Are you saying out of the 16 other candidates running that none had a clear conservative vision? Are you saying that the Republicans have no clear conversrvative vision?
Why do you make it a habit to find things that someone says that are not there?

“THE whole modern world has divided itself into Conservatives and Progressives. The business of Progressives is to go on making mistakes. The business of the Conservatives is to prevent the mistakes being corrected.”
— Illustrated London News, 4/19/24.

The Republican conservative vision in 2016 was the Democratic progressive vision in 1996.

I saw in the news that Trump is considering picking retired Lt. Gen. Michael T. Flynn, a registered Democrat, to be his running mate.

As I have said before, I don’t think those Republicans in fly-over country will go for two easterners on the ticket. Neither one of them seem very classy. On the other hand, conservatives would gladly take Gingrich or Pence.
Which is weird, since Gingrich seems like an Easterner. Of course, some of us think anyone not west of the Mississippi is an Easterner.

Ginggrich is well respected conservative throughout the country and seems more southern than easterner (even though he is really southeastern, hA!).

He would be a good choice. His biggest weakness is his many marriages, but that won’t hurt him much given who Clinton is married to!
I bet his first wife didn’t respect him after he divorced her while she had cancer and was in the hospital.

I think Gingrich gets a pass because he wasn’t Catholc before he married Calista.
From what I understand of Church law, his first marriage was valid and unless annulled, is still valid. We recognize marriages in other churches, we do no require people get remarried when they convert.

That is my understanding, too.

Don’t know. I would think these are normally provate and the fact that the 2nd marriage was publisized is strange!
Since he is in good standing with the Catholic Church I think it is safe to assume that both marriages were annulled. I am pleased, however, to see Democrats suddenly concerned about morality .

This focus on the morality of Republicans is a good example of focusing on the spot in the eye of your neighbour, while ignoring the log in your own eye.
