It may be false, but you do have to admit that he is on his third marriage. Did he get an annulment from his first wife?. If the answer is no, he may be living in sin (unless he and Callista are living like siblings).
Gingrich married one of his high school teachers. Cheated on her, divorced her while she was on her death bed, and married his younger mistress. When she got older he cheated on her, divorced her, and married his younger mistress. Like most rich and powerful people, he had no trouble getting his first two marriages annulled. But his behavior speaks for itself.

Since he is in good standing with the Catholic Church I think it is safe to assume that both marriages were annulled. I am pleased, however, to see Democrats suddenly concerned about morality .
Both parties are only concerned with morality when they can use it to point fingers at the other party. It is nothing but raw partisanship on both sides.

This focus on the morality of Republicans is a good example of focusing on the spot in the eye of your neighbour, while ignoring the log in your own eye.
Yes, of course, Republicans only have little itty bitty sins and no logs like Democrats…

Pretty sure he would have taken care of any Church concerns before marrying Calista since he became a Catholic.
And I am sure that the Church has investigated all of this. Let those without sin cast the first stone.

Must’ve been on that deathbed a long time since she died in 2013. His second wife is also alive. But this is character assassination works on the Internet. Nobody bothers to check on the claims theyre making.

Newt was 19 when they married.

She was not on her deathbed when they divorced.

Can we turn this into a prayer thread. With Hillary and Donald as leading candidates surely we need it.

No I am not trivializing what my mother taught me. She taught me that I should do what was right, regardless of what the government said or my boss said, and that I must be willing to accept the consequences. If that meant a I didn’t h area job, I should offer it up for the souls in heaven and look for another job.

Whenever I hear people complaining that they are not being granted their Christian rights by the government, I can’t help thinking of the martyrs of Rome. What would they think of us complaining and whining because of a cake and fines? They faced lions with no alternatives. In America, people can find another job, even if it is working at McDonald’s.

We Christians in the U.S. have nothing to complain about.
I’m not so sure finding another job’s the right first answer. I mean why do good people always have to leave when corruption comes to town? Why can’t they just stand their ground and be a good influence back? Why don’t people with bad morals have to leave the job instead?

All that seems to leave behind is people who agree with the new rules. So nothing ever changes except a faster slide to darker shades. I’d prefer good people just stayed still. And tried hard just to take a pass on doing things they don’t agree with.

But at the same time I think it would then be fine for the employer to hire people who will do what he wants instead. So I guess in most cases the protesting employee would get sacked. But at least they’d go down fighting.

Just like I think it should be fine for a business owner to sell to whoever she wants whenever she wants. I mean what’s with forcing someone to take someone else’s money? Seriously. Would you want your baker to be *forced *to bake you a cake? Would you seriously eat something from someone forced to make it for you under protest? I’d rather my baker was really happy to see me.

Or something.

Peace.

Trump keeps distance in GOP platform fight on gay rights

What. A. Surprise.

So does he keep sidestepping until the convention is over and then speak his mind? Will those in the GOP pushing for a shift in the party’s platform on LGBT issues be successful? Or are Republicans going to keep the same platform language and vote for a man who (at least covertly) undercuts it?

I presume most social conservative realise that Donald Trump is not somebody that is going to be out there like Ted Cruz talking about same-sex marriage in a similar way that Cruz did, but I think many will believe that Hillary Clinton is worse on the issue and on religious freedom than Donald Trump.

The draft of new platform has dropped the constitutional amendment for traditional marriage, but says among other things, “Our laws and our government’s regulations should recognise marriage as the union between one man and one woman and actively promote married family life as the basis of a stable and prosperous society”

edition.cnn.com/2016/07/11/politics/republican-platform-trade-gay-marriage-abortion/

Have they announced what is in the new new Democratic platform regarding marriage yet? Actually I shouldn’t be asking because of course the answer is a full embrace of same-sex marriage.

Ditto for protectionism and isolationism versus free trade.
