Jones isn’t going to jail. He can now dedicate his free time to anything he likes.

I wouldn’t vote for either one as well. I probably would have written a candidate in.

I’m not sure why they had an election to begin with. Luther strange is currently sitting in Jeff Session’s old spot.

What Trump should have done was pick an AG who didn’t have a safe senate seat.

Meh, never liked Roy Moore even as a conservative. As long as the Republican’s can still pass the tax reform, this may very well be for the best. I hear McConnell is trying to get it done before Jones takes his seat.

It was an election, not a court of law. Nobody is going to jail (yet). The voters exercised their right to choose the candidate they thought was best. Good for them!

With the Statue of Limitations being run out, all that we have left is the “Court of Public Opinion” or more aptly put the “Court of the Polling Booth” that was exercised at the Polls yesterday.

Furthermore he was already guilty of crimes against the constitution:

Roy Moore’s Crimes against the Constitution:
  1. He placed the Ten Commandments ( Protestant Version ) Monument in the Rotunda of the Judicial Building in direct violation of the 1st Amendment. He attempted to make the Protestantism the State Religion.
  2. He blatantly refused to removed said Monument when Lawfully and Legally ordered to do so. Which resulted in him being removed from Office.
  3. He blatantly ordered subordinate Clerks and Judges to not issue Marriage Licenses to Same Sex Couples in direct violation of a Lawful and Legal ruling of the SCOTUS. Which result in him being removed from Office a second time.
  4. He wrote in 2006 that newly-elected Representative Keith Ellison, a Muslim, should be prohibited from taking the oath of office. A clear and present violation of the Article VI of the U.S. Constitution.
He contributed to a study course which argued that women should not hold political office. A 2011 textbook “Law and Government” An Introductory Study Course” Moore was a longstanding faculty member of the Witherspoon School of Law and Public Policy.

Furthermore, he should have been more than removed from office. He should have been indicted on crimes against the constitution.
 
In addition to which, he complained about “new rights” being given in 1965 (i.e., the Voting Rights Act). And agreed with a man who said all constitutional amendments after the 10th should be abolished.

It’s really hard to make a case that the man is qualified for any government post, much less a federal one. I have to “admire” the creativity of those who try.

You are missing the big picture, here. It isn’t solely about Moore, it is about the procedure being used to determine who is fit for what office. It is no longer based upon what is right, it is solely on what is effective. Want to get a competitor out of your way, just hire some ready con-artists to drum up allegations and people are all too ready to believe because they have been indoctrinated into thinking their uninformed opinions on all matters are correct based solely on their feelings or preconceptions, not on due process or full disclosure of evidence.

It isn’t this one case I am objecting to, it is the entire social “game” being played to solidify power over and above the actual good of the people.

The reason you appear oblivious to the con-game is because you favour one side and that side won this particular skirmish. I wouldn’t focus on that one event but on the illicit means being used to fight the entire war.

Given your comments, I doubt that you have the capacity to grasp that much of the situation, but I put it out there anyway.
 
It will be interesting in 2020 and 2022 to see who wins this State.

In 2016 Senator Richard Shelby won by 64%.

Even if Roy Moore had gotten the 22,819 of the write in votes, he would have only won by 0.14%

So yes 2020 and 2022 might prove to be interesting.

So you believe the 9 women were all ready con-artists to drum up allegations, not just another result of the fallout from the Harvey Weinstein Incident that happened weeks before the 9 came out>

If so, given your comments, I doubt that you have the capacity to grasp that much of the situation at large.
 
Maybe, just maybe, Roy Moore losing will send the message to Republican leaders that a fair amount of Republican voters still have some shred of decency and won’t mindlessly pull the level for anyone with an R next to their name and some folksy props like a horse and a cowboy hat.

I’ll tell you. The republican will win in a landslide as long as the person running isn’t a pathetic joke of a candidate like Roy Moore.

Nothing new there, as the 2016 US elections demonstrated. I am not a sore loser about the Presidential election itself. The failure began in the primaries. By the time Trump and Clinton were nominated, fitness for office was already a lost cause.

I suspect the timing of the Weinstein allegations is their crucial feature. The purpose behind them is another thing entirely.

And don’t misread this as my thinking that the timing relates to Moore specifically. That isn’t my point. There is something else, much larger, brewing. The point of manipulating society is that society is the patsy being manipulated.

Stand back from the entirety of what is going on, taking a neutral perspective and just observe. There is a whole lot of motivated investment in the promotion of “correct” ideas and forcing a polarization of anyone with divergent ideas to choose a side. Why would that be?

I’d agree. Assuming such adversarial positions makes it hard to have constructive dialog and action. Though in modern times though people are more likely to live close to people that think similar to them on certain issues. This physical segmenting of people may make it difficult for people to even have an understanding for those with which they don’t agree.

The procedure you describe is as old as politics. It didn’t just get invented this year. Both sides do it. That leaves it up to us as voters to use our own judgement to assess who is likely telling the truth based on the evidence we have. It is not like a criminal trial where we can wait as long as needed to get all the evidence out. Elections are scheduled and we have to decide on Tuesday based on what we know on Tuesday. We can’t wait until Wednesday. So if you think the public is falling for a hoax, blame the public. But you can’t blame the hoaxers unless you have proof it is a hoax - not just your personal feeling.

Despite what you claim, it is about Moore. Any establishment Republican would have won this seat easily. And it isn’t just about the sexual misconduct claims. Moore was running for a seat in Federal government - the same government he defied - twice - and was removed from his office because of it. If he cannot abide by the rule of law, he has no business swearing the oath of office.

That would be more accurate.

To be perfectly honest, I don’t really understand the “dressing up” that people tried here. Isn’t sexual assault of a minor bad enough? Do we really have to throw in pedophelia too? Well that’s not true, I do understand it. In order to justify their continued support for abortion, the Left and their allies have to find something worse to smear their opponents. On their twisted view of morality, only things as heinous as pedophilia qualify as “bad”.
