Among people who watched the debate, though, the results were ominous:

Q: After watching Trump, do you feel more comfortable with him as a candidate for POTUS or less comfortable

A: More comfortable 23%
Less comfortable 55%
no difference 18%
undecided 3%

When asked if Trump was targeted unfairly by Fox’s moderators, 54 percent said no. When asked who was the most impressive at the debate, 23 percent said Marco Rubio, 22 percent said Ben Carson, and 11 percent said Ted Cruz. **Slightly less than 11 percent said Trump. **

This Republican woman won’t be voting for him.
Nor this one.

Did you miss that it is in the public record?? It is a bit beyond “cheating” and “adultery”.

Oh, this is none of our business, but Trump’s big bad tweets and a tv show are. Sorry, there is a question of family values, war on women and so on.
Who’s justifying Hilary Clinton’s behavior or Bill’s for that matter?

Just like Trump I don’t support Hilary for POTUS. Not by a long shot. Luckily Republicans have lots of other choices in the primary than Trump. The Dems will make their choice.

It is also forgiveness and sticking a marriage out - values last time I checked. Sincere or fake who knows. My guess is the marriage is just pure opportunism on both sides. My point though is it none of my business. Or anyone else’s. This would be like saying to Trump “Why is your hair so weird all the time?”

Personal attacks are not fair political questions. Trump should not have to answer for his hair any more than Hillary should for the fact that her husband sleeps around. I really fail to see the attraction of this line of questioning. (Bill’s cheating) As I said, there is so much legitimate low hanging fruit with which to attack Hillary. This is like reaching for a little, rotten, inappropriate, desiccated cherry at the top of the tree.
Yes, I completely agree with your viewpoint.

Nobody’s justifying it, I expect these kinds of questions to be asked of her in the debate. Should she go to the debates, Justice Department just seized her server.

Are they going to ask Candidate Clinton what she thought of her husband having sex with an intern in the oval office? Seems like it is an appropriate question if she wants to be President.
No, they should ask what she is going to do to protect women from her husband if she becomes president. And they should list all the incidents, to show that the question has merit.

If being politically correct is defined as not being an obnoxious jerk, then I will take politically correctness as preferable. Since when in America did politeness become a bad thing?
The way to stop a bully is to hit back. There is absolutely no other way, except to have someone else hit back. Since he’s running for pres, we expect him to show strength, and not run to someone else to fight his battles.

Your’s is a typical attitude, that conflict is always bad and only nice people are good. The problem is that the world is full of conflict and mean people. I want a president who can handle them.

But did he tell the truth about his position on abortion. He says now that he opposes it in case of rape or incest, but that exception was in a bill he sponsored.
There’s nothing wrong with sponsoring a bill that gets you closer to life, without having everything you want in it. The vatican even said it, Pope John Paul II.

Donald Trump is once again pushing the limit, bringing Megyn Kelly’s anatomy into a feud that had already opened him to charges of sexism — and the risk of losing support among the Fox News anchor’s rabid following.

After a day of escalating hostility, Trump took his attacks on Kelly to the next level on Friday night, apparently insinuating that the moderator had been menstruating when she questioned him during Thursday’s first Republican debate.

The crudeness of the comment sparked an immediate flurry of rebukes, including from RedState.com’s Erick Erickson who revoked an invitation for Trump to speak at his Saturday conference on the grounds that it showed he wasn’t a “legitimate” candidate.

On Saturday morning, Trump appeared to tweet a clarification of his previous remark: Re Megyn Kelly quote: “you could see there was blood coming out of her eyes, blood coming out of her wherever” (NOSE). Just got on w/thought.

I give Trump the benefit of the doubt on this. He was making an extemporaneous, heat-of-the-moment comment based on a common saying – “he’s seeing red” or “he’s seeing blood.” He mostly likely did not mean it the way that people whose mind is in the gutter interpreted it.

OTOH, his attack on the journalist reveals a lot. These journalists do their best to ask difficult, hard-hitting questions, and it is true they have their favorites and put more effort into tripping up opponents of their favorites. But this is just part of politics, and as they say, “If you can’t stand the heat, get out of the kitchen.”

