Drinking alcohol and smoking pot – what are your thoughts?

I’m not going to live my life second class living under the thumb and walked on by every
un motivated, un dedicated, under ambitious member of society that feels the need to shove it down my throat because they are happy with the life they have in what they consider “Normal”
For people who like to drift through life and just get by it might be ok for them.
I for one want to be #1 at what I do, I take it seriously that means leaving no stone unturned; by any distraction that is counter productive to success and well being in life.
Maybe if I was born one of these special children of God who are given a multitudes of skills and abilities to get by in life, it wouldn’t bother me, but thats not me, I have to work very hard at everything I do and this is the worst thing you can have for a distraction.
I’ve seen what it does first hand and how its affected my life as a bystander. Therefore it is very disappointed in my own right to see the church approves of it.
I try to go to church to get healing in my life, from Christ, but I see liquor bottles raffled of at the parish fair, donated by members,. How is that doing the work of God?
Why can’t a family sit down and enjoy some ice cream and cake, instead of this poison in the family.

Catholics do NOT drink all the time. Drinking in excess is sinful. The Catechism of the Catholic Church says on the topic of drugs, that the only way it is okay to do them is if it will benefit one’s health. I, too, was curious on the pot subject. I assume this to mean that if pot will help your health, i.e- you are so depressed you cannot eat, then it is okay in moderation. Just because something has been legalized is not a reason to do it, though.

Jessup, read your history. The Mayflower and her sister ships would never had made it to these United States without beer. We wouldn’t be here without it. Again, key is moderation as with wine and other spirits. 😉

Man, I was thinking about becoming Catholic since you guys drink beer, wine, and Margatritas. Now you tell me Catholics drink O’douls? What;s up with that? You sound like Fundamentialist Bapstist on that one. CopticChristian, you seem anti-drinking and anti-pot.

Our English Bibles are all translations and paraphrases, and have been influenced by the biases of the translators. Have you ever read the Amplified version or the Message version?

It is my understanding that there are over 1 billion Catholics. It seems that the Church would be wise to have some Christian liberty in allowing individual Catholics to live according to their own conscience regarding drinking or smoking legalized pot. All the Catholics that I knew enjoyed a drink or two. Heck, I thought wine was big in Rome.
 
Pope Benedict XVI is a fellow Bavarian. If he doesn’t know good beer, there is no hope left in the world. If you pay attention to the water treatment plants in Germany, they translate as water clarification plants. That is why there are so many warnings not to drink the water. Beer is a much safer drink. The rest is just God’s way of telling us He loves us.😃

I'd rather get shot dead then drink a beer with anyone.
I’m not the kind of person that likes to drift through life, so for me it is more about business success then having fun. Fun is boring, drinking is boring, it is the most boring thing anyone can do with there time. I’d rather make money, have more freedom, and the ability to win. The last time I was in a bar, I upper tanked it back in 2008 I was the D-and-D

Fun, by definition, can’t be boring. If what you’re doing is boring, you’re no longer having fun.
 
Since we are on the topic of drug abuse, if I was going to do anything at all.
I’d want to take D-bol and Aderall. I think that would be more productive. I have contemplated it a lot but I had an old co-worker who’s heart exploded taking D-Bol, and I don’t think I am ready for that kind of risk. He left a good looking corpse though.
Any friend I’ve ever had on Aderall has been a strait A student on his way to grad school.$$$ If your going to get high; those are the two drugs to take, not beer and pot.
There is a significant difference, I can’t imagine why anyone would take beer over D-bol
Look at the difference of a drinker after a 4 week cycle of Budweiser compared to a athlete after a 4-week cycle of D-bol.

Absolutely look at the side effects in comparison to the two.
One gives you an awesome body full of energy the other makes you fat.
D-Bol makes you an attractive alpha male amongst average men. Aderall makes you a super genius running to the top of your class on your way to that 100k a year job.
When has beer ever done either of those two things?

Sounds to me like you might want to take a second look at where your priorities are. You sound a little too excited about becoming an attractive alpha male making six figures.

As I recall in early days in England the water was so bad that if you drank it you got sick…and to drink beer you did not…they boiled the water to make beer…🤷

I went to San Diego to see my 4 grandchildren, Son, Daughters and posting with a phone caused me to type “bear” as opposed to “beer”…however the Pope loves all creatures like you and I.
