It would be representation for the sake of hearing all voices.
Political parties are based on a shared ideology. Why - in a purely ceremonial announcement of results from an election where everyone did make their voice heard - would you want to reward people for nothing more than having a particular skin color as opposed to those who have worked for the party and supported its ideology?
Again, quotas and affirmative action aren’t the same thing.
The DNC has a stated goal of meeting particular numbers with regard to race - so many black people, so many hispanic people, etc - exactly how is that not a quota?

But that’s part of the problem, isn’t it. Why doesn’t the Republican party attract very many black people or other minorities? Could it be that they don’t feel welcome there?

I can tell the person who did this has a poor understanding of borders, the immigration process, and how immigration affects a country. But then again it’s a someone from LA. Go figure.
While the stereotype is that everyone in LA in a liberal atheist, that isn’t actually true.

That’s not what’s stated in the passage shared by estesbob.
Take a look at page 47 of this document. The guidelines used by the Democratic Party of Washington State are those put forth by the Democratic National Committee.

Back to the Future II … Biff Tannen for President!
Aaaaaaah it’s come true … The prophesy of BTTF has been fulfilled … Run … Run … Run … And pray to God for Mercy!

He seems to have completely overlooked the involvement of his own party in the Iraq war. And this rubbish about a wall!!! What sort of utter mind-numbing lunacy is this wall.

After the U.S. Civil War, black people exclusively joined the Republican Party and were elected to Congress in large numbers.

“They want to put y’all in chains!” says Joe Biden.
While the mainstream press, who are 85% or more on the Democratic party side, don’t go as far as VIce President Biden, their characterization of the Republican party certainly leans in that direction.

And it has for a long time, and it’s reinforced by the statements from black leaders and the black caucus.

.
Further since the early 70s after Vietnam and Roe vs Wade the parties by large have been in flux. A good many of us here were in the Democrat party back then. In fact I am moderate liberal the democrats are just wrong. In fact to me in a surreal way we are back to those issues we were addressing then abortion, racism and lying about how great we doing in “war”. . The Rep platform is more conducive to me as a Catholic and I could never vote Democrat for that reason. I don’t rationalize Christ for “any” party. And if the democrats were so inclusive then the unborn would be their first priority. While the Rep morphed into something different in the early 60s the Democratic party did the late 60s- early 70s.

If 99% of the people believe a lie its still a lie.

There seems to be a presumption that if ypu believe in markets, then you are racist. Why else can joe get away with such extreme rhetoric.

I disagree with liberals on many issues, but I don’t fear them. I think they are destroying our country, but I don’t fear them.

But liberals often mention “fear” when they speak about Republicans or conservatives.

Are they afraid that we will take away their unalienable right to unrestricted abortion? (We should.)

Are they afraid that we will continue to support the 2nd amendment? (We should.)

Are they afraid that we will continue to speak out against so-called gay “marriage”? (We should.)

Are these things (and more) at the heart of this “fear”? Fear??? 🤷

I can understand disagreeing with the right, but “fearing” conservatives doesn’t make sense to me.

I think there is a very good chance Trump will be the next President. I also think any hope of restoring conservative and Christian values is rapidly disappearing.

As Peter Thiel said at the convention that is proud to be gay, and he also said:

“When I was a kid, the great debate was about how to defeat the Soviet Union,” said Thiel, praising US technological innovations. “And we won.”

“Now we are told that the great debate is about who gets to use which bathroom,” he continued. “This is a distraction from our real problems.”

“Who cares?” he asked a cheering crowd.

He had plenty of applause and cheers for what he said–the Republican Party is far different than it was just ten years ago.

I am afraid practicing Catholics have no party they can trust.

I fear a demagogue like Trump could literally start world war 3. It’s no secret how thin skinned he is and how he lashes out at other’s on twitter. How extremely high school immature bullying he is. Now take that same mentality and put it into the most powerful position on earth. Ego, Power, those are the path to the dark side to paraphrase Yoda.

So as much as people hate, and I mean hate Hillary, they have to admit she has the experience as a first lady, Senator and Secretary of State.

Now who would you want to have their finger on the button?

edit: to make it clear I don’t fear conservatives/liberals at all, but rather judge a person on their actions. I’m specifically talking about Trump here, who has been a liberal and now a conservative. But it’s quite obvious he’s pandering and not being genuine. 2 corinthians anyone?

Fully agree with everything you say.
