He didn’t reveal any specific info putting anyone in danger. All he did was reveal the scope of government operations that we can all agree are overreaching and insane. You could argue it alerts the enemy to switch tactics, but all that means is they can’t use the phone or internet.

How, exactly? The government has already announced that they monitor terrorist communications. They know nothing now that they didn’t already know.
How do you know what they knew? Did they know *how *they were being monitored? Well, they do now.

Peace

How despicable to see so many people call him a Traitor.

The real Traitors and Tyrants are the Bush and Obama Administrations who created this Unconstitutional program and then lied about it under oath:

Which founding sought asylum in China, again?
He didn’t seek asylum in China.

He is temporarily laying his head in Hong Kong, a Chinese territory, while deciding what to do next. Iceland has offered him asylum; they wouldn’t do that if he had already settled permanently elsewhere.

If the “rebels” in 1865 were not called traitors, after they fought against their nation, I don’t get how an info-peddling flunky in peacetime gets that label.

That’s where I fall. There can be no defense for exposing classified information.
He didn’t reveal legitimately classified information.

He revealed the existence of an illegal, unconstitutional, treasonous, tyrannical program that had not been created nor authorized by the American People to be classified in the first place.

CAF political logic:

If GOP in office Snowden is a traitor
If Obama in office Snowden is a hero.
That’s the opposite, according to a recent Pew poll. More Democrats flipped to “Acceptable” in 2013. 64% now think it is “acceptable” vs. 37% in 2006.

It’s Bush’s fault!!! YEEAAARRRGGGHH1!!!

Democrats now view the NSA’s phone surveillance as acceptable by 64% to 34%. In January 2006, by a similar margin (61% to 36%), Democrats said it was unacceptable for the NSA to scrutinize phone calls and emails of suspected terrorists.

Neither. A publicity seeker who abandoned his Girlfriend and is now savoring every moment of his 15 minutes of fame

He is a hero and I pray he won’t be assassinated when the CIA eventually finds him. America does so much evil in this world, hopefully more whistle blowers come forward so we can clean house on ourselves and make our nation a respectable one again.

the I-hate-America-brigade checks in.

I want him to stand trial and be sentenced for treason.

Edward Snowdon has probably taken an oath to secrecy, and if not (he ought to have taken this oath.) In light of this oath, he should be consider a traitor.
Actually, you don’t take an oath to secrecy. I have had access to classified information of one type or another for over 30 years. I have never had to take an oath.

What I have had to do, since the John Walker case, was sign a Standard Form 312, Classified Information Nondisclosure Agreement (pdf here)

As an FYI, I had to sign that form when it first came out in the late 80s…re-sign every time they updated the form, and then re-sign again whenever I changed employers after I retired from the military.

Whenever I’ve had access to different special access programs, I would have to sign a similar briefing / debriefing acknowledgement…but, again, no oath.

I agree with the reasonable suspicion to start the process.

the traitor did expose some horrendous abuses, but running to china instead of accepting responsibility (like Ellsberg, even, to an extent, like Manning who had an arguably decent motive) erases any sympathy. I wonder what his primary purpose was. maybe it was just espionage and the whistle blowing a smokescreen.
I have a hard time with the term “traitor.” I have a hard time imagining the scenario with which he would be charged with treason. If the Walker gang wasn’t charged with treason, I can’t see this guy being charged that way.

(Of course, he did embarrass Obama, so the rules might be a bit different)

That won’t happen, as he has not committed treason.

if and when they catch the traitor, he’ll make a deal with the government and they’ll put him away for most of the rest of his life, it doesn’t matter what the actual conviction is for.

I’m using the term expansively to show disgust, and because “espionager” doesn’t sound right.

How did he commit Treason?

While you think about the correct answer to that question here are two more for you to ponder:

Should Obama and the Democrat Party be tried for Murder, given that they support state-sanctioned Murder(aka Abortion)?

Should James Clapper be tried for lying under Oath?

the criminal statute isn’t important, they’ll convict him of something suitable. how about this one? it took about 30 seconds to pick out. 18 USC § 798 - Disclosure of classified information. the DOJ will have fun choosing the right crimes to charge the traitor with.

nice try on the button pushing questions though. how does that work in real life?

If you think our government lies, just wait until the lies of Satan come to light. We have never been free! We have been bombarded with lies since the day we were born. Government and the media at large have never been truthful. This goes for all the nations on the face of this earth. Again, lies and deception are everywhere. The information that Edward Snowdon exposed is the very tip of the iceberg. I’ll even bet that our government somehow wanted Edward Snowdon to disclose this information as a first step in making citizens aware of all the lies.

What is the use of ‘freedom’ if we do not possess national security? How do you govern over 7 billion people without covert efforts involving top secret activities?

The man is a hero. This program is a violation of the Constitution and people’s personal rights. Those who cannot see the danger of it, I don’t what to say to. What do you say to someone who cannot see something before his very eyes? The truck barrelling down the highway to mow him down?

It is this level of control and intrusion in to people’s lives that enables such tyranny as Satan desires to persecute and destroy Christianity to the extent he is allowed to do so.

**It is a step towards the time of Antichrist, and a tool for Freemasonry to control the population.
**
The danger of it is immense. And people should be entirely up in arms about it, they should be marching on Washington. And the politicians who call this man a traitor, the politicians who concealed this, they are what they are calling this hero.

However, due to propaganda and the power already taken over by those who serve evil, the level of ignorance as to even the most obvious consequences of such power being taken over the people persists. People falsely imagine that this power will be used to their benefit and so the ends justify the means.

It shows the consequences on the intellectual life of the moral degradation of these times.

Greater authority trumps lesser. The law in this case, concealing this violation of the Constitution, this illegal and immoral practice, is unjust, and therefore does not apply. The man is a hero.
Really? and you know this because… tea leaves, crystal ball???

The program that Snowden exposed was never legal to begin with, so your cut and paste is moot.

Snowden is a hero. Obama is the real criminal and his entire Administration needs to be put on trial, not just for this latest offense but for the really big offense: supporting Murder (aka Abortion and now Contraception) on demand.
