Well, Richardols, I may not be able to “prove” it with the standards required in, say, a court of law, but it is more than a reasonable and likely conclusion.

Ronald Reagan moved to drive the Communist Sandinistas out of power. Jimmy Carter not only helped them come to power (see Congressional Record of February 26, 1980), he gave the Marxist Leninists $75 million in US Taxpayer’s dollars after they came to power and were spraying people with gasoline and burning them alive, or cutting out the hearts of live victims, like they did to Doctor Cornelio Hueck, the former Speaker of the Nicaraguan Congress. Reagan and the Republicans actively and deliberately set about to weaken and cause the collapse of the Soviet Empire. The Democrats opposed his policies at every turn, as did non-elected Liberals, too. Gosh, when that boring movie about a Marxist takeover of the USA, called AMERIKA, was aired on ABC TV, half the then flew to Moscow and held press conferences begging the Soviet “people’s” forgiveness for their having portrayed Communism in such a bad light. I still remember Kris Kristofferson sitting at the mike-covered table in the Kremlin, grovelling and begging for forgiveness. It was absolutely sickening.

You can believe what you want, and I’ll believe what I saw with my own eyes. I am 100% convinced, and with good reason, that if the Dems had run the show in the 80s, the Soviet Empire would still be going strong and then some.

It certainly is your impression of what we can expect. Has the Administration yet said that a political alignment will result in weekly terrorist bombings, sniper attacks, machinegunnings in the streets and subways, etc.? I don’t think that even Joseph Farah, the right-wing extremist editor of the World Net Daily, has painted this scenario as what to expect after next week.

Well… without the protections of the evesdropping on terrorists and without the coordination of the Patriot Act, we would be exactly where we were just before 9/11. And before 9/11, the terrorists had the freedom to do anything they wanted.

And look at what they actually did.

So, … what would there be to stop the terrorists if the Democrats do as they promise they would … get rid of the Patriot Act, get rid of “wiretapping and NSA evesdropping”, gutting the military budget (Charlie Rangel has already promised that) … In the past, the Democrats defunded ballistic missile defense, nuclear testing “sniffer” planes and high speed reconnaissance aircraft (along with about one-third of the entire U.S. military).

How would the terrorists be prevented from bombing, sniping, and using WMD’s in the United States???

All of the mechanisms for preventing the terrorists from acting would have been removed.

Their bases in the Middle East would be protected with the U.S. troops pulled out to Okinawa (Murtha) or back to the U.S.

With that major realignment, what defense would the United States have?

Actually, it’s not a matter of “now.” Your statement “the Democrats been running the White House and the Congress in the 1980s, all of Central America and Mexico would be under communist rule by now, we’d have scads of red terrorists from Latin America in our country, the Iron Curtain would still be standing in Europe, as would the Berlin Wall” is wholly unprovable.

I could just as well assert that had the Dems been in charge from 1960 until now, we’d be living in a paradise and some Republican could have replied that if the Republicans were in charge from 1960 until now, even God would want to move to the U.S. for all eternity. Both wholly unprovable, no matter how much we might think that such would have been so.

During the Carter Administration, eleven countries went Communist, … one right after the other. The first thing Reagan did was to put together a world-wide consortium of like-minded heads of state to reverse the Soviet juggernaut.

Here is what you can take to the BANK if the Democrats win back the Congress:

The Dems will aggressively see to broaden and promote Abortion Rights, undo current restrictions on Abortion (the few that there are), seek huge federal funding for abortion, will push to force university medical schools to FORCE those studying to be doctors or surgeons to learn how to perform abortions without any religious exception clause. They tried this with Hillary’s Health Care Reform in the early 90s, that’s one reason Hillary’s plan went down to defeat in flames.

The Dems will waste no time making up for lost time in aggressively pushing the Homosexual/GLBT agenda, including aggressive support for homosexual marriage, homosexual adoptions, etc, with no exceptions for religious sensibilities.
This is already happening in California (where a liberal Republican is governor).

The Dems will aggressively seek to pass new “Hate Speech” laws which, like those in Canada, criminalize any criticism of the Homosexual lifestyle, with few if any exceptions for religious institutions.

