unless he has other reasons as mentioned
Plausible as strategy seems lacking but who knows when he states he can shoot someone on fifth avenue and his base grows. Cruz will win Iowa imo as a result. I also don’t think Megan Kelly is altogether the issue but an aspect of the bigger picture.

If by good candidate you mean embarrassing to America and dangerous to this country and the world… Then I agree with you 100%
How has he embarrassed America? I have evidence from foreigners who post in this forum that they love what he is trying to do. They don’t want their protectorate to collapse under the weight of excessive obligations, politically correct thinking, and imperial overstretch.

The entire world is taking about this candidacy, and he has spend little money on advertisements. That is brilliant.

I agree, those who follow politically correct thinking despise this man. They would probably despise me as well.

But the masses are not politically correct. They want a fair shake in a system that has become rigged to favor the rich and outsiders. The middle class of the United States is endangered. Those are Trump’s people. This is a movement, not some guy who wants an ego trip.

What I don’t get is that in cyberspace at least, the populace sided with Trump against Kelly. She lost a lot of luster. And this is in keeping with this election cycle, where nothing he says ends up hurting him (the closest he came was the “McCain’s not a hero” bit which got forgotten quickly).

So from where I sit, why avoid the debate, unless he has other reasons as mentioned? Kelly and Fox News know there would extra scrutiny to not turn it into a “Fox News RNC debate featuring Cruz, Rubio, Christie, Carson, Kaisch, and Megyn Kelly versus Trump in the Main Event!”
I think Trump is gaining extraordinary attention by not attending. It is an oriental move…not obvious to westerners. Also most people will not tune in to this debate depriving Fox of profits. This hurts their pocketbook.

My prediction is that a rival network will cover whatever trump does during the debate that benefits the vets and that will get much better ratings than the fox debate. CNN would love to sell commercials for that.

I agree. This will be the least watched debate in this GOP go round. BTW the pretext behind Trump skipping the debate was Trump wanted a percentage of Fox Profits to go towards the same charity. Fox would not do this.

I bet Fox will blink.
It will be the least watched debate only because Trump is not there. If Cruz were also not there, it would probably not be watched at all! LOL

No offense, but I think Ted Cruz would do just fine too.
None taken. I think Cruz is a fine man. I just don’t think he has the constitutional qualifications to be POTUS. I wish this were not the case because I would really like him to be VP.

I have a feeling that trump may reach out to Cruz and debate him during that time slot as a benefit for the vets. Cruz hinted at this in a challenge yesterday.

Do you think a Trump-Cruz ticket is possible despite their animosity for one another? It happened with Reagan and Bush as well as Kennedy and Johnson.

They like each other. This got heated as Iowa got close. Cruz must win Iowa to remain viable. Trump merely needs a strong second place finish. It appears the rest of the states will be a cakewalk. Trump understands this. These two guys like each other and they are professionals. If anything I think Trump has respect for Cruz trying to win.

Trump came very close to offering Cruz the VP slot at the last debate if he got his legal problem vetted.

Are you referring to the “Canadian” problem? But isn’t that the issue which Trump himself brought up?

As has been said before, those who dislike’s Trump’s rise have no one to blame but the members of both parties. You have an administration that ran on transparency but has done most of its finest work under the shroud of darkness, and made every attempt to willfully disregard both the constitution and the will of the people. Everything has been purely ideological. And you have a Republican party that refuses to even buck the status quo, after years of promises to do just that.

People from both sides of the aisle are fed up and have had enough of the status quo. Perhaps if either the Democrats had been successful for average Americans while in power or Republicans had shown any backbone in doing what they were elected to do in 2010 or 2014, we would not have seen such a surge for an outsider.

I don’t want to hear anyone who supported Obama decrying Trump, as he is simply a product of dissatisfaction with the last 8 years.

He publicized a pre existing problem. It is a legitimate issue. I hate to pull rank but I practice constitutional law. He’s probably not qualified under the Constitution to be POTUS. I hope some tribunal says I am wrong.

You get it.👍

Integrity went out the window 8 years ago and now they would like to bring it back and breath life into a dead horse and via “Hillary”

Does anyone think Clinton will be a force after she used a near bribe to entice a pardon or a pass on felonies?

I’m sure Cruz sees it as a unexpected gift, and surely welcomes the opportunity.

Trump seems to have some brilliant moves now and then.
