So this how educated people are to pick the best qualified person for the job? Based on if someone can make fun of their initials. Not surprising that this is what the left deems important. 🤷 No wonder we are in the shape we’re in.
That’s democracy for you. Got to pander to the lowest common denominator.

The Stuarts are looking better and better the longer this election goes on.

Not nastiness at all. The women who participated in ā€˜Periods for Pence’ were making an extremely strong point. Pence wanted to control women’s periods, their pregnancies, their miscarriages, their abortions, their giving birth. Well, this is what happens when you seek to regulate all those things - you get push back.
Wow! Is that how they report news in San Francisco? Make it up to fit some narrative they already have? That bears to resemblance to reality.

I thought that was a pretty well established tactic of our modern state religion’s organs of propaganda.

There will be a press conference with Trump and Pence on Saturday at 11:00am ET.

I think that sums it up very well. This pick makes absolutely no sense to me…unless Trump wants to lose the election.

John
I can think of a few times when it seemed like Trump was sabotaging his own campaign, but this doesn’t seem like one.

I wouldn’t say its deliberate, but he has certainly made a hash of the last 48 hours or so. They completely bungled the announcement and the roll out. They took what should be one of the most positive moments in the campaign and made it a negative.

There was a terrorist attack in Nice the day before the official announcement! Pence’s name was leaked as being the vice presidential candidate but the Trump campaign can’t have foreseen what would happen in Nice, and the awful events there obviously impacted the press conference which was meant to be happening today.

I don’t believe the Nice attack was the reason for the delay. He didn’t suspend any of his other appearances or events. The leak shows a serious lack of campaign discipline. The apparent change of heart at the last minute is bad, and is probably the real reason for the delay. The leak of his indecision is worse than the first leak. The failure to have any kind of coherent rollout for the VP nominee is puzzling. (And supports the story that they campaign was internally divided on the pick.) Plus, they don’t appear to know who is speaking at the convention, or even who they have invited (for example, Tebow, Rabbi Lookstein).

For the most part, Trump has run a brilliant campaign. But these have been a very bad couple of days. They need to get it together.

The leak of Pence as VP may not have been an accident but may have been purposeful, because even though Pence’s name had already been circulated as a possible VP, they may have leaked it to try and get more reaction.

Trump Spent Thursday night trying to kick Mike Pence to the curb as VP pick

This is odd because Pence has a long reputation as being a not very bright milquetoast. Which would seem to make him an excellent choice for Trump.
Trump’s campaign has been leaking like a sieve this week. First, his V.P. pick was leaked a solid day before his planned big announcement and now this. After hearing all the reports about the drama last night, I’m starting to think Manafort leaked the Pence pick to force Trump’s hand. It sounds like Trump was the only one who wanted Christie and was getting a big push from Manafort and the kids to pick Pence.

Whoever leaked the ā€œback-outā€ story really, really wanted that story out there. Multiple sources are reporting it and both Dana Bash and Kelly O’Donnell have said they spoke directly to campaign insiders who confirmed the late night drama. Ultimately, Trump was told he would look like a big heel if he went back on his word to Pence. It’s sad he had to be told that.

Funny, as I was writing this, I heard on the news that Trump is furious that his big roll at plans were spoiled by the early leak of Pence as his pick. I wouldn’t want to be the leaker(s) when Trump finds out who’s talking.

I was typing my earlier response when you posted this. Obviously, I agree! GMTA šŸ˜›

How stupid of him not to know there was going to be a terrorist attack in Nice You do know that Pence had only until noon today to file for re-election? Given that what do you propose Trump should have done differentially?

Yep, I agree there, too. I think it may have been leaked to back him into a corner though, if someone thought he was hedging and might switch to Christie.

I did not know that. Thanks Bob:thumbsup:

I don’t believe that Christie was ever in the mix. A governor whose state has been downgraded what? 3 times? Doesn’t really fit the ā€œit’s the economy stupidā€ template, if you ask me.

He will be AG.

Newt Secy of State, I bet.

Incidentally, I have seen it reported that polling shows it’s the economy, terrorism and illegal immigration that are the most on people’s mind. That’s certainly more in Trump’s wheelhouse than HRC’s.

Probably because he didn’t want to pick Pence in the first place. But now he’s stuck with a VP he really doesn’t want. 😃

Always a good sign when people with horrendous views on issues to begin with think you’ve made a bad choice on a candidate or issue. Makes me like the Pence pick even more.

If he didn’t want Pence he wouldn’t of picked him I sense real fear front he left

With all due respect
  1. Candidates have the final say
  2. Can you imagine a world where Trump wouldn’t pick whomever he wanted? I sure can’t
