latter) is what we are called to do.

I don’t think we are supposed to care about how we are treated, but how we treat others.

What he’s talking about is the fact that the American left runs around shouting “racist” whenever they don’t have the argument.

It’s gotten so bad that some minority Trump supporters are even being called racist, bigoted and sexist, which isn’t possible by First World progressive standards.

Folks like Donald Trump and other commentators like Pat Condell, Milo Yiannopolus and Steven Crowder who lead the way are taking this head-on and challenging it. Even left-leaners like feminist Cristina Hof-Summers and David Rubin are taking this on.

The attempt to explain this away in the vague words of “many would call racist” is meaningless, because those of us who support Trump know they’ll call us racist, sexist bigots no what we say or do. Even minorities are subjected to this. In the last week, a Latino I know was called a racist.

It is nothing more than a tool to silence people whether they shout the n-word or just want to make life better for Americans.

As Yiannopolus says “nobody is buying this anymore”. The left is going to have to face up on a more level playing field when arguing with Trump supporters because 1) it’s annoying and 2) it kills the free market that leads to prosperity, and ironically, jobs for ethnic studies professors.

But is hardly surprising that any Hispanic group would comment after being called rapists and drug lords by anyone.
Trump was referring to illegal immigrants. Contrary to the left-wing narrative, not every illegal immigrant in the USA are hard-working, honest Hispanic families.

The fact is many people who are illegally are dangerous which is why we need Kate’s Law.

Again, check the facts not American liberal talking points.

It’s not my idea, it’s what Darryl is suggesting. I really hope it is not true because it would suggest that Republicans are so upset over the Obama Presidency that they would choose their nominee based on the racist things he says.
Since Trump hasn’t said anything racist, I don’t see the problem. The only reason the “racist” term is used is because the left doesn’t have the arguments and they need large numbers of minorities to win so they have to create a false narrative hysteria to win.

If the left wants to talk to us, they’ll have to come with facts from here on out.