The Dems will aggressively seek to pass laws granting full Federal Funding for embryonic stem cell research, despite the fact that this is immoral, and despite the fact that adult stem cells work BETTER in all tests conducted so far.

The Dems will increase the already-large Federal funding of
Planned Parenthood, the nation’s biggest abortion-provider.

The Dems (if their rhetoric is to be believed) will pull our troops out of Iraq (where we never should have gone in the first place), allowing the radical Al-Qaeda insurgents and other Islamic fanatics to either take the country into fullscale civil war, or seize power and set up a terrorist state far worse than the Hussein regime.

The Dems will raise taxes through the roof, mostly on corporations, the upper middle class, and the rich.
Just remember: When your company starts paying much higher taxes, they also STOP giving YOU good salary increases.

Oh, and yes, the Dems will raise the minimum wage (not a bad thing in itself at all).

And some of the Dems will try to impeach Bush.

So yes, the Democrats do have ideas. Unfortunately for me, 90% of their ideas are contrary to my Catholic Faith and are wicked crimes against God and humanity.

If the President of the United States, backed by Congress and the Governor of Florida, cannot provide food and water to one bedridden lady in a hospital, then maybe he should just quit and go home. Previous Presidents have triumphed over enemies more powerful than a single crazed judge. The truth is that he wasn’t serious: he was just pantomiming to the prolifers, as always.

Time for you to tell us just how the President and the Congress can overrule a court? The only way I know of, legally, is amending the Constitution.

If big business won’t do it, I am certain that big government will. I would prefer it otherwise, but big business has freed itself from the restrictive confines of patriotism - they don’t even pretend to care anymore. I certainly do not see the Church stepping in - even Catholic schools are exclusively for the rich these days (to send my first-grader to our parish school would cost more than a year at my university!). For the rest of us, it’s big government or go without. I’ve seen go without and it gets ugly fairly quickly. I won’t let my kids suffer that, just to keep things cozy for the country club set.

Wow, the Catholic schools in my area are quite affordable. If the government provided a full scholarship to every public school student so they could attend a private school, it’d save them money. On the issue of healthcare and the like, I suggest you visit the Heritage Foundation or the Cato Institute and review their studies on the subject.

We know the Republicans have consistently gotten pro-life judges and pro-life legislation, but the Democrats have consistently opposed the pro-life judges and pro-life legislation.

The left, aided by the drive by media are hoping that we would see Tuesday as a lost cause and stay home. To the contrary, I see you folks are energized and ready to exercise your right to vote. I already voted, and did so by absentee ballot.
The only pro-lifers available to me were Republican candidates, so I voted for them.
My congressman for my district, liberal Democrat Kendrick Meek, was running unopposed, so I had no say in the matter as far as he is concerned.

For Florida governor, I voted for Charlie Crist.
For U.S. Senate, I voted for Katherine Harris (although I’ll be the first to agree that she REALLY needs to learn how to apply her make-up more appealingly). Still, she is proLife, and the Left hates her. I doubt she will win, cuz Bill Nelson, our current Democrat senator, despite being a proAbort, has an affable public persona, and Katherine does not. Style over substance, but sad to say, that’s how it will probably turn out.

My apologies, I could not afford law school. However, if the President of the United States is powerless to provide food and water to an invalid, than perhaps my pro-life beliefs should no longer apply when voting for this particularly impotent political office, considering the inability of the officeholder to actually accomplish anything in this area.

Wow, the Catholic schools in my area are quite affordable.

The “Catholic” tuition for my local K-8 parochial school (only half of the non-Catholic rate):

Those prices are very reasonable…with a voucher system, which Democrats generally oppose, you could send your kids to Catholic school at those prices.

I find it is unreasonable to charge almost four thousand dollars for one kindergartener. My tuition at the top public university in the U.S. was about half that.

Well, in my state, the property taxes, sales tax and federal income tax all support the public schools…it cost me a lot. Why would you be against a voucher system in North Carolina? If they gave you half of what your state spends on each of your kids, you would be able to send them to private school…the other half would help out those who prefer public schools.

If they gave me half of $8100, that would be $4050. In that instance, I would prefer to keep the windfall and let the kids stay at home. Would the voucher system allow that?
