I remember the “tsuyu” well. Lots of clouds, drizzle, and humidity. Hard to dry your laundry in that weather.
today is my 12th wedding anniversary
Congratulations. Just celebrated my 13th five days ago.
*Yes, especially the attitude and patterns prevalent in electric blues, which heavily influenced the power trios of the 60s, like Cream (Eric Clapton) and the Jimi Hendrix Experience. The debt rock owes to electric bluesmen cannot be overstated. *
Rock was around long before the power trios you mention. Buddy Holly, Chuck Berry, Elvis, etc. came out over ten years earlier. Rock comes from all sorts of genres: Blues, R&B, country, folk, gospel. One can hear both the country and blues influences in Elvis’ Sun recordings from 1954 (12 years before Cream or Hendrix). Rock of course, evolved into different sub-genres, including hard rock like Clapton, Hendrix, etc.
Never really liked “Japanese Rock” or popular music. There are many local Japanese musicians who play rock very well. Once met a Japanese man who could play, note for note, every solo by Eric Clapton perfectly. Met the Ventures at the Hard Rock Cafe in Tokyo years ago - just before the drummer died. The Ventures are still huge in Japan.