The episode showed a real weakness in Trump.

I agree on both points. I don’t think he was saying she had her period and I’m embarrassed for those people who are making a movement out of it; a website was created about it overnight.

I don’t find him to be very articulate and he’s very petty. If you ever heard him interviewed about Rosie O. he said the same things each time and all the criticisms were about superficial things. Grow up, Trump. Even though you won’t be our commander-in-chief, do it anyway; think of the children.

Great piece by Commentary:

Can You Criticize Trump Without Insulting His Fans?
Give Donald Trump credit. By picking a fight with Fox News’ Megyn Kelly after last week’s Republican presidential debate, he skillfully changed the subject from his own terrible performance to one about a supposed biased forum in which he could play the victim. On the stage in Cleveland, he did nothing to give viewers the impression that he had the temperament or the knowledge of the issues to successfully compete in a general election let alone serve as commander-in-chief. But in employing his trademark bullying tactics as well as by making a vulgar comment about Kelly (that he later disingenuously claimed was innocent), Trump showed us that he is a master manipulator of the media. But the question to be asked about all of this is not so much whether his lead in the polls will last, but whether it’s ever going to be possible to speak or write honestly about Trump without such criticism being interpreted as a defense of the establishment or an unfair attack on voters who are fed up with business as usual in Washington? The answer is that as long as Trump is controlling the conversation, the answer may, unfortunately, be no.

Trump is an entertaining sideshow. Nothing more. As mentioned, Nate Silver, who is about as spot-on as they come with his statistical analysis, has given Trump a 2% chance of winning the nomination. And Larry Sabato and his team have written their detailed analysis as well, centerforpolitics.org/crystalball/.

Does Nate Silver still have Hillary as the DNC candidate? We take this serious?

He stated that, as of right now, she’s still the most likely person to win the Dem nomination. Which, btw, is true, unless she’s arrested and has a grand jury hearing. Unless and until this happens, she’ll be able to convince most Dems that all this is a “GOP witchhunt”. Sheesh - she’d probably be able to do this, anyway, if she goes to a grand jury and isn’t indicted, but it’d take up a huge part of her time during the campaign, and it’d be difficult for her to focus on both a grand jury hearing and the campaign at the same time.

But, as of right now, Bernie Sanders only leads Hillary in New Hampshire - Hillary still leads everywhere else, including IA, though by a much smaller margin than she did in April.

Regardless, the IA caucus is still 5 1/2 months away. If a week is an eternity in the 24/7 election news cycle, right now is really still too early to see anything. Remember, at this time in the 2012 election cycle (summer 2011), Michelle Bachmann led the GOP polls, followed by Hermann Cain in October. The problem right now is that the field is too crowded, and the announcements about “who’s ahead in the polls” just looks at the first choice - and doesn’t mention how many people have DQ’d that candidate in their minds. Trump may have the most people saying that he’s their first choice, at 20-25%, depending on the poll. But, 55-60% (depending on the poll) have someone else as their first choice, leaving 15-25% (depending on the poll) stating “NONE OF THESE”. Yes, “None of these” ranks in the top three in every poll. And more than half of GOP voters have already DQ’d Trump in their minds. The candidates that most haven’t DQ’d are in the “second group”, and who end up being the candidates that the political pundits believed would be the “contenders” - Walker, JEB, and Rubio. JEB is going to have problems with his brother and Iraq, which leaves Walker and Rubio, who are polling about the same (in the mid-single digits), but who are both poised to break out when other candidates drop out, because they are both high on people’s 2nd and 3rd choice lists.

He retweets a comment calling Megan Kelly a Bimbo . And people want this man to be the next president of United States ?
The only delight I take in the Trump candidacy is the fact that he has disrupted all the worthless GOP establishment’s plans. They set up the primary system in such a way that challengers will break their legs right out of the starting gate. Jeb was supposed to be coronated. Thanks in part to Trump’s presence, Jeb has been exposed as a walking gaffe machine who stands for nothing.
